  1. Past hour

  2. I think he's shown more ability to adapt to an offensive game plan than Tosh. Now if he can just figure out how to start the game. I think he's doing a great job for a first year guy and will get better the more his guys believe in him. For continuity sakes alone I'd say bring him back for next year.
  3. 'Tis said that one learns more from loss than from any win.
  4. Speaking of back-to-back, the wins against Northwestern and Ohio State were both ranked teams. The last time Oregon beat ranked teams back-to-back in the regular season was 2018: Cal and Washington. It's happened post-regular-season since.
  5. I loved the game! But I'm really tired of the terrible refereeing in the B1G. It's easily as bad as the PAC12. Hmm, I wonder if they'd hire a slightly decrepit 81-year-old who could not do any worse??
  6. Keep up the apparently improvement and I would say ok
  7. Today

  8. Hmm, Looks just like what he faced after that Seattle game. People (everywhere) calling out his decision making, and his ability to dial it in. What happened? He leaned into who he is and stayed the course. I wonder how much more he got involved in both the offense and defense. Looks like he spent more time with the coordinators/play callers and drilled down to the essence of what he wanted. I think the players love him because he has a player's mentality. And all that "coach speak/word salad" people accused him of were words those people should have been paying more attention to. I've watched how he handled the duress he was under. He had far more poise than any of us, and he demonstrated character a whole lot of people need to pay attention to. Because they could sure use it in their personal lives. As I've watched fan bases around the country melt down, I have marveled at how easily way too many people don't grasp the concept that adversity and challenges are tests. They don't identify who you are, they define what you're made of. We are supposed to face obstacles. Too many of us run away from them. Ryan Day and Dan Lanning have gone through the same mess. Julian Sayin and Dante Moore have as well. And the biggest challenge all four have had is dealing with people that don't give them credit for hanging in there when their respective Offensive Lines have highly underperformed. That has been their challenge these past two seasons. FEBU is real. We all work better as a team. I believe fan bases bail when the rubber meets the road instead of letting things play out the way they eventually do. Penn State is facing the consequences of bailing on their man. And will for seasons to come. Their win this week notwithstanding. Winning is far more than Ws and Ls. One can definitely see how Lanning never lets his team give up. Like Day, he's won more than 80 percent of his games. And people fall apart over the 15 to 20 percent of losses. Can't say we need to be more positive, but I can say there is a huge lesson in all this. AND YES-I SCREAMED AT THE TV IN THE FIRST QUARTER TOO. But I never felt it meant Day or Lanning should face the music their fan bases have dealt them.
  9. Unfortunately not. But back-to-back ranked wins is a great springboard and running the table the rest of the way provides an opening to that conference championship game if a few other chips fell in the right way.
  10. Now officially 9 games into the season I think we have enough to start grading the performance of Chris Hampton. His defense started out rough and discombobulated the first few games but the last several weeks has seen significant improvement to the point where it's been carrying the team on more than a few occasions. Most notably, I've been noticing some good and timely in-game adjustments after being pounded by offenses like Northwestern to start the game. Some of this could be attributed to DL's participation in the evolution of the schemes and play calling. However it seems that CH has taken that and kept it rolling. I think he's made the case to be retained as DC for next season. What say you?
  11. There will be a new No. 1. Notre Dame 31 - Miami 24 Georgia turned Ole Miss into Dawg meat. Georgia 42 - Ole Miss 7. Georgia will be number 1. Will Ole Miss stay in the top 10? 🤪 Oklahoma 23, Florida 7. Will 4-loss Florida still be ranked? As Brett Bielma noted on Friday night after defeating Nebraska: "We're 6-3. If we were in the SEC, we'd be ranked in the PO committee's Top 15." Tennessee 34, Kentucky 6. Will undefeated 9-0 UCLA move ahead of two-loss Kentucky? UCLA 34, Minnesota 20. Michigan State defeated Michigan in Ann Arbor🤬 . Without QB Aiden Chiles, Northwestern lost to No. 19 Iowa; first defeat in the new stadium. Penn State defeated UW in Seattle. 😁😎😍 No Top-25 win opportunities for Oregon in the next three games.
  12. Assuming the offense continues to stabilize and improve over the rest of the season, I think his name should be in the hat for consideration. But make no mistake, if DL doesn't perform a proper search for an OC there won't be a ton of patience by fans. If JJ's results are that compelling by the time interviews start then he could get the gig but only after it's compared with a handful of other top end candidates.
  13. Regardless of Jay's future with the Ducks he needs to be getting PAID for these winning games. Like $100k+ each game.
  14. OK State defeated K-State 66-28 today to move to 6-3. No. 15 Texas Tech is in a shootout with W. VA. The Red Raiders visit Stillwater on Saturday, 11/14 OK State had a good loss at Houston, not a good loss at Iowa State, and the unfathomable loss to Tulane. But with a win tonight and on the 14th against TX Tech, the Cowboys would be 5-2 in the B12 with a chance of playing in the B12 championship game. Boise State won today and could be in the PO committee's Top 25 this Tuesday. OT but delightful. As head coach, Lane Kiffen is still 0 for Alabama. 😍 Danno? Who calls a fake punt with a D end throwing to another D end, and a TD play with players lined up sideline to sideline and the TE taking the snap from the center? When these plays work, it's all good, at least until next Saturday vs. Michigan. The game kicks off at 12:30 Pacific on FS1. With less than two minutes remaining, Michigan is behind visiting Michigan State. Sparty 15 - Wolverines 6. ☹️
  15. Many of them. Some of them for sure. They might even give Miami a game. And by minor leagues, I mean any conf not named Big10 or SEC. It is good they are expanding the playoffs next year. You can't compare apples and oranges.
  16. The ground can't make you fumble, but it can make you drop a pass. The catch has to survive your contact with the ground. Stupid stupid stupid. He didn't hold the ball long enough and put it away and make a football move before it was knocked out of his hands. Stupid stupid stupid. Ask a ten year old if the receiver caught the ball he'll say yes, he caught the ball, then.... This insanity came about because refs can't get it right so they backed off to irrefutable evidence of a catch. If you go 2 frames of replay slow motion without the ball moving relative to the points of control (fingers, hands, pads, body, etc) of the receiver he has control and the catch is complete. This isn't that hard. The current rules are insulting to any athlete that's ever caught a ball. A catch is an event not a freaking process.
  17. Miami down 31-24 with 57 seconds left. They just received the punt and have no timeouts left.
  18. So what amazes me is all the pundents blaming the loss ion osu2 failures rather than recognizing superior Duck performance! OBD won the middle 8 by a score of 21-0! At one point in the 3rd quarter, we out gained them over one hundred and some odd yards to -14 yards. I’m sorry, that was not Buckeye breakdown, that was Duck Domination! They didn’t give us anything, we took it!
  19. JJ should be an option during the search. That is it. These games he is calling are a working interview. But I would not automatically disqualify him. He is certainly helping his career and for that I am happy for him. Wild thought: if Ducks make playoffs and Ducks advance in playoffs... Does Dante come back to play a championship game? By then, he might be OK to do it.
  20. Wish I could have watch the game had to work. Looks like it was a great game anyways great to have it to the Bucknuts.
  21. Almost great coaching to go up 38 - 24. But after that, Oregon would run the ball into the box with no intention of even gaining a yard. They were 2nd and 10 all game long. Ohio St could not cover Oregon receivers. The runs up the middle were automatic failures. It is good that Ohio St imploded and played so poorly. Lets hope the new OC does not continue to do that. Lets hope something changes by next week. The other "negative" I have is how bad Perich was the first quarter. Why does he still play? A third neg would be trying the 53 yd field goal - out of his range and lower temps. Should have tried to get a first down. The positives I have are everything else the team did. Very good D line play. Linebackers were very "active" like they should be. OSU QB was "contained" mostly. No big runs. Those "hits" by Ify. OOOOOOOHHHH!!! I think the long bomb to Jeramiah was vs subs at end of game, so can't say much about that. But he was contained most of game. OSU receivers did not beat the Ducks like they usually beat all other teams. Ducks did not let them run the ball. On offense, I am not faulting the O line for lack of running attack. Those running plays did not have a chance. Need to go back to drawing board. 5 O linemen, no fullback, smaller/athletic TE, tiny WRs, 1 RB who does not run people over or make them miss. And no zone read threat from QB. Hill can break an occasional arm tackle, but he can't run through a wall. Raiola gutted out a good game for him. He had some bad moments, but he did not let the game get away from him. Coaching was not perfect, but some great calls were made that impacted the game. Passing plays were called that OSU was totally out of position for. The Buckeye DC got burned. After the 1st qtr, Ducks got stops when they needed them and shut out OSU for a very long time. That took the crowd out of it and made them go home early. OSU was beatable. No more Caleb Downs. No more Sonny Styles. No more fierce pass rush. They only have one great receiver. Their backup QB was below average. Their O line could not run block any better than Oregon's. I'd like to see Trad Ball play more and the Ducks work on plays to get him the ball in space. Hill running it up the middle was like CJ Verdell running it up the middle - if a hole is present, that is only when it works. They got Brandon the ball in space once or twice and OSU had no answer for it. Overall, I would give the game ball to the new OC. What a change from Mehringer.
  22. Add this to JJ's resume, probably at the top. 1999 - The last time Ohio State surrendered 38 consecutive points was against Wisconsin before the turn of the century. 169 - Before today's game, the number of games Ohio State had played without losing back-to-back games. That's 5,457 days. Hey, Brutus, Duck here to remind you that Oregon's 2nd-string QB (at least for today 😎) is better than your 2nd-stringer! Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah!🙃Quack, Quack! With the always reasonable Buckeyes fans on the scene, Ryan Day might be available. 🤪
  23. "Did Oregon break Northwestern?" Northwestern is without Chiles this game, their starting QB. Northwestern's strength is the run game, Iowa's strength is run defense. By the way, due to Chiles replacement tonight, he is the 28th QB who has started a game in the Big Ten this season. It's not just Dante, Sayin who have missed games.
  24. I mention before that Lanning 2.0 will be a very dangerous animal. He is figuring out in real time when to trust his instincts to go for it and when to play it safe. It seems to have been working the last 1 1/2 games.
  25. Miami making a comeback. Now it’s 24-17
  26. Fuskies lost, too! Michigan down 9 vs Mich St
