5* OL Portal Target Visiting Oregon
Mario and his merry men are doing it again. Not enough to have Big Ten Wisconsin suing you, why not bring on a suit from ACC 'friend' Duke? Miami was a pariah when Mario played there, and nothing has changed. On3Duke University sues QB Darian Mensah to keep him with fo....

Oregon Ducks 2026 Recruiting Class Moves up to No. 2 with Latest Commitment
Great post, NJ, thanks. Second overall, but No. 1 in Quality over Quantity. Fabulous Frosh showed up in Eugene last season. I hope we see more of the same this year. Of course, recruiting still matters, but last night, Cig, Fernando, and Indiana broke through the Blue Chip Roster Championship ceiling. A ceiling that was inviolate since the first BCS game in 1999. (There must be at least one window in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. How else could the Hoosiers have Defenestrated the Ducks? 🤬)

Is Change Coming to Oregon?
Thank you, David. Whatever the secret sauce may be, I'm hoping next season ends with a bang and not a whimper. Last night, the Good Guys advanced into enemy territory and won. Why not OBD? Please?

5* OL Portal Target Visiting Oregon
Zip, nada, nyet, nulla. Indiana is the 1st team in CFB to win a BCS or Playoff title without fielding a Blue Chip Roster. Just adds to the glory of a CFB fiction-like story.

National Championship Game Discussion
I CAN HEAR THE DRUMS, FERNANDO! Hats off to the Hoosiers, Cig, Fernando, and whoever is writing CFB fiction in the home of the football gods. And Forum Friend, Doctor J, you almost nailed it. 3-peat - Stop treating the middle of the SEC like show dogs and the middle of the B1G like dog meat. OK, the final act in terrific OBD seasons was not Ducky, but OBD did lose to the College Football Champions, again. 🤬 Now, make sure that next season, The Trophy does not stay in Vegas, but heads to Eugene instead. From the losingest team in CFB to a title in two seasons! 16-0 - Move over, Yale.

Holy Hoosiers! Six Degrees of Separation? How about One Degree?
How about 1 more? Mark Cuban, like Coach Cignetti, was born and raised in Pittsburgh. They were born in the same hospital. Doctor!

Prediction Contest for the 'Natty! Indiana vs. Miami....Join Us!
Hoo, Hoo, Hoosiers! 41 - 27 Miami TOs - 3 Sacks by IU - 3 285 pass yards - same as Fernando had vs. MIA in 2024. But this time, Fernando wins! Beck is not Cam Ward. I still hear the drums, Fernando. Go home and bring a football trophy back to Bloomington!

Caleb Williams Has Improved at Chicago, but the REAL Question is....?
Charles, like the stadium last night, this post was Chilly - 🥶[LOL!] I would like to see two SC guys competing for the NFC title and a berth in the Super Bowl. But, we now get an interesting matchup of B1G's, Sam Darnold vs. the SEC's, venerable Matthew Stafford, battling it out in Seattle. The Sunshine Boys won in freezing weather. No Bo vs. the Pats (SIGH 🤬.) But a guy who played at Auburn, Jarrett Stidham, will try to win his first PO start. I don't think he can play any worse than tOSU and Texan QB JT Stroud, played yesterday in tropical Foxboro, Massachusetts. Great post!

Holy Hoosiers! Six Degrees of Separation? How about One Degree?
Believe it or not, it isn't all about the $$$ - Tonight, will Mass beat Axx, er, Butt, or will Indiana's fiction-like run end with the Trophy? This is Clair Bee, Chip Hilton, boy sports hero stuff. Bobby Knight was a fan of Chip Hilton, but he frequently failed to follow Chip's example. Chip never cussed, talked trash, or threw chairs. 😇 Come on, Fernando, move one step closer to the CFB Triple Crown, Heisman, Natty, and 1st pick in the NFL draft, plus a B1G 3-peat. By the way, Fernando committed to Indiana on Christmas Eve. 😁 SIThrough Unwavering Faith, Fernando Mendoza Brings His Dec...Once overlooked, the quarterback kept pushing to Cal and now Indiana en route to the Heisman Trophy and one win from immortality.

Holy Hoosiers! Six Degrees of Separation? How about One Degree?
Preseason No. 10 Miami versus Preseason No. 20 Indiana for all of the CFB marbles. Who knew? NEMO = Latin for 'Nobody.' COINCIDENCE - Two or more events coming together in a surprising, unexpected way ... Of course, with both Miami and Indiana theoretically in the running for a title matchup, Monday night's championship game is not outside the probability of happening, but it's close. If you could have placed a preseason $1000 bet on the Canes vs. the Hoosiers playing for a title, you could be in Hawaii today, shopping for an ocean and golf view condo. Both Curt Cignetti and Mario Cristobal coached for Nick Saban at Alabama. With Saint Nick's coaching tree, this is not a big surprise. However ... Indiana DC Bryant Haines and Miami DC Corey Heatherman coached for Curt Cignetti at JMU, with Haines reporting to Heatherman. Haines was the Best Man at Heatherman's wedding. ... Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza, Jr., grew up less than five miles from the Miami campus, and was a Hurricanes fan growing up. He was disappointed when Miami did not give him a chance to join the football team as a walk-on. ... Indiana is trying to join the 1894 Yale team as the only college football team to finish a season 16-0. Mendoza was committed to Yale before receiving an offer from and attending Cal, where he received his B.A. in three years. ... In October of 2024, with the College GameDay crew in Berkeley for its first visit to Cal, Mendoza went up against Mario Cristobal and 2024 Heisman Trophy finalist quarterback Cam Ward. Mendoza, pressured on 43% of his drop-backs, threw for 285 yards and two TDs, leading Cal to a 25-point lead. Cal lost, 39-38. But among others, Indiana's new coach, Curt Cignetti, with Fernando's brother Alberto on the Hoosiers squad, took notice of Fernando's performance. ... Fernando's Dad, Doctor Fernando Mendoza, Sr., was on the crew team at Brown University. His Mom, Elena, graduated from Miami, where she was a star tennis player and earned undergraduate and MBA degrees. ... Doctor Mendoza played high school football at Miami's Christopher Columbus High School. He played on the O-line with Miami coaches Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal. Seven Christopher Columbus graduates will be on the champ game sidelines. ... Angelo Pizzo wrote the screenplays for the movies 'Hoosiers' and 'Rudy.' Pizzo grew up one mile from the Indiana campus in Bloomington. Like his Dad, Pizzo graduated from IU, attended all the Indiana games with his father through mostly bad times, and has been an Indiana football season ticket holder since his graduation. Among many others, Angelo knows that you can't make this stuff up. ... Below is a CBS Sports article on where the Indiana football renaissance ranks, not only in college football but in all of sports history. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/indiana-football-greatest-sports-stories/ Come Out Smokin' Cigs! 3-peat, 3-peat, 3-peat!

Prediction: Mario and ‘The U’ Beat Indiana by Double Digits
If you didn't work for Nick Saban, you worked for Curt Cignetti, right? Another terrific back story - The Groom DC is battling his Best Man DC. ESPN and SP+ Bill Connolly's In Depth Look at Miami, Indiana, and the Champ Game
Bill Connolly is one of the best pregame prognosticators. I posted this article elsewhere, but I think it deserves its own topic. Come on, Hoosiers! Make a B1G 3-peat happen! Then, perhaps, mid-level B1G teams will not be treated like dog meat by pollsters? And a win against the bottom 6 of the SEC will not be a big deal. And the 2030 media money? Even B1Gger than expected. ESPN.comCFP National Championship preview: Keys to victory for In...Will the Hoosiers cap an undefeated season, or can the Canes pull off a stunner? What to Know About Upcoming Playoff Changes…
Regarding CFB's future, here's a nugget from Jon Wilner, formerly of The Pac-12 Hotline, which is now The Wilner Hotline. ($ wall) Michigan's new leader is Kent Syvered, transferring to Ann Arbor from his former job as Chancellor of Syracuse University. While at Syracuse, Syvered led a group of college presidents intent on having the biggest college football and basketball brands, leaving the NCAA and its rules and regulations behind. The group disbanded, and we haven't seen the formation of a Super Conference, but wait a minute. New CFB media deals begin in 2030 with the B1G. The B12 in 2032, and the SEC follows through 2034. The ACC exit fee drops every season through 2030, to a 'reasonable' $75 million. ESPN's exclusive playoff broadcast deal ends in 2032. It was Michigan, with an assist from USC, that blocked a B1G private equity deal that would have had B1G media rights pledged to the 'lender' through 2042, and possibly through 2046 if the 'lender' exercised an option to continue for four more years in 2042. Without the B1G, the Super Conference would not be Super. "Hail, hail to Michigan, the leaders and best." Hmmmm. 🤔
