  2. I've been saying this since Ok St. Set up the OL for success with plays they can handle. To me, this is the biggest part of the OC being MIA both pregame planning and in game adjustments. Unfortunately Lanning has turned coaching at Oregon into a training on the job destination instead of a destination job. It is what it is this year but hopefully coaches get upgraded to what they need to be after the season.
  3. JJ, thank you for your weekly reports of the college football match ups. This Forum member wants to let you know that it is greatly appreciated. Who would have thought that by week #7 that OBD's would not be relevant in the CFP landscape. Very hard to digest the possibilty that all the hopes and dreams of the 2026 season may be crash landing tomorrow night. Sigh! I am still optimistic that the Ducks can turn this around and we will see the NEW Ducks and exciting Duck offense this Saturday night. I have supported and loved OBD's since I moved to Oregon in 1984. There were some very pitiful and lean years until KW pic sixed the Ducks past the dreaded dogs 30 years ago. That play was the beginning of the arrival and rise of OBD's. And on a brighter note the beginning of the fusky decline...... This Saturday the Ducks need a KW type hero to ignite a turn around for OBD's. I wonder who that will be? GO DUCKS.........
  4. Didn't we already have a Coach who went for two all the time and then had to back that off because he realized he was putting himself in a bad position on a regular basis. The difference between a great team that wins national championships and a great team that never quite gets there is the small things. Clock management, when to go for it on fourth down or instead play field position, when to go for two, ect. The great coaches seem to not gamble unless they have to not because they want to be cute or impose their will.

  6. It's Lannings version of Cristobal up the middle run.
  7. Years ago, Steve Martin had a bit in one of his stand up comedy acts where he said something about him being the quarterback, but that he like to punt on first down... just to keep the other team totally off balance.
  8. I would absolutely like to see the statistical data on that. I have a feeling your statement is likely correct. However, some coaches are much better at deciding when to go for it and when to not. So a breakdown by individual coaches would be really interesting to look at.
  9. Great to see this actually moving forward. And it sounds very likely that we will be dumping the rather worthless conference championship game, which is definitely the right move. Also, having the opening two rounds played on home field sites is absolutely the right decision. Teams, and fans, with the best record should stop being punished with a so-called neutral site. I like 24 teams. That's means about 19% (24/124) of all qualified teams will have a shot at the title --- Which is close to the same as in college basketball... 18% (64/363). 24 teams opens it up a bit, but doesn't dilute it.
  10. DuckFan93: Hope my negative-jinx helps OBD! Exactly. My predictions have been so horrendous that I thought I would try the reverse psychology approach as well.
  11. Yep, especially since mine occurred after 43 years of marriage.... (They call it "Grey Divorce" and it has grown by 400% since 1990)
  12. Ducks win it at home. 35-17 2 turnovers 2 sacks 227 yards through the air And for what it's worth, I can see Akili Smith, Jr. being the X factor in gaining the win.
  13. I think Brock is fine for his role, but I am guessing the point being made is that for Brock to complete that 35 yard sideline throw from the pocket, it requires a bit of a wind up to uncork a bit of a rainbow to get there (which by testing his limits of what you would like to see him do, is much more likely to either sail by or float on him), than Dante who can deliver that on a rope with velocity out of his regular throwing motion. The difference between arguably having as much pure arm talent as any high school QB recruit the last decade compared to a very good walk-on. It is a pretty tough throw for a college QBs to regually make. I see some of the problems people point out currently in Dante's game, but making that throw as good and regularly as anyone isn't among them. In Brock's defense, until I see Raiola do it in 2026, I am not sure it is a throw he can make much easier either. 🤷‍♂️
  14. Nebraska wins 28-21 1 take-away turnovers 1 sacks 200 passing yards Hope my negative-jinx helps OBD!

  18. Meanwhile, just up the road: On3JaMarcus Shephard has brought swagger back to Oregon Stat...JaMarcus Shephard is about to face one of the toughest challenges in the modern era of college football. In less than a season, he's brought some swagger
  19. On3's Andy Staples has the same question for Dan and Mike Elko. On3Dan Lanning and Mike Elko made huge coaching mistakes, ca...Mike Elko verbally stepped on a rake on Saturday and walked it back Monday. Dan Lanning said he didn’t owe anyone an explanation Monday and then went on
  20. Something has to change. We are a RPO Zone blocking scheme, but what if stop always counting numbers and we lose the RPO some of the time. Could we see some throwback Chip - bring the zone read option with Brock or Akili Jr in there? Maybe that old Straddled Option they had out of different sets. This would force the D to be disciplined across their run reads and make them react to us, not us to them. If we go Power Gap - I like the QB getting out on some play action naked boots. Set it up and give me a TE to the flats - #7 on a deep route over that, and #1 middle cross from the backside. There is a lot we can do different to try to mask the OL weakness, or make the game easier for them.
  21. On3's Week 7 Top 10 Games. On3Top 10 games for Week 7 of the college football seasonIt’s going to be hard to find a better college football weekend than the one we just experienced. Georgia and Alabama played down to the wire, the No. 1
  22. These analysts are fools. They think the highest draft spot/ salary is all that matters. Get the highest spot with the crappiest team, who cares if you aren't developed enough and never play! The difference between 10 million and 20 million dollarsis irrelevant. It hardly brings any extra joy at that point. Yet a long rewarding career being better developed and winning some games will make a player WAY happier.
