  3. THE SEASON COMES INTO FOCUSPreseason expectations are rising for Oregon’s passing game, while the Ducks may need a different solution to their defensive tackle recruiting needs. The countdown to the 2026 season is beginning to feel real. Big Ten Media Days take place this week, Oregon will hold its own media day next Monday, and fall camp will begin soon after. The annual wave of preseason rankings, watch lists and predictions has already started to roll in. After months of projecting what this Oregon team might become, we are approaching the point when the Ducks can begin answering those questions on the practice field. Recruiting remains important, but roster discussions will soon share the spotlight with position battles, depth charts and expectations for the season ahead. That transition begins with an Oregon offense receiving significant preseason praise. CBS Sports has identified the Ducks as having the best collection of pass catchers in the country. Whether Oregon ultimately lives up to that label remains to be seen, but the talent is difficult to dispute. 5. Latest Oregon Ducks Facility Construction Shows Massive Project Taking ShapeThe "2.Mo" construction shows the first bit of curved timber on the building, which is one of many details nodding back to the Oregon Ducks' Pacific Northwest heritage. Progress Being MadeComparing the photograph from last years' construction beginnings to the video posted on X by Winter, there's been quite a bit of progress made on the 170,000 square foot complex, including what appears to be the majority of the internal skeleton complete, as well as a portion of the curved timber roof installed. Speaking of keeping the local aspect top of mind, Leo Harris Parkways has already been rerouted. Additional parking was added in front of Autzen Stadium where a gravel parking area used to be, with access to the surrounding woods and adjacent Willamette River. According to the Southwest Oregon Architect Blogspot, "Additionally, the broader project includes improved ADA access in Alton Baker Park, expanded parking, and enhancements to fish habitat and water quality in the nearby waterway. These changes reflect a civic dimension to the development, even if the primary driver is athletic performance." 17. College football's fourth quarter kings: These teams are the best at raising the bar in crunch timeA deep statistical dive reveals which programs have dominated when it matters most over the past five yearsThe fourth quarter has a way of revealing who a college football team really is. When the margin for error disappears and every possession carries a little more weight, the best programs find ways to win -- whether it's protecting a lead, erasing a deficit or making the plays necessary in a close game. So which teams have been college football's fourth-quarter kings over the past five seasons? To find out, we examined every Power Four team (plus Notre Dame) across those three fourth-quarter scenarios. Georgia's company at the top is exactly who you'd expect: Notre Dame (44-0), Alabama (42-0), Oregon (49-1), Ohio State (48-1) and Michigan (46-1). Those six programs also rank among the winningest teams in the FBS since 2021. Tennessee and a handful of others aren't far behind. The upper-right corner of the chart is filled with many of college football's most consistent winners over the past five seasons. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-footballs-fourth-quarter-kings/

  22. Oregon edge coach outlines how Oregon's defense will create more havoc in 2026Earlier this week, ESPN's Bill Connelly identified a trio of areas in which the Ducks must excel in 2026 should a national-title-winning season be in the cards. Among them was creating more havoc. As Connelly outlined, the Ducks reached the College Football Playoff semifinals in 2025 in spite of having "the nation's 46th sack rate and 98th run stuff rate". Those figures are more in line with a mediocre defensive front than one capable of reaching the promised land. Newly-promoted edge coach Kamran Araghi won't dispute what Connelly and others have said about the defense this season. A season ago wasn't to standard, as he said on an upcoming episode of the Autzen Audibles podcast, and changing that has been an offseason focal point. https://247sports.com/college/oregon/article/oregon-edge-coach-outlines-how-oregons-defense-will-create-more-havoc-in-2026-288496556/

  24. SOME LOSSES HURT MOREBrayden Parks was the latest disappointment, but Oregon’s more consequential defensive-line misses may have happened much closer to home.Parks was always going to be difficult to pull away from home. Notre Dame offered him a nationally recognized program, a strong defensive identity, and the ability to remain close to his family and community. Oregon was asking him to leave the Midwest and travel nearly 1,800 miles to Eugene. That does not make the loss meaningless. Oregon recruits nationally because it has championship expectations, and national recruiting requires winning difficult battles outside the program’s traditional footprint. It does, however, provide important context. The Ducks were trying to take an elite defensive lineman away from a major program located almost in his backyard. That would have been an outstanding recruiting win. Failing to complete it was disappointing, but it was not necessarily the most damaging development of Oregon’s defensive-line cycle. The more important losses may have come earlier. 25. The family pressured him to go to Notre Dame. Close to where he lives. Easy for family to go to home games. Can understand that. Oregon and Notre Dame were both chasing elite 4-star DL Brayden Parks. He chose the Irish and the Ducks still have one major target on the board for 2027. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin discusses how productive the Oregon offense should be this year. Dante Moore and the Ducks' receiving corps should be fully unleashed.
