  2. Oregon's blowout win over Ohio State wouldn't have happened without these 4 overlooked starsAutzen ZooOregon's blowout win over Ohio State wouldn't have happen...To go on the road and pick off a team as talented as Ohio State, it truly takes everyone to make an upset happen. On Saturday, Oregon got massive contributions
  3. Multiple schools would fire their current head coaches and hire Day. He is a proven commodity that others would pay dearly for. Day is 88-15 in 7 plus seasons. Don't see tOSU parting ways with Day. Even if that happens a few seasons down the road, Day would have his pick of most schools. DL falls into that category, too. Good advice to be careful for what you wish for. Of course, at tOSU, a 4th loss this season at the hands of Michigan would set off a firestorm for Day. Go Ducks! Beat Michigan
  4. May be the AD or a booster provide input. Do you really feel that DL needs to be micro managed by the AD and a booster? The AD or boosters know to not clip DL's wings with a power play. Most all of the P4 Schools would fire their HC to get DL.DL is a proven winner. DL promoted internally because the new OC and DC had earned his trust. They knew what DL wanted. They already had relationships with the players and recruits. None of us know the behind the scenes stripes that Meh earned to have DL's trust and confidence. The AD signed off and had their contracts prepared and approved. Remember DL had successful hires in DIlly and Stein as OC. DL is a communicator and he most likely knows the vision forward for his program. And has conveyed that to the AD and booxter. There is and was no guarantee that a new hire would work out or succeed. Is that a reason to micro manage a 54-11 coach with back to back CFP appearances? Thank our lucky stars that Mullen didn't listen to former players and boosters to hire Wilcox.... DL will do his due diligence and make his hire. He will have a 5 game or more sample size from Jay to factor into this. DL is more apt to get input from Saban or Smart than his AD or a booster. Also, the DC hire is working out fine. He is learning on the job. A miss on a OC does not bring panic into the process. DL addressed the problem and his choice to hang the interim job to Jay has so far bern successful. DL showed leadership and he is learning on the job, too..
  5. I think Lanning has taken a greater hand in the defense this year as well. If that's the case that's probably something he should continue to do.
  6. I forgot about that! Tatum looked a little awkward, but nailed his throw, but Mateyo looked so natural tracking and catching the ball, the perfectly time hurdle was icing on the cake.
  7. Ohio State fans should be careful what they wish for. Ryan Day isn't going anywhere, but if he did wouldn't that be great? OSU fans don't realize the talent drain that has happened to their roster. It's less insidious than the NFL, but that is just because it happens faster. But don't expect OSU fans to notice. Living in the past is thinking things are still the same they were 3 years ago. We reloaded on D right? Not at all. Maybe Day is doing less with more than Meyers ever did, but Day still has less to work with than Meyer ever did this year too. Certainly he has stubborn coordinators that want to run styles and schemes that don't play to the strengths of the players they have. Day will make changes this off-season. OC, TE coach, and probably a few other position coaches will be gone. But we will continue to steal recruits from OSU (there were recruits at OSU yesterday taking selfies with Dakorian Moore after the game). Lanning is self correcting in real time, but Day is stubborn. Still if OSU insists Day is the problem and let's him go, we'll gladly take him off their hands as OC, or if OSU fans prefer, Michigan could do the same instead.
  8. This team has a top 5 roster so coaches just getting out of the way should get them top 10 results which is now what we're seeing on offense. Good coaches should get them better than top 5 results. Great coaches should have them in the championship conversation. I say let's go for that.
  9. Today

  10. I was listening to College Sports Radio on SXM this morning. Dusty Dvoracek mad a good point that since Lofton had the control when his other foot stepped out of bounds then it should have been a dead ball and a TD. His guest who was a rules expert said the ball was moving in his hands, so he never had total control.
  11. He was a highly rated TE coming out of high school. One of the reasons he chose Oregon over USC was that Lincoln Riley wanted him to play offense.
  12. That's exactly what fans were saying last year when Coach Lanning promoted two coaches to coordinators, including the OC who had a terrible track record in his previous stops. While fans may not make the hire, I don't think the OC hire will be completely up to Coach Lanning after what happened this season. The AD and major boosters will likely have a say in the hire.
  13. No. While he's done a nice job and deserves a shot as OC of a less prestigious school if he wants it, Coach Lanning needs to hire an experienced and can't miss OC. Oregon will open the checkbook after the season.
  14. Except for the two throws that should have been picked by Ohio State defenders, including a pick-six. He needs to stop being so careless with the ball. He is a junior and 3 year starter in the B1G.
  15. This is a real bummer. Tuioti has been playing so well and is one of the team's leaders. Here's hoping it's not as serious as it looks to be.
  16. This was definitely the turning point in the game. The big Mo was on Ohio State's side up until that point. Gusty call by Coach Lanning, as was the decision to go for the TD at the end of the first half. He was playing to win.
  17. Man was that a beautiful play.
  18. I am shocked by the result, just like I was the last time Oregon played in The Shoe. Coach Mehringer must be embarrassed. Oregon has averaged 37.5 points per game since he was fired and scored one fewer point against Ohio State in Columbus than Oregon did the last 3 games COMBINED while he was the Oregon OC, against UCLA, Nebraska and Illinois. Credit to the new play caller. I'm looking forward to the Ohio State game tape breakdown. In the Northwestern game, he simplified things for Raiola, giving him pre-snap reads (with pre-snap motion) and limiting the number of progressions. It allowed him to rip it quickly.

  23. It looked like it was only 1 yd short. I remember the Rose bowl vs Ohio St and our kicker hit the cross bar on a 43 yarder and was good. After the game Kelly was asked his range and he said 43 yds. Two dropped ints by Ohio St. was the difference. The first one would have been a pick six, instead we go on to score. The second would have stopped a TD drive. I think Mari has the real beef on a "non TD catch that would have tied the game late.
  24. Oregon STUNS Ohio State, 41-28: Ducks pick up a HUGE win over Ryan Day, OSU in the Big TenWatch here as Andy & Ari react to the Oregon at Ohio State game from Columbus. As Oregon had the lead at halftime and extended the lead early in the second half, can the Ducks close out this huge win on the road? What's next for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes after this game?
  25. Thankfully the fans don't make any of these coaching decision hires. Fan decisions are born from fanatics, driven with passion, who turn off the game when their team gets behind or has a turnover. Or leave the game early when their team appears to be to far behind. When the weather isn't fair the fair weather fans jump off the band wagon. Oregon and tOSU have their fair share of these fans. NegaDucks and NegaBucks where are you today? But that's okay, we all handle being a fan in our own way. Even if its spur of the moment and knee-jerked. In 7 plus seasons Ryan Day is 88-15. Dan Lanning in 5 plus seasons is 54-11. (My fair weather Duck friends and some on this forum were wanting DL fired after the Illinous game.) I ask any fan to pick better replacements for these successful coaches. Such nonsense, click bait articles. As for Jay Johnson as the Ducks permanent OC. I will trust DL. HIs record speaks for itself. In the last 2 1/2games the Duck Oline has jelled. They are pulling and blocking downfield for big gains. Watch the game again and just watch the lineman. Pass blocking has improved. DR has time to find the open receiver. Or get the ball out quickly. No sacks or INT's the last 2 games. Not that DR hasn't tried to throw a few. JJ has called a game plan that DR has more confidence in. The quick out for 5 to 8 yards puts the Duck O In 2nd and short. Now the entire playbook and field is wide open. DM and ES are impossible to defend on those plays. When NW or tOSU committed to stopping those outs with coverage then Jamari is wide open. If DR and Jamari had been in better sync, OBD's might have put 50 points plus on tOSU. All the credit goes to the Oline and line coach for working so hard to improve each week. And Jay for calling 2 straight successful games. OBD's has the potential to win out and be that one team that no one wants to face in the CFP. As soon as the committee recognizes this they will do their best to stack 3 loss SEC teams ahead of OBD's, USC and even Iowa. This Duck honk would love a rematch in Indy against the Bruins. GO USC, beat IU? Go Ducks! Take care of the up coming Michigan state championship series.
