In this video, we break down why the Big Ten's expansion strategy may be very different from what most college football fans believe. While football remains the driving force behind every major conference, the Big Ten may be looking for schools that offer much more than elite football programs. We examine why North Carolina, Miami, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Virginia, and Notre Dame all make compelling Big Ten candidates—and why the conference's presidents may evaluate expansion through a different lens than the SEC. Could Miami's academics make the Hurricanes a better Big Ten fit than many realize? Is Florida State's improving academic profile changing the conversation? Why is North Carolina viewed by so many as the perfect expansion target? And what role do research, AAU membership, media value, recruiting territory, and institutional prestige play in the future of conference realignment?

The SEC and Big Ten appear poised to secure major changes to the Protect College Sports Act after using their political influence to push back against provisions that could have protected the Big 12, ACC and the rest of college sports. John Kurtz breaks down the latest reporting on negotiations in Washington, where lawmakers are reportedly in “deal mode” with the SEC and Big Ten. The proposed revisions could weaken restrictions on future conference expansion, make media-rights pooling more difficult and change how outside NIL deals are treated under the revenue-sharing cap. What does this mean for the future of college football realignment? Could the SEC and Big Ten eventually form or lead a new super league? And are the Big 12 and ACC losing their best opportunity to prevent the richest conferences from gaining even more control? The discussion also covers the proposed one-time transfer rule, five-year eligibility limits, NIL enforcement and why lawmakers may need to act before the August recess.

WHEN THE SCRIPT RUNS OUTHow the World Cup showed what Oregon can become when the plan stops working. As I watched the World Cup semifinals earlier this week, I could not help but think about Oregon football. Spain and Argentina reached Sunday’s final through very different forms of excellence. Spain controlled France with structure, discipline and a clear understanding of how every player fit into the larger plan. Argentina had to respond after falling behind England, gradually changing the game before finding its best football late. They followed different paths, but both demonstrated something Oregon must learn if it is going to take the final step from national contender to national champion. A system can put a team in position to win a championship. The ability to function when that system is disrupted often determines whether it actually finishes the job. Oregon Ducks Rising Early for Speedy Receiver RecruitThe Oregon Ducks don't ignore landing speed on the recruiting trail, and now are trending up for this fast-rising wide receiver recruit. Oregon is aiming to reel in one more speedster from the state of Texas: four-star wideout and return ace Dillon Mitchell out of C.E. King High School in Houston. Mitchell is turning heads already with his uncanny track and field speed at a young age. He's reportedly ran a sub 10-second 100-meter dash and blazed the 200 in 20.22 seconds during the spring, according to Rivals recruiting insider Sam Spiegelman. That track speed translates with ease onto the football field. Mitchell compiled 1,779 total yards of offense and scored 14 times for a Panthers team that played for a Texas state football championship this past season. Oregon entered his picture by offering Mitchell back on Jan. 28. Dylan Raiola's Five-Star Ranking Questioned Before Oregon CareerThe Oregon Ducks boast several five-stars from the high school recruit class of 2024, with a new breakdown claiming all three have yet to live up to their college career expectations. In a recent article from CBS Sports' Cooper Petagna, he posits that Raiola's five-star rating from 2024 may be in question with Raiola's move to the Ducks to become a mentee under starter Dante Moore may be his route to success (with the emphasis that it's the same avenue Moore took with now Cleveland Brown Dillon Gabriel). "A route less traveled, but one exemplified by Moore himself, Raiola will look to capitalize on a year to learn a new scheme while surrounding himself with a quarterback-friendly roster in what is presumed to be his offense in 2027," Petagna wrote. Dan Lanning surging for 4-star QB whose Oregon 'dream school' admission is tellingOftentimes, the first domino to fall in any recruiting cycle starts with the quarterbacks as they typically arrive at a decision before anyone else. Schools and coaches build their recruiting classes, around the star quarterback as they most often commit heading into their Junior season or after the year. The Oregon Ducks have built a nice pipeline at quarterback with Will Mencl committed in this cycle, Dylan Raiola waiting behind Dante Moore along with Brock Thomas and Akili Smith Jr waiting in the wings. It appears that the Ducks next addition to a bright future at the quarterback position could be on the horizon. Oregon lands prediction for elite quarterback recruit Josiah BoydEarlier this Summer, the Oregon coaching staff offered elite 2028 quarterback recruit Josiah Boyd a scholarship while he was on campus. How Oregon football's average age in 2026 sets program up for successFor the first time since Marcus Mariota's last season as quarterback, the Oregon Ducks football team has a realistic chance of winning their first national championship in the program's history. Mariota won the Heisman Trophy that season and it wouldn't be to anyone's shock if current quarterback Dante Moore won the 2026 Heisman as well. But unlike Mariota, Moore is surrounded by some of the best talent around at nearly every spot on the field. Mariota's teammates were very good as well, but not like this. Another factor in the Ducks' favor for this upcoming season is the players' actual age. According to Rotowire.com, Oregon's roster has an average age of 20.18 years old. That would be about a junior, someone with plenty of experience on their side, but still has a lot to learn going forward. https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/football/2026/07/17/oregon-football-average-team-age-2026/90948881007/

MBB: Coverage of Men's Basketball Program (3)
Ducks come in 12th in Jon Rothstein's Big Ten Preseason Power Rankings All signs point towards a bounce back season for the Oregon Ducks men's basketball program in 2026-27, as a revamped roster built through the transfer portal will look to stay above water in the Big Ten and compete for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Earlier this week, CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein tabbed the Ducks as his sleeper candidate in the Big Ten. Now, he's released his full power rankings entering the 2026-27 season, with Oregon slotting in at No. 12. They come in just behind the Iowa Hawkeyes and ahead of the Maryland Terrapins. Last season, eight teams in the conference made the 2026 NCAA Tournament. But with the expanded 76-team field that is expected to favor power conference teams, the Ducks very well could be on the fringe of making the tournament. https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/mens-basketball/2026/07/16/oregon-mens-basketball-jon-rothstein-12th-preseason-big-ten-power-rankings/90936537007/
