Giving Jordon Davison the ball moreOregon being down by as much as 10 points in the first half eliminated the Ducks' rushing attack for part of the game, but just 22 carries for the running backs is a number that should start to trend up. Davison was the most effective of the Ducks' duo picking up 90 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, averaging 7.5 yards. Given the strength of the Ducks' offensive line, Oregon should be able to create big holes against this Oklahoma State defense, and wear the Cowboys down while keeping their potentially explosive offense on the sidelines. 2. Cutting down on the penaltiesOne of the easiest issues Oregon can address moving from Week 1 to Week 2 is cutting down on the self inflicted errors. Oregon racked up 10 penalties accounting for 90 yards while Boise State committed just 3 penalties for 25 yards. The Ducks need to especially cut down on the 15-yard personal fouls that are easiest to eliminate. 3. 3rd and 4th down efficiencyThe biggest reason the Boise State game was as close as it was is the fact that the Ducks went 4-12 on 3rd downs and 0-2 on 4th downs. The Ducks are going to need to do a better job of staying ahead of the sticks, and making the later downs easier, and part of that may be running the ball more. Both 4th down plays looked to be schemed up well, and with better execution this week, the Ducks' offense should stay on the field longer. Game 1 turned out to be a no risk game... So didn't see the youngsters and newcomers so much. Hoping to see them this week against Ok State.

A couple of thoughts . . . How about some fade routes for these guys? I think I only saw a couple last year to anyone. Feed the heights! It was only game 1 for Drew and usually OCs like to keep things basic in the "pre season".

Getting Bair involved will be big in this as he has the height and jumps to win most of those 50-50 balls. Getting Johnson down the field as well will help with a lot of these too. And Harrison! the dude is like 6'7'' and could absolutely win most of those 50-50 balls.

Excellent analysis and thoughts. One thing I'd like to add is that, we need to let our receivers go win the ball. JMac has been excellent at this! Indiana and USC are not throwing to wide open receivers. They are letting their receivers go up and win those battles. We have the most talented receiver room at Oregon ever! Let those guys make some plays. I want to see DAK go beast mode.

I do bet, and I bet on Boise State last weekend. Of course, I rooted against my financial interest because I wanted the Ducks to win by a hundy. But free money is free money. We all knew we weren't going to cover that number.

The fact of the matter is that Our Beloved Ducks needed Boise State to play that well. It's all out in the open now, the things need to be worked on. Also the "national title talk" is now gone, and the jinx that comes with it. My hope is that they have a hard week of practice and are determined to make amends.

I don't bet ... and I wouldn't bet on the Ducks because Dan Lanning does not give a crap about the spread. He only cares about the win. I think here even if the Ducks did blow out the Broncos and the reserves did get some play, Boise State probably would have back-door covered anyways. Lanning would have seen he had the game under control and was giving his reserves valuable reps. Betting on a Lanning team to cover the spread is a risky proposition.
