A man makes his own luck. It's that place where preparedness meets opportunity. Smart and his staff prepared this team and had an opportunity to win in the end. Dawgs are champions. I would love for the Ducks to play them in January 2024. Luck or otherwise.

Ducks get called for targeting a lot. I don't see Lanning as the type of guy that promotes targeting culturally. Ducks aren't out there trying to end guys. Targeting happens. Most targeting calls come down to seconds and inches. Players trying to make a play. Often it's the ball carrier lowering his head to initiate contact, the defensive player gets ejected when contact was initiated by offensive player. IMO, most targeting infractions are unintended. Disqualification is automatic. Seems like an unnecessary hard line. When the NCAA isn't even consistent on what is and isn't targeting from conf to conf or game to game, it's a problem. Disqualification as a hard rule shouldn't be imposed until the NCAA gets a handle on how conferences flag targeting with some consistency. Nix was crowned in the legs... no call. Is it just offensive players they are protecting or should they be protecting defensive players as well. Nix wasn't hit in head/neck, so crown is legal there. The rule makes no sense at times, but the penalty is harsh every time.

Pac refs got it wrong but replay fixed it. TCU got away with one. I don't think CFP wants targeting called. Especially in the semi where a player risks disqualification that possibly bleeds into the NC game. I know we have talked about this rule ad infinitum. But the penalty for targeting need a serious overhaul. Get rid of the disqualification of offending player. 15 yards and auto 1st down. Other than Fusky DB's (lol), nobody is trying to target others purposefully.

I think the best 3 or 4 teams in the Pac would have been competitive. The Pac QB play this year has been some of the best in the country. If you have a QB, you have a chance.

UCLA goes down. Looking for USC to get throttled. Love the beatings the Big is taking right now.

Ducks O can compete with anyone in the country. They are loaded in every position but QB. The shortcomings are inexperienced coaching and QB depth The first game v. UGA counts, it happened and has to be reconciled. First game of everything being new had a lot to do with it. But so did UGA. I think the outcome would be different if we played them Sept 1st game 2023. The bounce back from that game was almost storybook. Defense? Yikes!!! 2 of last three games the defense was respectable. Not great but serviceable. Should be much better next year and close to great year 3. For a first year after near complete turnover, this was a very satisfying season. 10 wins puts you in a great position leading up to next year. Duck coaching staff will learn and adjust this off season. Dan Lanning has a very good football mind. I think he shocks the college football world in year 2. Almost did it in year 1.

This bowl season has been amazing. A ton of entertaining games. What a treat for those of us that love college football at all levels. The 4 that made the playoff aren't separated by much. There are probably several teams that could have competed at a high level yesterday. 12 will be a huge step up for college game.

Stetson Bennett won the NC last year. He drove his team down the field last night for the game winning TD to get in the NC this year. Bennett should be the winner. Numbers be darned. He is THE champ.

SGD, congrats on getting to the big dance. I am torn on who to root for. Duggan os hard to root against. Dudes a warrior. No fear. Just grabbed a fist full of sac and balled out. Good luck to the Dawgs. What a great program. Just winners. I like SEC much more when UGA is top Dawg.

IDK. The bowl officials hand movements were odd. Could have felt creepy to Sark. Also, verbal communication was received and Sark was holding players back. I am going to give Sark benefit of doubt due to the way he was grabbed. Kinda weird.

I am rooting for Keith Brown to have a breakout season next year. He played well in Bowl. 7 tackles, 4 solo.

I am unsure if it works this way, but... Give the kid a full scholarship in track and PWO in football. NIL extends through all sports. You have to get talent, this kid clearly has it. Every progr'm in the country wants this kid. Maybe we can get this kid w/o burning a scholarship.
