  1. It's a bit bold to assume they could win 60 - 70% of their games...even in the Pac Ain't! And yes, a relevant athletic department is necessary to keep enrollment up, even at the mighty Udub. Student enrollment is down pretty much everywhere and the trend is continuing. However, the dream of Sat afternoon kickoffs, more regional rivalries and greater affordability is a nice one, albeit a naive one. I'll stick with the Ducks system: great coaches recruiting talented character players, getting them NIL deals, playing in the best conference and kicking everyone else's collective butts!
  2. The G6 could play for the NCAA championship in football, seeing as currently there isn't one. Btw, the Pac(St)eight should be called the Pac Ain't
  3. Since Lanning's arrival, there has not been 1 offensive leader in RB or WR. Yet we have had the 2nd most explosive offense in CFB in that time. Seems to me things are working pretty well. Why change up? I like spreading the ball. RB by committee seems just fine to this ol' Duck fan. I believe in quality, not quantity.
  4. The defense will keep getting the ball back for Dante and friends. The offense will have many opportunities to blow 'craters' in opposing teams. The defense will make sure the offense has "much Moore"! 😉
  5. This kid has huge upside. I bet he gets a 4th* by end of his senior year. Best them Huskies again! Saweet.
  6. What's awesome to me is that not only are these players quality talent, but quality in character. We're getting great players who are great humans. I love that!
  7. Thanks for the memories! I remembered almost every TD. (I forgot how many bad uniforms we wore though) DAT was my granddaughters favorite all time Duck. Is it August yet?!
  8. Going 0 for 14 with runners in scoring position didn't give our pitchers any help either. Texas is well coached, as are we. Guess it's "wait till next year". Thanks for all the info Charles.
  9. I'd say "unbelievable"! But in today's world, not really too surprising. I just hope this isn't really precedent setting.
  10. Almost..... Way to fight guys. Great season.
  11. Instead of pounding the table, Sankey can pound sand. The 'my conference is better than yours' silliness is all about the mighty $$. In today's world, if you say something loud enough and often enough, that will convince a lot of folks it must be true. The SEC is always pitching itself as the best to get more teams selected for the playoffs and more $$ from TV. Sadly they convince too many too often. Talk is cheap, unless you control the media. Go Ducks. Best the Longhorns.
  12. Hard to believe this is real. Seems so obvious. Pete Rose never bet on his own team, and he was a genuine star player. How long will college sports still be "college".
  13. Gotta say, "I'm love'n it"! Bring back Justin Herbert and we'll beat them in bass fishing too! 🤣
  14. Ok. This is pretty hilarious. These type schedules happen to us yearly. All west coast schools. Not to mention 8 conference games in a row, 2 seasons in a row. Wait till they realize they no longer get a patsy game in November! Forgive me if I offer no condolences and just sit back chuckling, sipping a cold one.
  15. I believe the reinstatement of the Civil War games is to promote and support in-state goodwill. Without trying to be political, it's important for the Ducks to appear to be supportive of in-state schools. We can't be seen as being too successful at their expense. Otherwise we risk involvement by state legislature to "even" the 'paying' field. And amazingly enough, a lot of Oregonians want to see this game. Me personally, I want to see a beat down of embarrassing proportions each and every time! So this is a good move for the Ducks to maintain a positive goodwill by the entire state (and certain legislators). As already mentioned, will be the largest viewing audience of any Beavis game. So $$$ for them. And I imagine the TV broadcast will be on the CW. 😂
  16. Well, good luck with this. I have little faith that our Congress can make anything better...but I guess we need to start somewhere. 🤞
  17. Always great to beat the Dawgs. In any sport. Let's go Ducks!
  18. Great food for thought Mike. "At this level, all teams have strengths". Exactly. We are at the top level for talent and scheme. Now it's about execution and who wants it more. Now is where elite coaching can make the difference. I believe we have great coaches, but can we get that last win! Only other concern is health. The college football season is now a very long one. 8 games in a row can take a toll. I hope our guys hold up. Btw, I hate Fri nite games without a bye first. Short weeks are even tougher.
  19. Until he proves otherwise, it is "in Lanning we trust" in my house. He is one of the most amazing, successful young coaches ever. If he promoted these guys, I'm a believer. His coaching selections have all been excellent. Is it almost August 29th yet?!
  20. It's done He has verballed to be a Duck. Boy are we loaded.
  21. I guess this is a start. The leaders of the major conferences all seem to be supportive. We shall see.
  22. Saaweeet!!! 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆
  23. Has coach Lanning reached his peak? H, E, double hickey stick NO!!! At least that's my opinion. We have gotten so used to winning, we've lost track of reality. Last year we lost to...the National champions. The year before, we lost to...the national champions. The year before that, we lost to...a team who played in the championship game. And that was in Lanning's first 4 years of even being a head coach! Surely DL is allowed a learning curve. He has only won 13 games in each of the last 2 seasons. And in the B1G, not the Pac(st8). All this while the CFB landscape has been changing and shifting almost weekly. How long would it have taken Saben to win it all if he had to deal with NIL and constant portal changes? Motivating players already making bank can't be as easy as you'd think. I have confidence Dan Lanning will win it all, sooner than later.
  24. Gotta question Mr. Fishduck, I thought with the new scholarship rules that teams were limited to how many players could be on the team and no walk-ons allowed. How can the Ducks have 23 on the pitching staff? What am I missing? Btw, great article. Thanks for the info.
  25. I think the Oregon Ducks are for real. Someone already said it, who ever wins the Natty has to go through Oregon. With the playoffs expansion, I expect Oregon to make the field virtually every year. Once there, anyone can win. But only if you get in. It's hard to win it all. So much has to go your way. But Oregon has the ingredients. Some day soon we will get the right bounces. IU's win last year has us doubting. But that was an outlier. A one off. Can they reload and repeat? I won't believe it till I see it. Sure, NIL and the portal make it possible, but still improbable. In Dan I trust. This year should be fun to watch. New coordinator's, an experienced talented QB, great RB's, a WR room to salivate over, a returning talented experienced front 4, tall, rangey, db's, and talented youth. We will be favored in most games. I hope we make it to Vegas. I can drive to that game.
