  2. 1) There are big rumors floating on other sites and social media. One is a quote from Dak Moore that, "we're adding some new plays this week," and implied that the offense is going to be different? With only a few days to practice them--I hope it works out. 2) There are rumors about the offensive line being shaken up further. It was surprising enough to have Gernorris Wilson in at right tackle, but Fox Crader came in at left tackle late in the game? More shake-ups coming? 3) Since there appear to be no lingering effects from the concussion--we have a chance of seeing Dante Moore? It is common to have these kind of rumors floating after such an offensive disaster, and usually....most turn out to be just that--rumors. But sometimes there is validity to what has been whispered.... I have no idea if any of it is true, but as long as we are discussing all the elements of the game--I thought I'd add more stuff to consider. BTW....when you post....PROOFREAD IT! Is there a big space at the bottom of your post? Fix it. Do you have continuous text without vertical spacing for easier reading? Fix it. 3. No we don't turn down a bad bowl game... part of it is because we need to be team players in the B1G. There is revenue coming in from bowl games that gets distributed to all programs. We do get a full share of this revenue (we only get a partial share right now of the media revenue which is different). So even if we are all pissed off and bummed out about our season the Ducks should take whatever bowl we may get into and participate. Granted our roster might be a complete and total mess at that point. And we do this because we are team players in the conference and we do our part.
  4. I'm pretty sure we are at least a 6-win team and that is what bowl eligibility passes for these days. And let all the seniors and transfers sit out. As pointed out above, more practice for the others.
  5. Great examples to give us hope, outstanding post--thank you!

  9. As an assistant at Georgia and now as HC at Oregon Lanning has never known football failure. We all fail at one time or another. Dan now has to deal with professional adversity. Lord knows at home he has dealt with more than most. Let’s see how he deals with things. Another quick note. Chesney takes the easy three in the first quarter. Dan gambles and goes for two and fails, make us have to go for two again. Instead of 14 it’s 12. What was UCLA’s margin of victory?
  10. When he stops going for two when it's unnecessary is when he's changed.
  11. Matt Rhule not overlooking the Autzen effect. Nebraska Coach Matt Rhule Said The Quiet Part Out Loud About Autzen Stadium
  12. In some ways I hope it's true. Individual players will come and go but in the long run I think Lanning needs to feel the consequences of inaction when foundational issues come up. The O Line is horribly under performing. The QBs all have issues with staying calm and problem solving on the fly. The offensive plays are far too simplistic and have too many tells and predictabilities. This is all coaching which means it won't change until the coaches change. The skill position guys are all dependent on those three links in the chain being sturdy for their contributions to have any positive effect. So until those glaring problems get addressed all skill position players will have decisions to make. Decisions also will be made by the elite players being coached at the problematic spots of o line and QB as well.

  17. Just look at Bend. There was slightly less than 18,000 people living there in 1980. Now it's a roundabout monstrosity...
  18. I was surprised when he turned it around like that. ...And lost the nickname Dudwig!
  19. I doubt DR has a repeat performance. He is a significantly better QB than what we saw on Saturday. I just cant imagine he is that bad. Defense looks incredible. They were on the field a ton and just kept making plays. If the D keeps that up and DR is somewhere between USC and UCLA, oregon Runs the table. Including a win in the Shoe
  20. There needs to be coaching changes at OL, QB, and OC. Will it happen mid-season? I doubt it. So it'll be interesting to see what DL is going to do over the course of this week. My personal thoughts: OL - It's becoming obvious Alique Terry isn't as good with developing high school talent as anyone thought. Someone online pointed out that when Will Stein left, he took Cutter Leftwich and Dallas Warmack (both OL coaching assistants) with him. This may be a big reason why coaching quality dropped in this group. QB - It's pretty obvious Koa Ka'ai is learning on the job. That's not what you want when you're trying to develop 5-star QB talent. We need an experienced coach at this position ASAP. This one is probably the easiest of the 3 to just bring someone in right now. OC - It's painfully obvious to everyone that Drew Meringer isn't it. Not by a long shot. Problem is who can he be replaced with? No one in house has any OC experience. I suppose you could let a newbie like Ross Douglas or Ra'shaad Samples take a shot and hope they surprise you. But I'm done with hoping for the best. DL needs to bring in someone like Jonathan Smith or Mark Helfrich to serve as an "analyst" to help out right away and demote Meringer back down to TE coach at the end of the season. Additional bonus: Smith or Helfrich also have plenty of proven QB development experience so that kills two birds with one stone.
  21. Brock over Dylan. He just knows how to operate the offense better overall right now. That being said, it won't matter which QB starts if the issues on the OL aren't resolved first.
  22. I'm all in on Brock if no Dante. He has a quick release and knows the offense. He can get it done.
  23. From what I hear Oregon is the Canada of California.
  24. I don't know. I've mentioned that Raiola is a statue in the pocket and has always looked bad against teams that pressure him. If Oregon hopes to win with Raiola, they are going to have to beef up the pass pro on this year's OL.
  25. I am sure this has been mentioned on this forum, but Will Stein has done a ridiculously good job in his first season as mentor of the Kentucky Wildcats. My hat is off to him.
  26. Many of us have been befuddled by how well Dylan played against USC and how miserably he played against UCLA. So, I wondered if there are recent historical situations where there were similarities to his past two games where things turned out fine for the rest of the year. While I'm not saying it will happen, it has. Many elite college quarterbacks have experienced a severe "rollercoaster" sequence of games—starting hot, suffering a catastrophic performance, and then playing exceptionally well for the remainder of the season. This specific trajectory often happens to young quarterbacks or teams facing an elite defensive adjustment early in the year. Two of the most famous and definitive examples of this exact pattern include: 1. Jameis Winston (2013, Florida State) During his Heisman-winning freshman season, Jameis Winston followed this exact script to perfection: The Great Game: He started the season on fire, including a legendary debut against Pittsburgh where he went 25-of-27. The Very Poor Game: Against a disciplined Boston College team a few weeks later, Winston looked entirely human, struggling with his accuracy, throwing his first career interceptions, and posting his lowest passer rating of the season. The Rest of the Year: Winston bounced back immediately. He dominated the rest of the schedule—including a historic blowout of No. 3 Clemson—leading Florida State to an undefeated season and a National Championship while winning the Heisman Trophy. 2. Stetson Bennett (2021, Georgia) Stetson Bennett’s championship journey featured a massive early-season stumble that he rode all the way to glory: The Great Game: Filling in early in the season, Bennett had historic games, including a 5-touchdown performance against UAB. The Very Poor Game: In the SEC Championship game against Alabama, Bennett threw two costly interceptions (including a pick-six) and struggled mightily under pressure as Georgia was blown out. The Rest of the Year: Instead of letting the poor performance ruin his season, Bennett reset for the College Football Playoff. He played nearly flawless football in the Orange Bowl against Michigan and followed it up with a spectacular, clutch fourth-quarter performance in the National Championship rematch against Alabama to win the title. Common Reasons for This Pattern When a quarterback experiences this specific rhythm, it is usually due to: The "Blueprint" Effect: After a quarterback plays great, an opposing defensive coordinator finds a specific weakness and builds a blueprint to exploit it, causing a terrible game. Adjustments and Coaching: Elite coaching staffs use that poor game as a teaching tool to correct the quarterback's mechanics or decision-making, setting them up for a sustained run of success. But do we have the right coach to correct the flaws Dylan showed against UCLA, and does he have the tools to have them corrected? That written, I still think there are flaws in Riolá's game - floating passes and being immobile, along with our poor blocking for him. And I should note, I think Riola's recent performance was likely not as good as the poor performances by Winston or Bennett. So what should be done Saturday? Perhaps start Riola, and if he looks bad in the first two possessions, switch to Thomas.
