We Stink.....
I am with you. Everything has felt "off" this year (I don't count Portland State). The defense finally played up to what I thought they could do this year, but when the offense gives back 6 possessions, that is asking a lot. So much to try to digest on this one.

Worst Offensive Performance Since?
It was absolutely painful. I had zero confidence that we would be able to get into field goal range after the stop. Everything was out of sync on offense. But it has kinda felt that way all year.

We Stink.....
Offense is very out of sync. Screens are getting blown up because guys are missing blocks. DR is struggling with accuracy. Those fumbles were killers also. I am hoping it's first half jitters and he will settle down. The plays are there, the execution is lacking.

Prediction Contest of Oregon vs UCLA....Is Now Locked
I am back to picking OBD.... although I DID pick against them last week and they won. My superstitious nature is having a field day with this. But here goes: Ducks Win 42-21 2 turnovers 3 sacks 287 passing yards

Week Five Games
But I am concerned UW will never get ranked because they don't look as good....USC is at least currently ranked. But, you have a point, USC has at least 3 more losses on their schedule.

Week Five Games
As much as I HATE to say this, Oregon would be better off with USC winning this game so they (USC) stay ranked. But the complete lack of discipline, fundamentals, and execution by USC is incredible. If both teams could lose, I'd take that.

Week Five Games
The empty seats in the Coliseum is laughable!!! Goes to show the draw the Ducks bring....but dang, USC seems to have only fair weather fans!!

Marsh Duck - Raiola Fits this Oregon Offense
Y'all think Lanning will let Raiola start against Nebraska?? That would be a storyline!

Petros Papadakis Talks USC
He absolutely eviscerated USC. Not just the team...the entire organization! Petros went OFF!! He was also VERY complimentary of Lanning!

The Players Talk About the Hit
I saw Stephen A's comments on his program. He wasn't pulling any punches, that is for sure.

We Lost McClellan Indefinitely
I would really like to see more of Gatlin Bair too. Completely agree with Messiah Hampton, he is a pleasant surprise!

We Lost McClellan Indefinitely
He is out indefinitely with a broken foot. https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2026/09/oregon-wide-receiver-jeremiah-mcclellan-suffers-broken-foot-out-indefinitely.html

Marsh Duck - Final Thoughts Before Oregon vs PSU
I completely agree that PSU is a way for OBD to get some confidence back and they "should" win this game handily. Here is my concern: While this game may get some things right on both sides of the ball, it is against a significantly less opponent then what they will face next week. I hope that this game doesn't provide a false sense of security should OBD do to PSU what most of think they will. I would have loved to have seen this as our first game, then BSU, the OSU....but nobody texted or called from the UofO front office to seek my opinion.

Comparisons Are Brutal and Warranted
What do we do with Dan Lanning? Maybe, just maybe we go up to the 30,000 foot level and take another peak at this. I am still stunned and frustrated with this loss, but I forced myself to try and be objective. I don't recommend that to anyone, it's very challenging when OBD are concerned, but I tried to do it for you so you don't have to. Before we throw away the guy who has taken Oregon to a 48–8 record over four seasons, maybe we should remember that another coach once had fans questioning whether he was getting enough out of his program. That coach was a guy by the name of Nick Saban. Saban's first four seasons at LSU 38-13: • 2000: 8–4 • 2001: 10–3 — SEC Champion • 2002: 8–5 • 2003: 13–1 — SEC Champion & National Champion After that 8–5 season in 2002, there was legitimate frustration around LSU. Expectations had risen. The talent was there. People questioned whether Saban was getting enough out of his players. Sound familiar? Then came 2003. Now look at Lanning: • 2022: 10–3 • 2023: 12–2 • 2024: 13–1 — Big Ten Champion • 2025: 13–2 48–8 vs 38-13 That's an absurd level of consistency. And Lanning isn't doing it with mediocre recruiting. Oregon has become a national recruiting powerhouse, consistently bringing in elite talent while also mastering the transfer portal. Saban's recruiting classes were routinely top 5 or better and he had a slightly worse win/loss ratio, albeit with no transfer portal...because that didn't exist "technically". So, does Lanning need to win a national championship? YES. At this point, that's the expectation at Oregon You can't have this type of talent and resources and get beat by Oklahoma State or taken to the wire by Boise State. But “we haven't won the championship yet” is not the same thing as “Lanning is an underachiever.” If we're going to judge Lanning, let's judge the entire body of work and not just the frustration of the latest loss. Because here's the uncomfortable truth: Nick Saban didn't win his first national championship at LSU until Year 4. Before that, there were losses. There were questions. There was frustration. There were people wondering whether all that talent was translating into enough wins. Then everything clicked. I'm not saying Dan Lanning is Nick Saban. I'm saying maybe we should be very careful before declaring that a coach who is winning at an extraordinary rate, recruiting at an elite level, and has transformed Oregon into a national contender is somehow failing. Now comes the hardest part: FINISHING THE JOB I believe that is where the majority of frustration comes from. Being so close. Supposedly having the pieces to do it. Bringing back NFL talent that so far hasn't looked it. Comparisons are brutal, but warranted. Will the Ducks win the CFP this year. Not the way they look now. But, WHEN they do, we may look back at these conversations very differently and see the growth of not just this program, but of Dan Lanning.

Marsh Duck - Where's the Team?
The defense may still be at one of those retreats here in Central Oregon that we see on the hype videos. Maybe the jet lag from the Japan trip? Maybe the weight of all the NIL money? Shoes too tight? Just trying to think of idea here.

The Mighty Ducks? Prove It.
"Who you become now, that is up to you" - Obi Wan Yesterday’s loss to Oklahoma State should be a wake-up call for the Oregon Ducks and where their culture is right now. There is no question this team has talent. There are stars returning. There are highly regarded players at nearly every position. There is experience, depth, elite recruiting, tremendous coaching (mostly), and enormous expectations. But none of that guarantees a damn thing. Oregon learned that yesterday. You can bring back stars. You can stack a roster with talent. You can be ranked in the Top 10, Top 5, even #1. You can be favored by more than three touchdowns. And none of it matters if the hunger, discipline, physicality, and attention to detail aren't there on every single play. Oklahoma State didn't care that Oregon was the “Mighty Ducks.” They didn't care about Oregon's ranking, recruiting classes, returning starters, or national championship expectations. They lined up and played football. They hit. They ran. They competed. They believed they could win. And they did. That's the lesson. Teams are NOT going to roll over for Oregon. In fact, the opposite is true. Every team that plays the Ducks is going to bring its best shot. Oregon has become one of those programs where beating the Ducks means something. There is a target on that uniform. So the Ducks have to decide what kind of team they want to be. Having stars doesn't create hunger. Having talent doesn't create toughness. Having experience doesn't create discipline. Returning players doesn't automatically create leadership. Those things have to be earned every week. The great teams don't walk onto the field expecting to win because they're talented. They walk onto the field determined to prove they're better. Yesterday, Oklahoma State played with that mentality. Oregon didn't play like the team that expected to be great. They played like a team that expected greatness to come simply because greatness was already on the roster. That's a dangerous distinction. This loss doesn't mean the season is over. It doesn't mean Oregon isn't talented enough to accomplish big things. But it should eliminate any illusion that talent alone is going to carry this team. The work still has to be done. They need to become more disciplined, more sound fundamentally, more focused. Because nobody is going to step aside and let the “Mighty Ducks” have their championship season. They're coming for Oregon. Now it's time for Oregon to show that it's ready to go after them…OR, they fracture and fall apart and the preseason hype was just that.

Projecting our Season with Takeaways from our 1st Game.
My projection for the season? We are 1-0. Past that, I can't say anything because of the craziness of college football. Boise State has our number and plays us tough every time....and sometimes they get the better of us (2009 still lives in my brain). Boise State is a good team. They will probably be looking to be in a playoff spot. We always are gonna look good against a Nichols State or Arkansas State, or even Portland State. We played a potential playoff team. We are 1-0 and have a LOT of improvement to make. Saddle up for the ride folks, it's gonna be a good one!!

Michigan-W Michigan
Probably the worst optic for me on this game was watching Bryce Underwood strut around after the game like he had just won a conference title or playoff game. The guy played awful all game and got a second chance at a Hail Mary AFTER throwing his first attempt out of the endzone. Michigan fans storming the field after that win also?? Com'n!!!!

Chip Kelly and Northwestern
I have to admit, I completely lost track of Chip after the Las Vegas Raiders fiasco. I know that there are some who still dislike how he left Oregon, and when I see highlights of those Duck teams....dang, what a show that was!! I am of the opinion that Chip caught lightening in a bottle with the group of players Oregon had at that time and how they incorporated into the system. He struggled to adapt past that at many of his stops. I bear him no ill will, Oregon certainly secured a center stage spot since Chip. It almost pains me to see him here now....but who knows, maybe Northwestern can become an offensive juggernaut.
