College Football Playoff Committee Initial Top 25 - My Thoughts - Yours?
Would Utah really beat 4 through 12 on a neutral field? I haven't watched them, but if they lose to BYU are they going to drop to like 15 or just few spots like an SEC team? It feels like some of these rank are playing 13 dimensional chess. Us at 23 is lining us up to make the playoffs if we win out IMO.

Jon...you're the greatest with these posts. At Ole Miss would be quite a game.... UCLA's schedule is so incredibly weak....and they caught us at a bad time. The committee is so corrupt...

So...Where ARE the NegaDucks We've Seen So Much Of?
I wrote a pinned post about going too far with the negative, with venting, etc. recently. And it sure appears that my contention that some people are negative people....just are that way-has been soundly proven. Some of them became innovative with their insults to the Ducks; discussing the obvious negative is fine, but going over-the-top several times? Notice all the traffic we had after a loss? Note how much it declined after a win? There are a great many people who posted after losses, but when we win and do many good things--do they post then? No. We have a number of great posters who give opinions BOTH positive and negative, and some of them are new. I hope all you will continue to do that, and as for those who we only hear from when it is negative? If We Lose to Ohio State....I'm Sure We'll Hear From You Again! (Right?) Oh my....

College Football Playoff Committee Initial Top 25 - My Thoughts - Yours?
The Gurus of Grapevine have spoken. Below is the College Football (CFB) Playoff (PO) Committee's initial Top 25 for the 2026 season. The best news for OBD fans: Oregon is ranked 23rd and would be in a 24-team PO field. (See below.) No. 24 Florida would be knocked out by No. 25 Boise State. In this season's 12-team PO field, No. 12 Ohio State would be knocked out by Boise State. No. 4 Indiana and No. 8 UCLA would be in the 12-team field. SEC teams: No. 2 Georgia, No. 5 Alabama, No. 6 Kentucky, No. 7 Texas, and No. 10 Ole Miss would be in. --- A few thoughts from me, and please post your thoughts. UCLA is 8-0. Utah is 8-0. UCLA is ranked 3rd in Strength of Record (SOR) and 77th in Strength of Schedule (SOS). Utah is ranked 5th in SOR and 83rd in SOS. In the committee's first Top 25, UCLA is ranked 8th. Utah is ranked 3rd. --- October 10, 2026 - 6-2 Tennessee 26, 6-2 Alabama 10. Alabama is ranked 5th. Tennessee is ranked 13th. Alabama can't catch a PO break, right? 🤪 --- Week 1 - Texas defeats Ohio State in Austin 24 to 23. 6-2 Texas is ranked 7th. Texas lost at home to No. 24 Florida and to not ranked Oklahoma in Dallas. Texas's best win: No. 10 Ole Miss in Austin. No. 12 6-2 Ohio State's other loss was on the road against No. 20 USC. Ohio State's best win: No. 4 Indiana in Bloomington. --- No. 4 7-1 Indiana, SOS 31. No. 12 6-2 Ohio State, SOS 10. Committee: Ohio State, you should have played three cupcakes out of conference like your Hoosier friends. That way, you'd be 7-1 with a win over the Hoosiers and, perhaps, ranked higher than today? Ohio State: But we beat Indiana on their home field and ended a 22-game winning streak. Committee: Yeah, but your starting QB is hurt; that's why you are ranked 12th. Ohio State: But Indiana's starting QB is also hurt, and we defeated Indiana! Committee: Indiana's QB being hurt is irrelevant because Indiana has one more win than you do. But please, keep on playing those marquee out-of-conference games. In the long offseason, it gives us something to look forward to. 🤬🤬🤬! ... Thank goodness the PO is expanding to 24 teams. Here's what a 24-team PO field would be. 1st- and 2nd-round games played on campus. No. 1 Miami vs. No. 24 Boise State at No. 9 BYU No. 2 Georgia vs. No. 23 Oregon at No. 10 Ole Miss No. 3 Utah vs. No. 22 Arizona at No. 11 Notre Dame No. 4 Indiana vs. No. 21 South Carolina at No. 12 Ohio State No. 5 Alabama vs. No. 20 USC at No. 13 Tennessee No. 6 Kentucky vs. No. 19 Iowa at No. 14 LSU No. 7 Texas vs. No. 18 Missouri at No. 15 Texas Tech No. 8 UCLA vs. No. 17 Houston at No. 16 Wake Forest --- In 2024 and in 2025, three teams ranked in the committee's initial top 12 did not make the PO field. Straight off the Grapevine, CFB PO committee rankings, where you can find Logic on life support. On3College Football Playoff Top 25: First official 2026 CFP....

CFP Rankings: Ducks No. 23
I find it amazing we are in the CFP top 25. We look awful. Objectively speaking, it has to be they consider our talent the factor. We couldn't have looked any worse than gifting UCLA undefeated status and making Illinois look like a decent team. We don't even know which team will show up this week. Or should I say I don't? I expect Matt Patricia will bring the house on Raiola. They are going to make him play off balance, and they have the talent to give him more problems than they gave Hoover in Bloomington. I hope we go under center more to run bootlegs, and move the pocket. An angry and motivated Buckeye team is going to do their best to embarrass us. If we actually had decent blitz packages, now would be the time. Since we don't, I really hope our Draft caliber DEs bring the juice. They will be our Obi Wan Kenobi this week.

I'm really surprised with this. Not complaining, but still. Is this just to bolster Ohio state's resume?

Marsh Duck - Oregon's Win Over Northwestern is a Testament to Experience
Thanks David. Agreed we have not found the OC answer just yet, unless it was across the field. I would think Chip would honor whatever contract he has with NWern and obviously we have no way of knowing if he was approached last year or if he would want to return. In regard to Norvell, I think he will get an HC job as soon as the firing season is fully underway.

Marsh Duck - Oregon's Win Over Northwestern is a Testament to Experience
"Maybe, at his previous stops, Johnson did not have so many talented players at the skill positions." This ^^ His best OC job was when he had running back Kenneth Walker III at Michigan St. Oregon's stacked with RB's and WR's so that has to make his job easier.

Week 9-10 AP Poll is Out - FWIW My Thoughts on Hold Until the PO Committee Rankings on 11/3
I would not rank a 4 loss Alabama over a one loss Wake because that loss to Miami would be avenged. And Wake happens to be a good team. I have seen them twice, and they are solid, don't hurt themselves and can even hurt Alabama. They could even beat Alabama frankly (and yes, I have watched Bama, whom I don't think will lose again until the CCG). Wake is actually that good. Their QB is Tua esque, and he makes very good decisions.

Week 9-10 AP Poll is Out - FWIW My Thoughts on Hold Until the PO Committee Rankings on 11/3
And fortunately, even the 3 loss SEC teams will face a challenge getting in the 24T playoff, because odds are half or more of the 2 loss teams will have 3 losses against teams in other conferences. This year, the Big 12 would probably get 4, and if Oklahoma State hadn't lost another. I like how the SEC teams are whining, and they have 10 in the AP Top 25. It's disgusting.

Week 9-10 AP Poll is Out - FWIW My Thoughts on Hold Until the PO Committee Rankings on 11/3
I looked at the AP poll and tried to make my own rankings, but couldn't due to not enough sample size. I need to wait until the regular season ends to get some competition for some of those teams. It is hard to rank the big12, or ACC due to who they play. For my money, I would rank a 4 loss Alabama ahead of a 1 loss Wake Forest. And I would rank a 4 loss Oregon over a 1 loss New Mexico. The difference is quality of players, regardless of record. Who would win in the post season? I keep thinking back to that one year when Hawaii was soooooo good and then got totally destroyed by Georgia in that bowl game. After that game, no one took any of the teams from the "minor leagues" seriously ever again. Boise St had its moments, but that was about it for the "over achievers". Oh and of course, the Beavs had a few games that shocked the world, but they were in a power conference at the time. It is good they are going to 24. Because whoever gets left out at number 25 most likely doesn't have a chance to even stay within 2 or 3 scores of a top 5 team. So that argument become irrelevant.

Marsh Duck - Oregon's Win Over Northwestern is a Testament to Experience
David, great article and comments. Johnson may not have had previous success, but he learned what not to do. His experience allowed him to adjust in real time. Maybe, at his previous stops, Johnson did not have so many talented players at the skill positions. Consistency and practice reps paid off in the O line play againsy NW. You dont dominate the last 34 minutes of the game without the line executing st a solid level. Especially with a back up QB and your number 3 and 4 running backs. More of the same is needed each game. Jay Johnson should keep running a variety of plays that work. With the goal to keep the Buckeye defense or any future defense off balance. Work to push the ball down field vertically, not horizontaly. Hats off to the half time adjustments on both sides of the ball. NW had no answers in the 2nd half. They had no answers! While its a long shot, the Ducks can pull the upset against tOSU if they keep it close until the 4th quarter. The defense needs to play a complete, 4-quarter game and keep the Buckeyes under 24 points. The offense needs to minimize mistakes, stay away from 3rd and long and play to win. Start fast and don't dig sn early hole. This teams has nothing to lose. Go Ducks.

Wow. That was pretty solid last night. Nice passing and teamwork. The roster is mostly made up super athletic wings, which will be fun to watch. I watched some of UCLA, Illinois, and Michigan State last night and Oregon still has a long way to go to be competitive with the top half of the BIG. However, great to see progress and at least they should be fun to watch.- MBB: Coverage of Men's Basketball Program (4)
It is hard to draw conclusions without any baseline for how good Montana currently is. But, I thought the ball movement was better than any Ducks game I watched last season. Resulted in balanced scoring. But, just the artistry of guys looking to make a pass, to find an open man, to be aggressive in rebounding was way better than what I saw last season. Hope they can sustain it. Playing 3 exhibitions (1-2) had to have helped the coaching staff, and the players to find some sense of cohesion and understand each player's strengths? Ducks trailed 4-12, led 25-14, led 53-38, tied 57-57 (gulp at 10:41), then won 87-69.- 2026 BIG Info, Predictions, Etc. (10)

On3 Predicts the PO Committee's Top-25 - Oregon is 3-1 vs. this predicted Top-25 - Six B1G teams are in this Top-25 - No. 5 UCLA 8-0, No. 6 Indiana 8-1, No. 10 Ohio State 6-2, No. 15 USC 7-2, No. 22 Iowa 6-2, and No. 25 Northwestern 6-2. 10 SEC teams in the Top 25, including 3-loss No. 20 South Carolina and 3-loss No. 21 Florida. On3's prediction shows the PO committee buying Greg Sankey's SEC schedule strength argument. Greg certainly has a point after the SEC went 10-2 against P4 opponents out of conference. But ten of the 16 SEC teams ranked? Greg's SOS point is also strengthened by the Preseason AP Poll Top-25 Oregon, Michigan, Penn State, and Washington not in the Week 9-10 AP Top-25. Ok. What a difference a couple weeks make. Know it was just Montana St. AND the first game of the season but; Whatever Stubblefield is selling the playa's are buying. Best ball movement and rebounding I have seen from a Duck BB team in over a year. Some of the no looks and "alleyoopish" passes were something you see from teams ...mid season. FIVE! FIVE! players in double digits. If this team can just meet consistently this level of play then maybe, just maybe, this season won't be such a "train wreck" I was anticipating it to be days after Altman's retirement and the the turnover-fest up at Seattle U. Here's hoping that Oregon 🦆🏀🪨's! Go Quackers!- So, Oregon Could Knock Ohio State OUT of the Playoffs?
I feel confident that if the Ducks score more points that tOSU they will win.- Marsh Duck - Oregon's Win Over Northwestern is a Testament to Experience
Against Ohio State? Yeah I'm not sure. The Ohio State offense has problems and so does their defense. I have a feeling this might turn into a defensive slugfest and one that I think every point will matter. When it comes to the Oregon offense it doesn't need to be fancy it just needs to be executed and minimize the mistakes. That's not to say the Ducks shouldn't take some shots down the field (they kinda need to) but it will be about building a sequence of plays that makes sense. Maybe that take that deep shot on first down and if it's incomplete don't follow second and third down with bad screen play. This was a Mehringer problem (granted I only have one game's worth of observations on Jay Johnson) where Mehringer would have a bad call and continue to follow it up with increasingly desperate calls. That can't be the case against Ohio State even in their weakened state. There will be three-and-outs there will be stalled out drives. It will be about leaning into what works and executing it. - MBB: Coverage of Men's Basketball Program (4)
