Why Lanning Will NOT Replace the Offensive Coordinator and O-Line Coaches....

I am not saying he shouldn't, but I was pondering if he did not replace them at the end of the season....why wouldn't he?

We have not seen any practices or meetings, thus we know nothing about what the truth is--we are all just shooting-from-the-hip our impressions. Now, that is fine because that is what a forum is for, but virtually all our opinions are based on speculation, not what we have seen, heard or felt from exchanges with the players behind the scenes.

For the OC, it is easy to state the truth--that the absence of decent run-blocking destroys all the plays, no matter what is called. Without proper time to throw...none of the passing plays can work. And since he is new at this OC role at Oregon, perhaps Lanning will let him work his way into the role as the blocking improves?

For the O-Line Coach: considering all the accolades he and his players have received--I don't think he forgot it all overnight. Add to this that Mike Cavanagh is back as an advisor/analyst, and he is an excellent O-Line coach who made the JacQuizz brothers a ton of yardage for the Beavers when he was there. The amount of expertise is more than enough, so I've concluded that the problem is way too much inexperience.

The only experienced offensive linemen is iluli and Poncho, and the rest have hardly had any. This game showed some improvement, and I would assume that would continue through next year....thus no changes?

One Duck fan I know believes that Mehringer has lost the room, and the reason for the poor play at times. If this is true--Lanning would know it, and act upon it later.

What if we are all operating from a massive lack of information--that Lanning has--and we're wrong? Like you, I want to see the ship righted again....

I haven't rewatched the game. but from memory the O line unit that was in in the 4th played about the best they have all year.

I do believe that Tofi was a part of that group. Hopefully they have found a combo that works going forward.

Get Donte back and who knows. Everyone is losing in the cfb this year. If Oregon can make the post season, win or lose, it is a massive success.

If that happens, nobody gets fired imo.

I’d agree. There are too many parts of the strategy puzzle we just don’t know being taken into consideration by Lanning and those people whose opinions he trusts.

Case in point would be when Dan decided to replace Brock with Dylan. There were people in caves in Siberia screaming for Brock’s head by the 2nd quarter. But DL waited, and guess what? It was the right moment to make the change.

Plain and simple: we don’t know what goes into deciding upon a coach’s fate, let alone when to switch quarterbacks in a game.
