At least in Dixie. And the SEC wants to govern itself because 'other people' cheat, right?https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/article/if-brendan-sorsby-is-able-to-play-for-texas-tech-college-sports-may-as-well-burn-its-rulebook-164939889.html
June 3Jun 3 No. Hard to believe this is real. Seems so obvious. Pete Rose never bet on his own team, and he was a genuine star player. How long will college sports still be "college".
June 4Jun 4 No. How about we start holding people accountable for their actions? Sorsby isn't a victim, he is an addict that broke the rules a hundred times over. He sued his old school when they told him he had to pay out the one million dollar NIL to take a five million dollar NIL at another program. I'm all for player rights, but with those rights come responsibilities.

June 12Jun 12 No. Who they going to play after they sue everyone? All this for a guy that was barely a top 20 QB last year and gambles on his own team(s). This all screams of Beavis logic the last couple years. Edited June 12Jun 12 by JabbaNoBargain
June 12Jun 12 No. Sorsby is a model collegiate football player in the modern era.He is the model of contemptible, and in the running for most derided (hated). Texas Tech has earned the same dubious honors as an institution. The AD, Kirby Hocutt, is striving for his own seat at the table of the despised.Stay tuned as there will be more chapters in the TTU-Sorsby saga. 🤮

June 14Jun 14 No. What if every school refused to play Texas Tech? No conspiracies. No lawsuits. Just refuse to play. I’m shocked that their own fan base isn’t lighting up the phones and email servers with deep concerns, especially with a player who has never played a down and has no loyalty to Texas Tech. I would like to believe that if this was an Oregon player, our fan base would not tolerate this. This should be an easy decision for TT. Take the high road and be the hero. However, they likely already knew all of this before they signed him.

The conference is asking for declaratory and injunctive relief to prevent what it describes as outside interference with its governance structure. At issue is whether the Big 12 can impose internal discipline on a member institution while state officials threaten legal action over that same conduct.https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/big-12-legal-action-brendan-sorsby-texas-tech-texas-attorney-general/
June 15Jun 15 No. Wow, what a great conference/business partner Texas Tech is. Shredding relationships over some decent transfer portal QB that has zero starts for TTech. Crazy cost benefit analysis going on in Lubbock imo.17 minutes ago, NJDuck said:Big 12 pursues legal action against Texas Tech, Texas Attorney General in Brendan Sorsby caseThe Big 12 seeks clarity in its authority to enforce bylaws after a previous judge granted the Texas Tech QB an injunction to play in 2026 despite gambling on his team's gamesThe Big 12 has filed a legal complaint against Texas Tech seeking to confirm its authority to enforce conference bylaws if the school plays quarterback Brendan Sorsby this season, setting up an unusual legal fight between a league and one of its members. The 47-page complaint, obtained by CBS Sports and filed Monday in the Northern District of Texas, names Texas Tech, the Texas Tech University System, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, and several school officials as defendants. That case needs to be appealed and overturned otherwise it becomes historical precedent to allow others to try and snake their way through without any punishment.

They served on the CFB PO committee together. By 2033, CFB could have a different structure from today's Power 4 conferences. I think further consolidation of the top teams will happen in football, and also perhaps in men's basketball. Lubbock is a tiny market. The SEC does not need Texas Tech, and neither the SEC nor the B1G wants Texas Tech. Tech could be a member of the G8.Whether for the 'right reason or not', Sorsby's next down of football will be played in the NFL. Considering the pace of change in college athletics, by 2033, the Sorsby Situation will likely be a forgotten blip on the radar. Hats off to the B12 for calling Cody Campbell's, Texas Tech's, and the Texas AG's bluff.Campbell and his plan to rein in the Power 2 with the help of Congress have lost credibility. Help with the future of college athletics should not be accompanied by penalizing the most successful conferences.
June 23Jun 23 No. According to CBS Sports, the NFL is not going to hold a Supplemental Draft for Brendan Sorsby. I attempted to post the article and managed to lose it. Sorsby now appears to be SOL. I doubt even Texas Tech would take him back now. He will be elgible for the 2027 NFL Draft.
June 23Jun 23 No. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-declines-brendan-sorsby-supplemental-draft-application/Not sure he can go elsewhere? The UFL league begins play March 2027. The CFL is May 2027. Neither give him much opportunity in comparison to the regular 2027 NFL draft which is in April.
