  2. My preference is to add two teams to the conference, play the other nine in your division and three non-conference games. I am not so sure of trusting the Big-10 Conference office to "balance it out" for the west coast teams, especially Oregon, with your proposed two out-of-division Big-10 games. No SEC teams on our schedule unless CFB goes to a 24 team Playoff...if we do--epic games! We may disagree, but a great topic. Oregon vs. UCLA in the past...

  4. If the Big Championship game continues, and it continues fixed in Indianapolis, that seems it would benefit the East division.
  5. for the proposed West and East - not sure there would be anything comparable to Purdue, Rutgers and Maryland (East) as 3 annual in-division games in the West Most have 2 protected games though don't remember all the alignment details. Iowa has 3 but all 3 would be in the same West division. I believe Illinois vs Northwestern is a protected rivalry. That may be the only one which would cross divisions for a scheduling issue.
  6. I think that the powers that be of the OLD B1G would jump at it... mostly to avoid the west coast powers. Ohio State and Michigan would almost never have to return to Autzen. (¿once every 8-10 years?) All 4 of the old PAC12 teams either can or will be able to beat anyone in the B1G, depending on coaches, etc. (Who invited the Ducks anyway? ...and how did they get so physical??) It would also be easier on the west coast teams, travel wise... and also not having to play the east b1g boys all that often. I was disappointed that we don't play the LA schools every year.
  7. Oregon QB Dante Moore ruled out vs. UCLA as Dylan Raiola nears first Ducks start https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/oregon-qb-dante-moore-unlikely-to-play-vs-ucla-as-dylan-raiola-nears-first-ducks-start/
  8. Big Ten football teams in 2026 are not playing as predicted. Penn State and Michigan are faltering and failing, while teams from the old Big Ten West Division: Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, are playing better than predicted. It looks like FBS college football (CFB) is inexorably moving to a 24-team playoff. With these thoughts in mind and pondering Grandpa Duck's ideas of the Big Ten returning to Divisions, and with the coast-to-coast travel burdens, would a return to East and West Divisions make sense? With a 24-team playoff neutering the power of the Playoff Committee, do 10 conference games make sense? Open with a G6 opponent at home, then an out-of-conference game against an SEC opponent in an annual B1G versus SEC annual challenge. Games against the SEC would likely be staged over the first four games. Two East vs. West crossover games would be played before starting eight-game Division play. Eastern time zone to Western time zone games would be played before the weather worsens in the Midwest and the East. The B1G Pacific time zone members would meet every season, with the games back-loaded to the end of the season. The West Division would be the Pacific and Central time zones team, with Northwestern in the West and Illinois in the East. The Wildcats vs. the Illini would be a protected cross-conference game played the last week of the season. Oregon's schedule might look like this: Opening four games - San Jose State, at Florida (followed the next season with a game against Florida in Autzen), cross-Division games against Rutgers, and at Michigan. Four Division games in Autzen, four Division games on the road. Four at home with the final three opponents: UCLA, USC, and the final regular-season game against Washington. Men's and Women's basketball would play each Division member home and away, and trips to the Eastern time zone would be limited. This would be the format for all non-revenue sports. WEST: Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oregon, UCLA, USC, Washington, Wisconsin. EAST: Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers. CBS Sports post-Week 5 B1G rankings note the improvement of the former Western Division teams. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/big-ten-power-rankings-week-6-old-west-nebraska-northwestern-wisconsin-minnesota/ Of course, what I or anyone else thinks of this idea is meaningless unless media partners agree on the return to Divisions. However, Forum Friends, what do you think?

  11. End of an era. Thank you so much, Coach. You put your heart and soul into the program, and your presence will be felt for years to come. Go Ducks 🦆
  12. Five potential long-term head coach candidates for Oregon MBBWhile Stubblefield has head coaching experience, leading DePaul for three seasons, his interim tag is a sign that the Ducks may look elsewhere in their head coaching search. With an entire season still upcoming, it's likely that Oregon's head coaching search will be an extended one as they search for a long-term solution. Though it's very early in the process, these five coaches should receive a call from Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens and be considered viable candidates as he conducts the head coaching search. https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/mens-basketball/2026/10/07/oregon-mens-basketball-long-term-head-coach-candidates/92137465007/
  13. My understanding is that by leaving now the current roster will remain intact, because players can't transfer to a new school right now and expect to play this season, or to maintain or improve their current NIL deals. This gives Stubblefield a chance to be competitive this season, and gives the Ducks a nice long window to find a replacement. Hopefully the can find someone like Lanning, an up and coming coach with great character who can embrace the new dynamics of college basketball. We were lucky to have Dana, he represented the UO well, and I hope his health issues are solved quickly.
  14. "...getting a half-share of B1G revenue does not help..." Oregon currently receives about two-thirds of a full-share of all distributions. While UW and UO did start out at half-shares of the media portion of revenue they both receive full shares of other revenue such as CFP, NCAA Tournament, sponsorships, etc. The half-share of media portion goes through 2030, though it is also increasing modestly each year until the full jump in 2031. Though, 2031 will be under a new media contract. Most believe 2031 will at least equal the last year of the old media deal in 2030, but many B1G schools may be subject to the Big Ten re-evaluating distributions - such as providing Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State higher shares than Purdue, Minnesota.... Thus, a full share in 2031 may not be 100% of what OSU receives. How an individual school prioritizes that revenue with-in their programs will vary.
  15. Wow. They don’t come anymore genuine than Dana. Going to miss him. Hope his health issues resolve soon.

  18. Collins’ breakdown of Bruin offense in 12 man is eye opening. A lot of make or break situations could arise there, depending on how we defend it, match-up with their target gaps and still contain Lamaleava. We’ve got the personnel to do. Just gotta do it.
  19. Dan talks about Dana. Dan Lanning: "He's as good as they come."
  20. ESPN - FPI Post-Week 5 Strength of Record Rankings: UCLA 20/ Oregon 23 Strength of Schedule Ranking To Date/ Future SOS: Oregon 21/27 - UCLA 113/ 47 To date, Oregon's SOS is in a different league from the Bruins. Only 25 FBS programs have played easier schedules than UCLA. UCLA's three P4 victories came against Cal, Maryland, and Purdue. UCLA struggled for three quarters against a bad San Diego State team. 3-1 OBD has played three Top-25 teams and a bad FCS team. All of this factors into OBD being an 11.5-point favorite. Vanquish the Bruins!

  22. From John Canzano.... "Altman approached AD Rob Mullens this week and told him he needed to retire due to health issues. To Mullens’ credit, he tried to talk Altman out of it, offering that even if the coach could give 70 percent, they’d figure out how to make it work this season. “Dana was very emotional,” the source told me. “It’s just not in his nature to quit.” Altman’s abrupt departure, just eight victories shy of 800, is curious. I expected he’d start the season as coach and get to 800. But a source told me that Altman was in so much pain at practice last week that he had to lie down on the court twice. “Not life-threatening,” the source said. “But he’s having a rough time sleeping.” Tony Stubblefield was 28-54 at DePaul before being fired...

  24. Shocking news for this time of year. I thought for sure Altman would had had enough by the end of last season. Maybe he'd seen enough practices to know he couldn't take another year of this.
  25. Hopefully, it isn't a health issue regarding him or a close family member. Otherwise, though, the timing is very strange. Maybe he woke up and just decided he didn't want to go through a season with talent in the lower half of the conference?
