WSJ - Is It Rude To Win a Game 84-0?
The biggest issue was the optics of scoring again with 29 seconds left. My question, is 12 TD's really that much worse than 11?! Not to me. I believe the issue is mostly cuz it's Oregon. Don't know why exactly, but we seem to be a team some love to hate on. That and peops who haven't played sports (mostly moms) who are afraid of hurt feelings. Remember the TV intro to 'Wide World of Sports', "the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat". That guy falling off the ski jump had to live with that for years! Those PSU players will always remember they played against Oregon. Not whether it was 11 or 12 TD's. Sco Ducks! Overwhelm the Condoms!

I'm Glad We Lost!
We were 48-8 after 4 full seasons with coach Lanning. 4 of those losses were to that seasons eventual national champion. 2 others were to that seasons runner up. That's 6 of 8 losses to teams in the Natty. Not bad for a first time new head coach. I agree losing may end up being the best thing to happen because we as people seem to learn best from adversity. We fans have clearly become spoiled. It's hard not to with as much winning as we have experienced with coach Lanning. A saying I like, "don't doubt in the dark what has been proven to be true in the light". Lanning has hired 3 previous coordinators, all 3 are now head coaches of D1 programs. Pretty good percentage. I gotta believe he knows a thing or two about hiring. So I need to trust the process and give our new OC and DC some room to prove him right. Last week's game was a valuable wake up. Let's hope the coaches learn, the players learn, and this seasons team will reach their real potential. I've been a Duck for 50 years. I gotta believe that this is our year. (Or maybe next year 😉)

What is the Value of OOC Games?
Why do we bother with OOC games? If we play Patsy's, like most do (including us the next few seasons) the games are boring and don't prove much. Plus it's harder to fill a stadium. If we play a quality team like Boise, we risk being down-graded for not winning by enough, or worse, losing and risk making the playoffs. Teams also risk injuries. As many teams did in week 1, like Okie St losing their starting left OT. It used to be that strength of schedule mattered, but clearly the playoff committee doesn't see things the same as fans do as evidenced by the last few years selections. The 24 team playoff idea seems to require 10 season games against Power 4 opponents. Maybe it's time to drop the OOC wimps. So tell me, what is the value, purpose, or goal of the 3 OOC games each year?

Time To Believe Your Own Eyes?
Who is playing playoff caliber football week 1 or even 2?! It's a long season. Improvement comes from practice, yes, but more importantly, actually playing the games. The best thing that could have happened did. The guys realized preseason press and hype isn't worth much. They dug down deep and fought through and won a good game against a quality opponent. Our guys learned something from this game. What did all those teams beating up on weak teams learn? I think we caught a glimpse of just how good we can be this year. All those mistakes, an O-line still developing and still 497 yards of offense! The defense is still learning to work together. Their 1st TD was a mistake by new players working together misreading the switch. A young linebacker crew learning to read and make defensive calls. All in all, lots of room for improvement, but oh, the potential is real!

Marsh Duck - Quick Quacks Oregon v Boise State
As coach says, "it's never as bad or as good as it seems". Another favorite, "most improvement comes between week 1 and 2". I'll say this, a win is a win is a win. We played with more mistakes than I have seen in a long time. And yet had almost 500 yards of offense. We were 0-fer on 4th down, had many terribly timed needless penalties, but held on for a gutsy win against a well coached team that could win the Pac (8)nt and be ranked. I'm taking the dub, licking my chops for the Okie Cowboys and glad Duck football is finally here. This is gonna be a great year! Go Ducks! 🦆❤️🦆

Week 1 - 91 Games and 1 Top 25 vs Top 25 Matchup - But B1G Games Will Be Played - Hurrah!
Thanks for the awesome update. Great weekend to finish my summer projects, excluding Sat. afternoon of course. Go Ducks!

Stunning Crowd for USC at the Coliseum...
I dare say that Autzen would have been full against SJSU if the weather had been 97°! This normally would not be an issue for most teams, but this is USuC. The one true "blue blood" on the west coast. (Just ask them.) So this is an embarrassment to them. They seem to have fickle fans. Oregon fans show up even for a spring game. Ah, the joys of a new season of college football and social media roasts for fans. This is why we are so glad CFB is back. A full day of games, and 6 days of trolling our adversaries.

Will Lanning Run-It-Up to Make a Statement?
Lanning doesn't run up the score. Unless it's personal. Everybody who can plays. If the lead gets big enough, a backup QB also. BSU will play hard, but not the same team as last year. We don't have any weaknesses. The O-line has been rated in the top the last 3 years, no drop off this year either. I think we cover until the #3 and #4's get in late. Beat the Broncos!!

The 2026 Preseason AP Poll Is Out - 1st Impressions - Mine and I Hope Yours
I guess we won't catch any team by surprise. We will be the "bowl game" for most teams. So we will have plenty of motivation to not be like PSU or UT last season! As long as the entire team stays off the Sports Illustrated cover! 😜

Is It Really Lanning's Fault?
For what it's worth, I think the Ducks won the 2nd half in both games. So maybe some adjustments were made. I too am a firm believer in our head coach. Since day 1. After all, he has a great name and the right initials.

Thanks all for your insights. Some good stuff here.

Is It Really Lanning's Fault?
Can you direct me to a few past articles? I didn't read much at first cuz I was too disappointed. I agree this is a different team this year with a very high ceiling which I'm very excited about. Personally, I think evenly matched teams sometimes get the hot hand and like in baseball, lose 10-1 in the first game and come back and win 12-3 in the next game. I'm hoping this year is our game 2!

Is It Really Lanning's Fault?
We are 3 weeks from Duck football! A new season is fast approaching and I've been wondering all this off season: What's the real reason for the last 2 seasons ending in such huge losses. 13 wins each season. Great recruiting. Exciting teams. Top rated offensive line 3 years in a row. More players drafted each year. No problems with the law( well, nothing too major). Three assistants to head coaches. All that, and then 2 major disappointments. What have I got to complain about?! So please help me understand, what is the reason for these 2nd time around thrashings. Is it coaching? Experience? Is it just one of those things?

Holy Crap, Your Jersey Number is Now Part of Your NIL and Can't Be Reissued???
Total insanity. It's also ludicrous to believe the Congress could legislate a cure. Funny thing, whenever someone wears #8 at Oregon, we all remember Marcus with fondness. It actually helps perpetuate his legacy. Daniels is short-sighted and apparently has $$ to burn. The vanity of some people!

Too Good Not To Share
Thanks for the update. I didn't realize this had changed. I guess 5 in 5 works out to about the same, but no extension for injuries could be tough. Guess will have to wait until challenged in court.

2026 Football Poll Rankings
Um, the breakdown of Oregon s schedule is the Beavers. CFN made a B1G boo boo!

Too Good Not To Share
Seems to me that experience sticking around longer in college has made the game more entertaining. Thanks to NIL, guys stay another season and mostly improve their draft status and bring more wins too. Allowing 4 games in a redshirt year is a good idea. I hope they keep it. You still need top quality players from highschool. The portal isn't enough by itself.

Washington to the Pac-12?
It's a bit bold to assume they could win 60 - 70% of their games...even in the Pac Ain't! And yes, a relevant athletic department is necessary to keep enrollment up, even at the mighty Udub. Student enrollment is down pretty much everywhere and the trend is continuing. However, the dream of Sat afternoon kickoffs, more regional rivalries and greater affordability is a nice one, albeit a naive one. I'll stick with the Ducks system: great coaches recruiting talented character players, getting them NIL deals, playing in the best conference and kicking everyone else's collective butts!

The Whole FBS Enchilada
The G6 could play for the NCAA championship in football, seeing as currently there isn't one. Btw, the Pac(St)eight should be called the Pac Ain't

Marsh Duck - Should Oregon Move Away from Runningback by Committee?
Since Lanning's arrival, there has not been 1 offensive leader in RB or WR. Yet we have had the 2nd most explosive offense in CFB in that time. Seems to me things are working pretty well. Why change up? I like spreading the ball. RB by committee seems just fine to this ol' Duck fan. I believe in quality, not quantity.

Holy Crap! Never Have I Witnessed This in an Oregon Defense....NEVER
The defense will keep getting the ball back for Dante and friends. The offense will have many opportunities to blow 'craters' in opposing teams. The defense will make sure the offense has "much Moore"! 😉
