  2. After a tough loss I don't read anything, just ignore all the rehashing. I have a hard time getting too low because like many of you, we have followed the ducks when a 4 win season was great, the dream of a bowl game was just that, a dream. I also understand the expectations have changed, for good reason. After a loss I just think back about all the games we lost 45-0, and then I feel better. We are relevant every year, that is what I feel is important. I looked back but I didn't see this play talked about, if it was just ignore this part of the post. It was a "12 man on the field" type play. It was at the end of the UCLA game. UCLA had just ran for 8 yards on first down so it was 2nd & 2 at the 2 min warning. Oregon had to stop them from getting 2 yards or the game would be over cause they would have run out of time outs. Instead what Lanning did was have Uliagalelei reach over and touch the Offensive lineman for off sides and to give them a first down. Now they had 10 yards to go and they didn't t use a time out. They stopped them and got the ball back. If they hadn't done that they would never got the ball back. He gave his team a chance to win, just what a good coach is supposed to do.
  3. My negativity is usually short lived. Successive games of poor play and coaching compounds and extends the half life though. Something I am finding more difficult to move past is the institution of CFB as a whole. I am pretty frustrated with the direction the college game is going. The further down the road we go, the more it seems to infect all involved in the game. Especially at the player level.
  4. Hmm, maybe create an anything-goes thread and give people an outlet, but delete the content every 24 hours.
  5. I don't know, where is the Green and Yellow? Look like Oregon.

  8. For a lot of "fans", of a lot of different sports, the illusion is that if you don't go undefeated, blow out opponents by double digits, have multiple top "draft choices", and win the championship every year, then the season is a bust! I get it, I understand it, and in a world that tends to beardown daily on people's lives who are just looking for a consistent "win" or "winner" in their lives, get highly frustrated when the plans and prognostications fail them. For me, l at least, following my "favorite teams" is a pastime, a break, a non serious distraction from the grind that each day/week/month provides. But I always try to keep my fandom in perspective and try to appreciate what it provides as a release and a comaradity with fellow fans. Not to say I don't get frustrated or even angry at substandard results but in the perspective of our lives, fandom should NOT get one so worked up that they lose the fun in just appreciating high level play by highly skilled and talented human beings in an arena of competition. Even if you don't "win" in the end. To quote a character played by the late, great, Sir Patrick Stewart... "It is possible to commit NO mistakes and still Lose. That is NOT a Weakness. That is simply Life." Enjoy what you can and let the unenjoyable roll off your back like any good Duck will do. 🦆🏈🪨's
  9. Exactly, and if you want to see a really poorly coached team, then put a bunch of fools like me on the side line. Doesn't matter how talented the players are we would seldom win a game. But I talk a good game on Monday morning.
  10. This would allow the Ducks to make the B1G championship game which and a win would be the sure way to make the playoffs. My biggest rooting this week is for the Ducks to beat Ohio State in Columbus. That is the biggest game of all the college games left to play this year for the Duck's chances. I'm not convinced OBD are out of the playoff picture without a B1G championship game win. Here's why. If the team that played the final 21/2 quarters vs Northwestern is the the Ducks team going forward there is a chance of winning out. Beat Ohio St. in Columbus (certainly a big challenge but doable, I think our back up QB is better than theirs) Beat Michigan at home (not as big a challenge, but take nothing for granted at this point but doable) Beat Michigan St. on the road - definitely doable Beat Washington at home - again definitely doable That's 9-3 with wins over Boise, USC, Nebraska, Northwestern and Ohio St. All in contention for a playoff birth though certainly not sure things. Losses to: Oklahoma St. who has a chance to win out themselves and be 9-3, Texas Tech will be tough, but its a home game and they have not lost at home this season (39 vs OBD is the least they have scored at home). UCLA still undefeated at this time by 2. and Illinois which could be the only really bad loss (looking at their remaining schedule they could end up 5-7, if they manage to go 2-2 the rest of the way they are a respectable 7-5) Given that our worst games were following an injury to our starting QB and it took time to adjust, that we made a needed adjustment in the coaching staff (jury's still out but the first game was promising), we will have won 5 straight games... that 9-3 record vs. one of the tougher schedules in college football and considering the circumstances, presents a good case for the Ducks to be in. I think if we win out and look pretty good doing it, we are in.
  11. I have been on sabbatical from here since 9/6/26 because of this very phenomenon. Sometimes the hyper focus on one specific element can feel like ranting, but I get why it happens…but it made me lose interest. A recent example of “hyper” focus that cracked me up a bit while peeking in was the focus of a thread or two (prior to the first official rankings being released) on winning the conference championship as being the only path to the playoff. I am, and was, pretty sure our best path forward is to win out and NOT even play in the championship game. It is almost 💯 certain there will be multiple 9-3 teams in the field this year, and given how the season has unfolded, if we somehow managed to win out, we’d probably be in. Suddenly the first official rankings come out, and oh, look at that, we be ranked. Anyways, I’m sure I’ll end the sabbatical eventually, but everyone keep the OBD faith burning. Starting next year we probably will have an 8-4 make the expanded tournament, so we won’t have to collectively crash and burn if we start out 4-2 😆

  15. Ok, here is how to root this weekend to improve our chances (Yes, I'm saying "you mean we have a chance") Nebraska over Illinois since Illinois holds the tie breaker over us. UCLA over Minnesota, we need UCLA to win out. Rutgers over Wisconsin, as long as Wisky only has two losses we need them to have a third. NW (we have the tie breaker) over Iowa (another two loss team) Bonus . . . Indiana to lose two in a row . . . the bye week and then SC. 16. Charles, thanks for putting up this video/podcast. The guys did a great job of pointing out the very subtle changes that Jay Johnson utilized. He played to the strengths of his players. He didn't ask lineman to do things that are not in their skill set. The pin and pull concept was very effective on pre-called run plays. The lineman and tightends assignments were simple, if within the defensive alignment you had a body aligned on you, then pin that player. If no player was lined up on you then pull to the assigned side of the field the play was called. D backs, safeties and outside LB's are not expecting 330 pound lineman freight training at them with a full head of steam. Forum members there was a reason that the Ducks had some big yardage on outside runs. For those fans who don't know some of the X's and O's of the game, this video will enhance your understanding of the Duck O. Jamari had an incredible game executing his blocking assignments. Shortening DR's progressions to half the field was brilliant. The ball got out quickly to an assigned receiver for low risk and positive gains. You know the Oline gave up no sacks. They asked DR to do less, play to his strengths and they got more success from him. Bringing either Dak or Evan across the field, back into DR's reduced field progressions was superb. Who can cover those 2 players slanting in from the backside. As you watch the clips and listen to the analysis, you will really look forward to this weeks game. I look forward to reading the posts and comments of those who take the time to view this. GO DUCKS.

  19. Mummy mode 2.0 I like these. Home runs on the uni 2 weeks in a row.
  20. Moore will miss a minimum of 8 games. Thats double Tua numbers. Maybe he has permanent brain damage. I don't know. Tua missed 2 games after getting hauled off to the hospital. The week before he was injured on a sack they called a back injury, probably concussion tho. This led to huge changes in NFL rules. At this point, Moore is either permanently damaged and the risk of a second concussion is super risky to life time health or he is just scared (understandable). Not sure which. Either way, he should retire from football before he gets himself hurt permanently. I hope he moves on to the draft, he is no longer, imo, a viable option at QB for Oregon. It's odd to me that these decisions to shut it down come in the wake of huge payoffs in NIL. It will be interesting to see if SID (shut it down) becomes a trend after injury for players that come back for one more year. Food for thought.
  21. I get the feeling OBD like wearing black when they face the Buckeyes.
  22. Hmm, Am I a negaduck? I haven't picked the opponent once.
  23. What are you seeing that I’m missing? In my perspective, Davison has looked injured all year. For Moore, there is a small percentage of concussions that linger and it’s entirely possible that is what is happening. I don’t see either Davison or Moore helping their financial futures by not playing. If Moore came back and led the team to victory, especially if the offense hummed with him leading, his draft prospects would improve dramatically ($$$$). For running backs especially, getting a reputation for being constantly injured is a kiss of death.
  24. I fear we are Arthur Fonzarelli waterskiing at this point.
  25. I’m still here. 🤣 Seriously, though. Last week looked promising. I hope we boatrace tosu next week.
