CBS Would Not Allow Recording Ohio State on DirectTV

Featured Replies

No.

I was wondering why I didn’t see a recording of the Ohio State game on DirectTV. I have a team recording set for all Oregon games.

I called DirectTV and their answer stunned me. CBS did not allow recording of the game. Apparently I could watch it live but DirectTV would not record the game.

This is a whole new level of enshitification. Because it was a big, popular game, I could no longer record the game. I work during game time and always watch Oregon games by recording.

So how many playoff or other big games are the networks going to block recording?

A DirectTV subscription is now nearly useless. Guess it is time to buy and set up an over the air recording system so the networks can’t block me from recording key games

I love our high-tech world where every service gets worse. I’m really pissed.

The good news is that a full game video will be available on YouTube anytime now…

Let’s hope so. If they didn’t allow anybody online to record why would CBS put a copy on YouTube? Any copy will either be a recording of the over-the-air signal or by phone recording the screen. I’ll check YouTube.

Most recordings on youtube are illegal and get pulled down at some point.

Along with a lot of live streams of games that are also illegal but sometimes you can watch a whole game that way.

And is superior to Direct in all ways. Want to record 15 games at once? Go to Dish Network. Want 100+ hours of recording? Go to Dish. Etc.
