  1. Finally, my blood pressure is returning to normal 🤢🥵😵‍💫
  2. I will be doing a lot of scoreboard watching tonight. Our Ducks are in a two-way tie with Purdue for 4th place in the conference standings. Although mathematically possible that Oregon could end up in 2nd place, they need to secure a top four finish in the regular season for an opening round bye in the Big tournament games. The Ducks own the tie-breaker over Nebraska and Purdue, while Michigan has the tie-breaker over Oregon. Twelve of the conference teams advance to the tournament, while five are eliminated. At this time, Maryland and Northwestern are eliminated, which means three more schools will be eliminated after this weeks games. Games to follow this week-end: Ohio St. at Michigan Nebraska at Minnesota Purdue at Iowa Duck fans need to pull for Ohio St., Minnesota and Iowa.
  3. Several Division 1 baseball teams are cancelling late-season games, particularly mid-week matchups against lower-ranked opponents, to protect their RPI and enhance their chances for an NCAA tournament at-large bid. The NCAA has formally warned coaches that this practice, often used to avoid a potential loss that would significantly damage tournament resumes, could lead to negative evaluations. NCAA warning: The division 1 baseball oversight committee sent a letter to coaches on May 6th 2026, stating that games cancelled to avoid the impact of mathematical metrics will be discussed and could have a negative impact on the sub-committee's evaluation of a team. Targeted cancellations: Teams are accused of calling off games for non-weather reasons to avoid losing ranking points in the 25% RPI formula. That heavily weighs opponent winning percentages. Some of the schools cancelling games are listed below, along with the RPI ranking. Oregon (20) - Grand Canyon (211) N.C. St. (41) - N.C. A&T (279) Virginia Tech (39) - Marshall (175) Kentucky (33) - N. Kentucky (276) Miami (Fl) (35) - FIU (219) B.C. (29) - U. Mass Lowell (229)
  4. Ouch indeed, guys. Andrew Nemec doesn't sugarcoat it like some articles I've read. Just like last year's disaster, we could see another face plant for the next two years. This could happen if Dana Altman stays as Oregon's coach, unless he leaves after this upcoming season. The article states that he refuses to hire a general manager, instead having his assistant coaches deal with the NIL. One anonymous source says the Ducks NIL issue is a 'hot mess'. Not something any Duck fan wants to hear. While I have always liked Altman, me thinks it's time to look for an up and coming new coach to turn this program around.
  5. Here's a look at the contenders. 1st place UCLA 24-0 2nd place Oregon 17-7 (tie) Nebraska 17-7 4th place USC 19-8 5th place Michigan 15-9 (tie) Purdue 15-9 In the Big Ten tournament, the top four teams receive a bye. The 5th place through 12th place teams play a double elimination series. The four winners play the top four seeds. Listed below are the remaining schedules for the top six clubs. UCLA Home (3) Oregon Road (3) Washington 10-14 Oregon Home (3) USC Road (3) UCLA Nebraska Home (3) Iowa 12-12 Road (3) Minnesota 10-14 USC Home (0) Road (3) Oregon Michigan Home (3) Ohio St. 13-11 Road (3) Minnesota Purdue Home (3) Indiana 7-17 Road (3) Iowa OBD has the toughest remaining schedule of all the teams. It's imperative that they finish in the top four. In case of a tie, our Ducks hold the tie-breaker over Nebraska and Purdue. Michigan holds the tie-breaker over Oregon.
  6. As a newcomer, I also want to thank you Charles for all the work you have done. Whether reading articles and comments or occasionally leaving a comment of my own, this has been my go to website for all things Ducks. Much appreciated.
  7. Congratulations to Coach Altman and his staff. This is welcome news for Ducks basketball. If they can get Vyctorius Miller to sign also, this basketball program will be headed in the right direction.
  8. I like the idea of having multiple pitchers play during a mid-week game. It gives all the guys a taste of what it's like to be in the spotlight, even if it's just for one inning. This will pay off in the long run as some of these guys will be called upon during the upcoming playoffs.
  9. On Wednesday April 22nd, the Ducks landed # 1 QB Will Mencl. On Tuesday April 28th, the Ducks lost out to Kansas for the # 1 basketball player Tyran Stokes. Today Oregon got Fred Payne, a three *** star player according to 247 Sports. He was ranked the # 187 best player available. Let that sink in for a moment. This is all I need to know. The University of Oregon's hierarchy emphasizes football over basketball. I don't know if they're trying to force Dana Altman out or if they simply don't care about basketball. It's not a good look when they can only fill Matthew Knight Arena to 50% capacity. Better players generate more wins, which in turn fill the arena which brings in a lot of money. Altman has two more years on his contract. I'm guessing Duck basketball will be an after thought until he is replaced by a young guy who has the charisma and can better relate to the players. I've always like Coach Altman but think his time as coach is running out.
  10. I can hear it now. All the whining and complaining about teams ranked 77-80 saying it's not fair. We should have been included! 😅🤣😂
  11. The B1G Ten tournament, featuring 12 teams, will have a new look this spring. The first three days of the tournament will feature a double-elimination brackets, pairing eight teams seeded 5-12. Four games will be held on Tuesday May 19th and Wednesday May 20th and two games on Thursday May 21st to produce four qualifiers. The four advancing teams will face seeds 1-4 in a single elimination quarterfinals on Friday May 22nd. Semi-finals take place on Saturday May 23rd, followed by the championship game On Sunday, May 24th. All 17 tournament games will be carried live on the B1G Ten network. The Nebraska Cornhuskers have captured the last two titles. The games will be played at Charles Schwab field in Omaha, Nebraska. Our Ducks are currently in 4th place. With home games against Penn St. and USC, road games against Washington and UCLA, they face a challenge, especially against the Trojans and Bruins. It's imperative that they finish in the top four. Schools that finish between the 5 and 12 seeds simply won't have enough pitching to win the tournament. The Bruins will probably win it, but a runner-up for 2nd place would be quite the accomplishment for Oregon.
  12. What? I thought the Beavers and Ducks loved the rain. 😅🤣😂
  13. I thought the same thing. Hope we can get some power four studs to fill out the roster.
  14. Wow! Thanks for the in-depth research. This puts things in perspective. To think that our Ducks are mentioned in the same sentence as Ohio State and Georgia shows how far Oregon is committed to a winning tradition.
  15. That was a very entertaining game to watch. Although I was pulling for our B1G conference Badgers to win, I was happy to see that Kyle Chyzowski scored the game-winning goal. For those who don't follow hockey, his name is familiar to Portland Winterhawk fans. He played five season in Portland, amassing 273 regular season and 56 playoff games. Congratulations to the Pioneers and Kyle.
  16. "Fortunately, we've got some people who want to see us get back to where we've been. And we've got to make those figures match and get guys we need". - Coach Dana Altman This is a promising start. Besides Stewart and Riley IV, the Ducks have Ariza, Harrison (basketball and football) and Seven Spurlock. According to ESPN, these are four **** players. The most sought after player is Tyran Stokes. He has narrowed his choices to Kansas, Kentucky and Oregon. I don't believe the Ducks can afford him unless they get into a bidding war.
  17. Unfortunately, the Ducks 'Achilles Heel' is their pitching. Besides that, they have a solid team.
  18. Why would Coach 'Was' keep Clarke in the game when he was being pummeled. He's got 23 pitchers on the roster. The way I read this is that he is not confident in his relievers. Not a good look.
  19. Just saw this...On April 7th, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (double AA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) defeated the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) by a score of 12-7. The Fisher Cats scored 10 runs in the second inning with only one hit. Two Portland pitchers combined for 10 earned runs on eight walks, four wild pitches, two hit batters, one sacrifice fly and a single. And all those runs came after there were two outs in the inning. Baseball sure is a strange game at times.
  20. What about Devon Pryer and JJ Frakes? Have they also hit the transfer portal?
  21. Congratulations to No. 1 seed Michigan Wolverines for their basketball championship. And to the Illinois Illini for reaching the final four. Quite the accomplishment. Looking ahead at the way-too-early rankings for the 2026-2027 basketball season, there are SEVEN B1G schools in the top 25. No. 1 Michigan No. 6 Michigan St. No. 8 Illinois No. 14 Purdue No. 17 USC No. 18 Nebraska No. 25 Iowa. Just looking at that will give Duck fans a sinking feeling for the upcoming basketball season. In the PAC, Oregon only had Arizona and UCLA to contend with. Understandingly, attendance has been down. For B1G games, Matthew Knight Arena attendance was roughly 55% capacity. A lot of lost revenue for the school. In contrast, only USC, Washington, Rutgers and Northwestern have smaller arenas than Oregon. Switching to football, even though the Ducks fill the stadium with standing room only patrons, (59,000 plus) its still small potatoes compared to the other schools. Only Indiana, Rutgers, Maryland, Minnesota and Northwestern have small stadiums. And finally hockey. Guess who the No. 1 seed is for the "Frozen Four?" The Michigan Wolverines! How about that. And the Wisconsin Badgers are also in the frozen four. The B1G is well represented in football, basketball and hockey. For any Duck fan who enjoys hockey, here is the schedule: Thursday April 9th 2pm ESPN2 No. 2 North Dakota Bisons vs. Wisconsin Badgers Thursday April 9th 5:30 pm ESPN2 No. 1 Michigan Wolverines vs. Denver Pioneers Saturday April 11th 2:30pm ESPN Championship All games played in Las Vegas
  22. In the last decade, the PAC-12 conference de-emphasized basketball. The focus was on Olympic sports, softball and tennis. And who was the commissioner at this time?...Larry Scott. He ran the conference (into the ground) from 2009 through 2021. He was the chairman and CEO of the woman's tennis association. The university presidents made the wrong choice when they hired him. And now were paying the price.
  23. Unless Oregon throws money to the basketball program like they do the football program, they will be small potatoes. But as the article states, even blue bloods like Kentucky, (22 million) doesn't guarantee a trip to the final four. Coaching, chemistry, an injury free season all play a part of it. Signing players outside the power four conferences and power four bench warmers isn't going to cut it. What's needed is two studs and three very good players for the starting five and a deep bench (four players) to take it to the next level.
