  2. Know the Foe: Five UCLA Bruin players to knowThe 13th-ranked Ducks will return home after the needed-bye to play UCLA at Autzen Stadoum this Saturday at 12:30 PM. Here are five Bruin players to know entering the game. https://247sports.com/college/oregon/longformarticle/know-the-foe-five-ucla-bruins-players-to-know--290912833/
  3. Can Oregon please settle on a starting 5 on the O line. They need time to gel and develope trust in each other. Can't keep trotting out a new starting lineup every week
  4. Comparing the two it helps to remember the season before their natty, Indiana finished 10th in the final rankings, and lost only to Ohio State in the regular season and to Norte Dame in the play-offs (the two teams in the final).
  5. I gotta believe our Ducks play better each week. I believe in our coaches and players. But, I do have 2 concerns: How does Dylan respond as the starter. His poise last week was truly amazing having to step up in backup ( though it was almost a full game). Will his 1st start in front of a full Autzen crowd be any different. We are rolling out a new hyped up uniform. I'm superstitious about those games. We have had a few major flops in these games. Can we overcome the hype.

  7. Wow 4 games into the season with new players on the O and already looking for a new OC?
  8. Yup, pretty ironic to slip away like that from success. Aside from his issues with Eugene and west coast culture in general, it makes me think he understood before anyone else how lucky he’d been to catch lightening in a bottle, and that he needed to strike while the iron was hot if he wished to pursue his dreams.
  9. I do feel the Mint defense is on it's last legs.... well in its current iteration. It needs to evolve.
  10. Wouldn't you love to know the focus of Coach Lanning's recent meeting with Seahawks Head Coach Mike Macdonald? What do you guess topped Lanning's agenda? My money is on a deep dive into defensive schemes. As many have already noted, OBD have the raw talent, but the execution on the field suggests our players aren't consistently being put in positions to succeed. By contrast, Macdonald's defense currently ranks as the premier unit in the NFL. A look at their production four games into the season highlights why Lanning may have sought out his counsel: Total Defense: Rank #1 in the NFL, allowing just 246.8 total yards per game. Passing Defense: Rank #1 in the NFL, limiting opponents to 144.8 passing yards per game. Schematic Drivers: Powered by a disciplined zone-matching secondary and highly effective high-pressure stunt schemes. Weakest Link: They drop to 11th in the league against the rush. Expect to see some noticeable adjustments to our defense THIS SATURDAY—specifically in secondary rotations and how we utilize our NFL-caliber defensive linemen. We have the personnel. Coach Lanning undoubtedly returned from Seattle with a few high-yield concepts designed to optimize our Jimmies and Joes for much better success. Go Ducks!
  11. Just funny that it became his greatest head coaching achievement.
  12. Thanks, Mike. Could happen, no doubt. Man vs. Machine - The Massey Ratings have Oregon No. 9 with the 21st most difficult schedule. SP+ has Oregon ranked 10th. https://masseyratings.com/cf/fbs/ratings
  13. The Oregon Ducks turned their season around last week. But a big reason why is because Oregon is smarter than their competition. And the Ducks will likely continue to leverage this significant advantage. This is great news for the Oregon Ducks and fans of the Oregon Ducks should be excited.
  14. I expect to see more players getting snaps along with changing roles for some, too. Coach Lanning’s comments about the team say he’s looking for more and different while not satisfied with the status quo.
  15. Thanks Jon. It's not the two-loss teams I'm worried about, it's unexpected one-loss teams that could come out of the Big12 or ACC. And the committee has shown precedence for not punishing teams who play in conference title games. For example, what would have happened had BYU beat Texas Tech in the Big 12 title game last year? Both would have been in (similar to Clemson beating SMU the prior year). What if UCLA goes 11-1 this year? It probably seems foolish betting against chaos in college football with increased parity, but I wouldn't count on it this year.
  16. Oregon was always a stepping stone for Chip.
  17. Coming out of bye weeks...was a problem for Mari too, as well as second half adjustments. That's felt like a weakness for 9 years now
  18. All Fleck really needed was a tetanus booster from trying pull anything through that clog of Wolverine fur.
  19. On3's Ari Wasserman's takes on Week 5 include taking a shot at Riley's Trojans. He also asks: Why can't The Ohio State University find a kicker without a gag complex? On315 thoughts after Week 5: Keelon Russell becoming a star,...A lot happens on college football Saturdays. It’s hard to keep up with everything. So this season, in an attempt to bring everybody up to speed — while
  20. We don't know how good UCLA is this year. This feels like Indiana coming in last year and I didn't have two worries about the Hoosiers. Not equating UCLA's progress with Indiana from last year, but we better treat this game just as serious. UCLA has not had to put much of anything on film for us. They will have some wrinkles along with a veteran QB who could make life very difficult for our defense. If I'm UCLA looking at this game, there is no Ohio St. or Indiana on my schedule. If I shock the college football world with a win in Eugene, there is nothing that stops me from believing we can run the table to an unbeaten regular season. However, they have not been remotely tested yet and have not had to make adjustments. School is back in full swing now for Oregon, so I hope those who are able to attend at Autzen bring their A game. Go Ducks!
  21. Agree with all - you touched all the relevant bases, thanks. We don’t get to see game week practices, but I’d like to think Perich gets a wake-up call by splitting time with Washington. We’ve seen, and also know what it feels like to be an emerging, unknown and highly motivated team like YUCKLA is feeling right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dan’s game time motivation draws a bit from three years ago against Colorado.
  22. Good thoughts. It's a mixed B1G bag. A win over Michigan won't move the needle, but a win against Nebraska if the Cornhuskers are not blown out on Saturday by Indiana, and a win over Northwestern, should be quality wins. With its schedule, UCLA should finish in the top 25. Obviously, Oregon needs to win this game. If Boise State passes the test at Fresno State on Saturday, OBD will have a win over the PO G6 representative. Oklahoma State is odds-on to defeat UCF in Stillwater on Saturday, has a good chance of winning at Houston next week, misses Arizona, BYU, and Utah, and plays Texas Tech in Stillwater. If the second loss comes in a competitive game, a two-loss Oregon will be in the PO field. Definitely in with a win at Ohio State. Oregon will have a better strength of schedule than any two-loss ACC or B12 team.
  23. OBD's will take away the Bruins running game and force UCLA into 2nd or 3rd and long. That's when the butterflies in my tummy start barfing. However, OBD's held the classless men of troy to 3 out of 11 on 3rd down. That is solid improvement! The defense was superb in the last 10 minutes of the game and got the O the ball back. It allowed scoreboard separation. The Ducks controlled the ball the last 5 minutes of the first half and the first 2 minutes of the 2nd half. Putting up 10 points! That needs to continue against the Bruins. The Ducks have played 3 top 25 teams who are darn good football teams. Who has UCLA played? The Bruins have not faced a top opponent on the Ducks level. Nor a home field advantage like Autzen and the crowd. I don't expect any changes from OBD's this game. Just executing better what they do well. And eliminating more penalties. DR will attack downfield, the line will continue to improve and i expect 6 or 7 scoring drives. The defense will make a few more key stops and the Ducks will win this game by 3 scores. Go Ducks......
  24. Oregon should not feel comfortable taking a 2nd loss this year. This year feels a little different to me. I don't think we can count on Miami and Notre Dame stumbling twice this year. The Big 12 has a few compelling teams towards the top that could lead to a second playoff spot. With a G6 qualifier, that's potentially 5 spots taken in the CFP, leaving 7 left. KDB may have finally found his footing in Alabama, and along with Georgia and Texas will lock in 3 spots for the SEC. Indiana and Ohio St. take 2 for the B1G, leaving two remaining spots for the likes of Oregon, LSU, Ole Miss, or one of the next B1G teams (USC, UCLA, Iowa, or Northwestern). If one of the 2nd tier B1G teams or a 2nd ACC team goes on a run, it could put OBD playoff hopes in jeopardy. IMHO, we cannot afford an ugly loss or a two score loss in Columbus or anywhere for that matter. Every game is a fight for our playoff lives and anything less than a razor thin loss in a thriller to Ohio St. could land us in the Alamo Bowl.
  25. I'd take Chip over Riley that's for sure! For Chip to make a return to Oregon a couple things would need to happen. Mehringer would need to choose to move on to a new job, he has been fine with his play calls. Play calling and execution are different things and the biggest problems in weeks one and two was execution over play calling. I have some issues with the Oregon offense but those are more baked into the established Dan Lanning scheme than a coordinator, those issues have been with us since 2022. The second thing that would need to happen for Chip to come back to Autzen as a Duck is for Lanning to want to change his offensive philosophy and want to bring in an older more expirenced coach. That has run counter to what Lanning has done with all his hires at coordinator and position coach (after the initial hires... coach Tuioti was one of his initial hires and is older than Lanning for instance). Kelly is a good coordinator and I wouldn't mind him returning but he would also want to return. I don't know if he wants that. He has shown what he can do with more talent, see Ohio State, but Lanning would also have to build a recruiting structure around Kelly in a way that works for both parties. I'm not sure either side would want to make some of those compromises. Yes, recruiting has never been better at Oregon and that is in large part because Lanning and co work their freaking butts off. In many ways recruiting is actually harder than ever even with good NIL backing because you have to cut through the noise of NIL to make that pitch.
  26. Unlikely to see this UCLA team get defeated at the end of the fourth like USC. UCLA has less talented athletes than USC BUT is better coached. Staying disciplined and focused is going to be key to this one.
