22 hours ago22 hr No. Eisenhower had Patton and McArthurWe should carve out 2.5 million for each and go make a run at these hires! We already are spending a ton of money on a roster and the HC, spend the rest and get the Natty winners on staff!Mike Locksley was Bamas OC before he got the Maryland HC job. Won the 2017 title as CO-OC under Saban, in 2018 he was the OC and won the Broyles award. He has as years of experience, about a decade calling plays. Just got fired as Maryland HC.Dave Aranda won a Natty at LSU with Ed Orgeron and has years of experience, about a decade as well as a DC. Broyles award nominee in multiple years/schools and was the games highest pad OC when he was at LSU. Just got fired as Baylor HC.Problem solved, we aren't showing up in the playoffs looking not ready to play and getting out coached. Let's roll out the Lanning school of former HC's rehabbing their careers like Saban did at Bama. Edited 22 hours ago22 hr by dazednconfused
22 hours ago22 hr No. Yahoo Sports "Locksley doesn't anticipate another college head-coaching opportunity. Rather, he's reportedly open to working in the NFL or serving as a coordinator for a championship-caliber college program." Get on the phone and convince him the Duck can win it all.
8 hours ago8 hr No. I am open to both of these hires in truth. And probably get them at a discount because of their current buyouts. Usually contracts are structured in such a way that even when they take a new job they are still owed some of the money (though less than if they don't take another job). So if that's the case then all the better.
7 hours ago7 hr Moderator No. DC - I'd go with Pete Kwiatkowski, now a D-line coach with the AZ Cardinals, who had a top-20 D at Texas and was fired by Sark because someone had to go from a team that didn't make the POs.Locksley? Zero experience recruiting the West Coast and an offense and team at Maryland that disappeared after September.Aranda? A California guy but not a great recruiter by any means.
6 hours ago6 hr No. Recruiting may be low on the wish list, if the candidate can put out a burning Tesla...Chip doesn't exactly have Recruiting Chops high on his resume, either.Too bad none of us can read CDL's mind to see what his priority rankings are, eh?
6 hours ago6 hr No. How do you bring in a new person who would have no understanding of either the offense or personnel? There is no time to learn a new playbook. And if Dante isn't coming back, why take a risk on an only temporary position. DL needs time to ensure the next OC is the right one.And please stop with the bring back Chip hype! Yes, we have fond memories of those years, but he left us! I wish him well (maybe not this week) but there are better choices. DL has to go get one
4 hours ago4 hr No. Why would anyone think Hampton is being replaced? The defense has been pretty solid.
4 hours ago4 hr No. Wishful thinking on the part of the "burn it down" sect?I think the D has been demonstrating an ability to grow.It may benefit from minor tweaks, but a completely reboot/overhaul seems unreasonable at this point. It's obvious that a moderately serviceable offensive could result in a major boost.

If a guitarist can join a band in the middle of a world tour an OC can join mid season.

I'd fire him in a heartbeat at the end of the year if I can get Aranda for 2027. I'd sign Aranda today if he wanted to take a deal. We owe Hampton nothing, he got paid to do a job and if we can replace him with a NATTY winning DC then that is just Biz.Aranda has been the highest paid DC and possibly the highest paid Coordinator in the game at one point. He has been a Broyles award finalist with three different teams, he'd be the most decorated DC we ever had at Oregon! This is a business and a game that you have to be all in to get the best to be the best. Tampa drafted Jamies Winston #1 and replaced him with Tom Brady. They didn't sit around thinking maybe Jamies will get it and it will all click, and he will hit his peak, let's be LOYAL. No, they cut him loose and they went and got the best in the game and won a Super Bowl. This is a BUSSINES and Lanning needs to strop hiring his buddies or elite recruiter's and hire elite X and O coaches.I sure the hell want Aranda as my DC at my side in the playoffs, same goes with Locksley as the OC. Go load up for 2027 and come back strong.EDIT: Lets also not overlook the coaches Aranda can pull compared to Hampton. No one says, "Who are you?" when Ardanda calls to recruit you to coach on his defensive staff. Hampton I'd call a third-tier DC and second-tier at best; and it's hard to call him second-tier with his lack of experience. Edited 44 minutes ago44 min by dazednconfused

Zero experience recruiting the West Coast and an offense and team at Maryland that disappeared after September.Aranda? A California guy but not a great recruiter by any means. When it comes to recruiting it's more important to know how they recruit than who they recruited. Resources change who you can recruit. NIL opens the door to recruitment it's effectively bid to recruit. If you can't make a competitive bid you can't recruit the player. Baylor and Maryland (Aranda and Locksly) neither have had Oregon level resources. Also they'll figure out the west coast if they need to because I'm sure Oregon has people on staff who will make the proper introductions. Also Oregon recruits nationally so knowing the west coast is important but not the end all be all that it used to be. The NIL bid will get them in the door. What they do with an open door is far more important. And that goes for any coach the Ducks look at.
