  2. I know few are happy with offensive output right now, myself included, but there were actually some good highlights in this game. Let's share them. What was your favorite play? No negative remarks in this thread please. There are plenty of other threads for that. My favorite play was Jordon Davison (No. 0) vs Jahsear Whittington (No. 1) 4th-and-1 at the 6-yard line, 43 seconds remaining. The score: Nebraska 14, Oregon 9. Out of the Wildcat formation, Oregon running back Davison (0) took the direct snap but encountered Nebraska’s massive defensive tackle, Whittington (1). Whittington had the size. Davison attacked with power and technique: lower pads and strength conquered sheer mass. Davison crashed into Whittington and knocked the bigger defender backward. They needed one and got two. That set up fourth and goal which led to the final go ahead touchdown.
  3. TWO first downs in the first half?? Coach ... "Hey, let's give BT one more quarter of torture."
  4. The scheme has it's issues for sure but the players are now executing it at a high level, and seemed extremely prepared for everything Nebraska tried to do. This defense is as good or better than the 2019 defense now. The cornerbacks are likely the best cornerback group in college football (next year it won't even be a question). The LBs are hitting the right gaps more often than not and the DL is starting to dominate consistently. There is still room for improvement as well, which I expect to continue. The Lincoln Riley's of the world will continue to exploit the weaknesses of the scheme, but I think our players are finally talented enough and experienced enough to keep that in check. I don't see any team in the country that could score more than 30 on us, which makes this a championship level defense. The problem is there are about 80 teams that could keep us from scoring more than 30 points right now...
  5. The O line is a real issue. Not sure why they play so poorly for huge chunks of games. It baffles me. Maybe its coaching, maybe talent, experience or offensive scheme. All of the above? A ton of money was spent to retain players on this team. How much was spent on O line. I think this coaching staff knew from the start (last January) that the guys in that position group would not be sufficient to win games. I think the donors where informed about the possible issues. They probably didn't want to spend anymore money. Can't blame them, $50 mil is a lot. Just a theory I have. O line is the second most important position group on any football team. I don't know the numbers allocated to O line talent. It just feels like the purse might have been mis-allocated. Did Lanning not go into the portal for O line because he was told there is no more money? Seems plausible to me.
  6. The OC is the real problem. End of story.
  7. I was think about your article once DR went in. Psychology is a funny thing. DR is nails when winning is personal, and a failure when he takes the rat poison.
  8. I think if either were OC we would have been considerably more comfortable and would have probably won by two scores. But the offensive line play was just an outright liability. They sort of figured some things out in the fourth quarter. But this team has some major fundamental problems.
  9. Here's a few problems. A former tight end is coaching the QBs. Some guy is coaching the tight ends. The tight end coach is running the offense.
  10. They are missing their Quarterback and have new coordinators. Plus on the offensive side they are still very young. Plus, when a team goes through some struggle the fans perspective most always changes.
  11. Coaching plain and simple. If Dilly or Stein was the OC we win last night by 30+. Play calling is horrible. Had an explayer sitting in front of me last night..It is the OC.
  12. Today

  13. I know I’m the new guy and I hope my thoughts have relevance here. Yesterday I watched Ohio State/Indiana, Tennessee/Alabama, parts of Florida/Georgia and BYU/Notre Dame before the Ducks took the field. In all of those other games I saw at least one team that had that combination of grit, fire and organization that tells me they’re title contenders. Then there was Oregon/Nebraska. The Ducks have the individual talent to compete with anyone. But something’s missing. Something’s just a little bit off. Tennessee and BYU seemed to have that “NO… you’re NOT going to beat us” attitude. The Ducks were more like “we’re better than you and we can dial it up if we need to but we probably don’t have to”. Is it organization and motivation? Is it coaching? Is it team culture? I can’t put my finger on it but something just feels a little off to me. Am I the only one who feels that way?
  14. That would explain a lot. Definitely worth rewatching the games to look for that. I wonder if someone stole and sold Oregons playbook.
  15. There was a lot of stress in Duck nation for sure. That was easily the most boring exciting head scratching game I’ve experienced in my 55 years as a Duck fan.
  16. I believe in Lanning’s process… mostly. First, I have not the remotest idea of why he kept Thomas in the game for three quarters. What on earth was he thinking? He and we are extremely lucky that the Ducks pulled this one out of the fire. The defense was as good as the offense was bad. Is that Lanning’s defensive genius on display? Maybe so. I am a believer that Lanning is one of the nation’s best head coaches. But he’s also young and has made some glaring mistakes. His OC is no better than most in that position at any group of 6 school. He’s worse than many. Oregon has the money and cachet to hire a top notch experienced coordinator. Someone who loves coaching offense and isn’t as driven to move on to head coaching opportunities. Losing our last two offensive coordinators in very short order definitely caused problems. Promoting someone from within made it worse in my opinion. I’m a Lanning believer but keeping Raiola on the bench for so long is troublesome to say the least. The leash on Thomas was far too long. Just my thoughts.
  17. I believe in Lannings process so far. Clearly the defense has done s 180 as he promised. Its hard to really fix the offense without the main piece which is Dante.. Brock has heart, but he is an emergency QB, not a starter. I was scared we were gonna blow that defensive effort we gave. One game at a time

  20. So I have been pretty silent about criticizing the staff as of late. I am not happy with the defense. Despite how well they played. But...they did what was necessary to win. I'll take that. I wanted to show everyone some things about the defense this week-good and bad. And I understand some of the dynamics of what is happening right now. I need to look at the offense like that as well (I just don't have the time). I may wait until the end of the season to go into the kind of detail I have uncovered. I didn't want to stress everyone out this week. We are rightfully all on edge at the moment. We don't need any more stress than the nightmares we are witnessing right now.
  21. Maybe I am alone in thinking the plays on that last drive looked almost identical to the play calling all game. And I really don't care. I am sure OBD will not win playing, looking or coaching like that all year. But if they win ugly for the rest of my life, they win. I know I will age a thousand years, but I will take it. One damn day at a time. We are trying to solve every problem known to this team this very second. It is not going to happen. Tomorrow is another day. And let's be real here. We have not looked like a championship team Lanning's entire tenure. And he still wins a hell of a lot more than he loses.
  22. Great win for the Gators! Golden Archie? And the Golden Texas roster. 😁
  23. I'm stressed too folks. But I am going to stand by Dan Lanning. WARTS AND ALL. I don't like what I see, and I don't care. I am willing to be patient. I know, and I believe all of us know just how difficult it is to win a title. Indiana got incredibly lucky last year. No matter how much fanfare Cignetti gets. If Carson Beck throws that pass five more yards downfield-Mario Cristobal would have been called a pretty damn good coach. Five yards folks. Remember that when you think Lanning has to be the most brilliant coach this planet has ever produced.
  24. BT took care of the ball, but couldn't move the offense. I was happy to see him get the opportunity to start, but he should have been pulled at the half. I would have loved to see Akili Smith get a chance too, but it was great to watch Dylan get the come-back win against his former team. Still scratching my head about the play calling, but thank goodness for this defense. They are giving the team a chance to win.
  25. I think coaching, scheme, and play calling is more to blame than the specific QB for the horrific first halves the last 2 games. And yes there were some brutal throws. After all of this, Dylan offers more and better chance to win for as long as Dante is out.
  26. On the worst day for top-ranked teams since 1936, a win is a good win. Five of the top 10-ranked teams lost. Four ranked teams from the SEC lost: Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and Missouri. Will find out later today if the losses to other SEC teams will be considered to be losses. The defense could carry OBD to the playoffs. This was a better effort on defense than Indiana played against Nebraska. If Ohio State can keep winning with Julian Sayin out for at least three weeks, and OBD keeps winning, a win in Columbus would put Oregon in the top 12. 27. It looked great in every respect. Something that we expected from the start of the season and started seeing against USC and UCLA. The offensive line looked better. Nebraska is good team. They took Indiana to the wire in their only earlier loss. I almost have the feeling like the one after The Pick, which fueled our 1994 season.
