Social Media is disgusting anyways, but it's always startling to see how many people on X would agree with Simms that it was somehow Moore's fault. I think Moore slid a little late compared to most QB slides, but the USC defender one hundred percent knew what he was doing, the forearm to the head says it all, as well as the reaction.

I feel better. Some of this is coming to terms with what this Oregon team is. I just don't think it's a team that will be a championship contender. It may be a team that improves through the season, it may end up winning 10+ games, but I don't see a team that will be a major contender for the natty. I could be totally wrong, maybe the O-line improves more than I think they will, Raiola might be "The" guy, the defense might lock it in, we obviously have talent. I just think for myself, I have lowered my expectations, and I'm more focusing on things like how much this team improves, can I see the coordinators improve (Mehringer was much better tonight!), is the effort there, can this team become more disciplined and control the things that they can control (penalties, effort, technique, etc.) I don't know if this is true for others, but I honestly think I've had more fun when I'm not worrying about things like championships, last two years I've been super critical about every little thing, tonight while I might have bellyached about some defensive things. I honestly had more fun watching tonight because I just wanted to win the game and play exciting football.

It's frightening to think about the possible outcomes for Dante. Watching that cheap shot is simply stomach turning to see. Hoping and praying that Dante has a concussion without any permanent damage.

I'm beyond impressed, and frankly, a bit shocked at the exceptional play & leadership by Dylan. To step into the game in such an emotional and difficult situation, in such a high profile environment, and lead this team like he did, is truly amazing. If our defense can continue to improve, and play like they did on the last couple of series, this could quickly turn into a damn good team.

Oklahoma State won at West Virginia today, and the Cowboys are now 3-1 and except for the Tulsa opener have piled up a lot of yards on offense (just as they did when the roster played for North Texas - 20 players transferred from N. Texas including QB) On another note, I did watch just a bit of UCLA's win today. They were showing some inventive mis-direction plays on offense and will be tough for opposing defenses.

I'm hoping the Moore family files a civil suit against Desmond Stephens and the Trojan team. No place in sports for that type of celebration for an injury. Maybe this will lead to the NCAA to make a few changes. #8 for USuC should miss as many games as Dante.

We have a ways to go, but that was a big confirmation step forward of where this team can progress to. Dylan Raiola proved my assertion again, that if you are Oregon...you should always have an experienced portal QB available, and in waiting. No way a newbie freshman QB wins that game... This was a confidence boost for the players and the coaches that can really propel them further this season.

The more I think about it and also the incredible points Mike West brought up earlier this week... I think a change in scheme could fix a lot of these problems. We saw some great flashes of player talent... We saw what happens when the Ducks rush 5! Good things generally happen is what! Four rushing need to fight off too many bodies to get to the quarterback. The back end struggled to keep contain for so long... Speed up the quarterback and the back end has a chance. Simplify some concepts and roles and make communication easier. There are a lot of specialized pieces in this defense for sure.

My thoughts are that Raiola is a very fun QB to watch. He can move around, he is aggressive in his decision making, and he has a bit more swagger to his game. I think he's going to be very very successful, we'll see a few INTs occasionally, but we'll also see more big plays, I hate the decision that Lanning might have if Moore is able to come back at some point. Mehringer called a better game today, some of that is simple improved play by the O-line in pass protect, but the timing of his screen game was better, he stuck to the run game just enough while not getting stubborn about it. O-line will be a work in progress for the entire season, I don't think they'll ever get there to a point where it looks like a usual Oregon O-line, but they may improve to a point where they at least become competent enough to give us a chance. I don't think the run game will ever get to the point where we run over teams. We may need to go to a 55 or 60 percent passing team, that's where our strength is. Defense is still a disappointment, some of it is scheme, some of it is communication, some is talent, and some is effort (this is becoming less of an issue though). We just can't seem to lock it in for other than a few plays. D-line isn't dominant, LBs are not 1st or 2nd day talents I think, and the DBs are good, but they aren't consistent all the time. Today it was as much Oregon as it was USC, Maiava is really really good, and their receivers are about the only thing that has been consistent over the last 10 or so years.

I’d be interested in seeing the breakdown for LB snaps tonight. Seemed we had freshmen in for key stretches tonight which may cause growing pains but likely better for us as the season progresses.

There were flashes at each level. Was nice to see the db lock down chunks of plays in the 4th. Also redzone D was much improved from last year.
