Play it. Play the youngsters and see who's worth building around and who's not. At some point this year I want to know if I'm wasting my time rooting for guys like Akili Smith or not.

Playing any bowl game gets the team at least 2 or 3 weeks extra practice. Early enrollees can practice with the team.

WOW! Oregon is favored by 6.5 points vs. Nebraska.

Win this game, and heading into Week 8, except for the game in Columbus, the Ducks will be favored in every remaining game.

In Week 6, the Oregon D we expected to see vs. Boise State and every game thereafter showed up. If the D is ready to carry the team with Dante down and out, every game is winnable. Including the Ohio State game.

Ohio State has not run the ball well and is dinged on the O-line. The defense, understandably with the studs lost to the NFL, is not as good as last season's group.

In their first five games, no other team has played four top-25 opponents, including teams in the vaunted SEC. Oregon is 2-2, and arguably, a B1G refs mistake and a ridiculous coaching decision stopped the Ducks from taking the UCLA game into OT and winning.

Coming out of an off week, Oregon lost. What's new. Oregon lost a home game to Indiana last season, coming off an off week.

A UCLA team that had blown out its first four opponents had a close-call win in Eugene. Meanwhile, Boise State, OK State, and USC have not lost since losing to Oregon.

It's a good thing many of today's Oregon fans were not around when Oregon would have begged for a bowl game. And, I might add, were saddled with being Boston Bruins, Patriots, and Red Sox fans.

At least until 10/18, keep on quacking and keep the faith.

It is a shared payday for the conference. Of course you play.

A bowl seems like a stretch after Saturday’s disaster. Still, extra practice, money for the conference, and perhaps a warm weather destination are appealing. As already mentioned, I recall the time when any bowl was an achievement ( i.e. .., the Poulan Weed Eater Bowl.)

I'm pretty sure we are at least a 6-win team and that is what bowl eligibility passes for these days.

And let all the seniors and transfers sit out. As pointed out above, more practice for the others.

No we don't turn down a bad bowl game... part of it is because we need to be team players in the B1G. There is revenue coming in from bowl games that gets distributed to all programs. We do get a full share of this revenue (we only get a partial share right now of the media revenue which is different).

So even if we are all pissed off and bummed out about our season the Ducks should take whatever bowl we may get into and participate. Granted our roster might be a complete and total mess at that point. And we do this because we are team players in the conference and we do our part.
