  3. I really don’t think so. The best way to get better is to play football, even if playing for a team much weaker than OBD. Addressing the transactional aspect of football, getting better means more money. But even more importantly, you don’t get this good (and even a mediocre college player is a damn good athlete) without enjoying the game and finding joy in getting better. Speaking from my own experience, I’m a serious paddle boarder. I’ll never make a dime at it, but I enjoy being good at a sport. I enjoy the sound and feel of being on a paddle board when I am paddling fast and efficiently. I enjoy doing it a little better every day. These young men are no different. There seems to be a common thread of cynicism about what motivates our players and coaches that I think is unfounded. Social media in general swims in cynicism, so it’s not limited to this forum. This recurring theme towards OBD is one of the main reasons I quit posting here for years. Especially with Lanning, I see a team based upon character, connection, and compassionate accountability. Not perfect, but doing their jobs for the right reasons.
  4. It may be a rumor but it is not. The kids on campus outside of the football team know exactly what happened. 9 skill people were involved. Stewart is not out of the woods if you read any of the reports that came out yesterday. These are suspensions. It may be a long day.
  5. It's taken the staff this long to recognize Zone Blocking is not a strength of the OL. Both Tackles also struggle too much to pass protect reliably. These guys explain it better than I do, but instinctively I have been thinking this all year... I thought these guys were Scoop Duck until I watched the video. They're good. They have time I don't so I thought I would let them explain it better than I can. And they confirmed a lot of my suspicions. Check them out.
  6. In this season of the witch, what is going to go wrong next? From No. 2 to number 27. 🤮 If these guys are out with injuries, change the S&C guy and the program he is running. Too many Ducks are injured too often. If they are out because of behavioral issues, is there an adult in the room? Other than an FCS layup, every game has been a struggle. This is with a 247 Sports roster ranking of 2nd, behind only Georgia at No. 1. BRUTAL! However, before a 3rd loss, if it happens, I'm keeping the PO faith.
  7. I tend to agree. Dan Lanning is having years taken off his life with this offensive misery. This level of discomfort is surely going to result in real changes. Dan will grow. But it is jarring to see what we are right now compared what we used to be.
  8. Illinois wins. 16-12 1 Turnover 6 sacks 138 Yards Passing
  9. Never said they were smart with money... Only that they were too eager to spend it.
  10. As much as folks want to complain, it seems we are still in the price discovery phase of NIL. As much as the NCAA wants to get it's antitrust exemption, they aren't going to be able to put the toothpaste back in the tube. My personal opinion is that this is just showing there has been a lot of money being unfairly withheld from the gladiators for generations. That's the real un-American travesty, not that NIL is ruining the sport as some suggest.
  11. I see that Jack Ressler is not listed as out. I liked his high school tapes, as did Notre Dame, USC, and others. He has been injured most of his time at Oregon after redshirting his first year. In his high school tapes, he was an elusive, hard-nosed little receiver. It will be a nice surprise if he plays and has a belated coming-out party.
  12. Charles I think you need a new rule: No unfounded character assassinations. It's getting really unfortunate to see.
  13. $54 million to get rid of Kelly. $90 million to bring in Lame. A roster payroll of $45 to $50 million. 4-2 and on the hunt for private equity funding. BRILLIANT!
  14. No one ever said that actually getting to the point where we could win a national championship would be easy.
  15. OMG. I am changing my predictions. Might we see two tight-end looks during the game? We will see Lewis, Bair, and Hooks get their chance.
  16. Hopefully GB won't bounce the ball off his face mask. Going to need some production out of him
  17. Springfield PD has already debunked racing as just a rumor.
  18. I'm seeing online that Lott may have been banged up near the end of last game.
  19. The Good News? It isn’t permanent…it is just one tough year.
  20. Hmmm anything to do with fast cars🤔
  21. I'm sitting here watching 2015 Oregon vs Arizona State, with Big Play VA and all of our skill players that could run like scalded cats, and I really miss that time. Yeah defenses sucked, and almost none of our players were headed to the NFL except Buckner and Royce, but so what? It was really fun to watch. Getting back to title of the post, today we are lumbering behemoth of 4 and 5 stars on offense that can't figure out how to get out of our own way, combined with an elite smothering defense. There are probably 30 people on the team right now that will end up on an NFL roster. We are now a quintessential Big 10 team with a ton of talent, all defense and no offense. Let's raise a toast to what once was and accept the trendy cliche that the Ducks are indeed the Hero that lived long enough to become the Villain. Our Transition to the Dark Side of the Force is now complete..
