Did Riley Just Give Up in the End?
Agreed. Not quite Kiffen-level disgust yet....but they're both in the same neighborhood at least.

CBS Will Broadcast Oregon vs. UCLA at 12:30 PM....
Glad OBD has a relatively early bye week. Good incremental improvement the last couple weeks and having the extra time for uninterrupted practice is going to be so valuable going forward. UCLA should be an unexpectedly competitive game.

QB’s Should Quit Sliding
But what is the alternative? I think diving head first isn't a better way to do it.

Prediction Contest: Oregon vs. USC....Join US!
This is honestly the hardest OBD game I've tried to predict. Anything can happen today. Oregon 38-35 2 TO 1 sack 282 yards passing

Will The REAL Oregon Ducks Please Stand Up?
Yeah, they're both listed as "questionable" for tomorrow. Hopefully it just means DL is hiding them and unleashing one or both at game time. https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2026/09/oregon-football-reveals-first-availability-report-of-season-ahead-of-usc-matchup.html

Stunning: Phil & Penny Knight Donate $1 BILLION to Establish a College of Engineering at OREGON
Same here, I got my degree in General Science and was doing the pre-med curriculum then pivoted to software engineering after graduation.

Oregon's Season Will Be Determined by the DEFENSIVE Line, Not the Offensive Line...
I have to agree. The o-line was expected to be a weakness because of the inexperience of the newcomers and it has played out that way. I think they took a step in the right direction in the PSU game but they have a long way to go (will they be good enough against USC, who knows). The d-line has been the absolute surprise and not in a good way. All that experience and talent up front, they should be dominating like a pack of wolves but playing like labra-doodle puppies. They have far more to prove now and it needs to get fixed ASAP. It's been shocking how much they can't get pressure on the opposing QB and how few sacks/TFLs they're getting.

We Lost McClellan Indefinitely
Well that sucks 😛 I hope he recovers well and comes back before the end of the season. In the meantime, I liked what I've seen out of Messiah Hampton so far. He's shown good hands and urgency. Could be the WR3 right away.

Dylan Raiola: Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking?
People said a lot of the same things about Bo Nix while he was at Auburn. Turns out a terrible team makes the QB look terrible too.

Oregon Transfer Out-Kingston Lopa, is KILLING IT…
Imagine pairing him with Jett Washington on the field...

Will Stein’s Kentucky Beat No. 9 Texas A&M…
Nice win for coach Stein. That being said, yes the Oregon offense was better under him because he's currently a better and more experienced play caller than Meringer. It should be interesting to see how much he improved over this week for the USC game.

I'm Glad We Lost!
The PSU QB was pretty good at getting rid of the ball quickly.

Portland State Game Thread
No idea who Brady Bidwell is but that was a gutsy catch!

Portland State Game Thread
Yup. I don't mind them celebrating as a group afterwards on the sideline. But leave that silly end zone dancing in the locker room.

Good to see Raiola demonstrating a good grasp of the offense. Pretty decisive with his execution as well.

I hope they continue to tamp down on that. I want them celebrating wins not individual achievements.

Portland State Game Thread
Tuning in late to the game. I'm not surprised about the score so far, hopefully that means overall the team is playing cleaner and not making lazy/sloppy mistakes. Watching the last couple offensive plays, I'm still unimpressed with the OL. They should not be giving up a sack to a team like PSU and the play afterward Iuli got beat on his run block attempt allowing Davidson to go down after only a short gain. Still a lot of work to do.

Marsh Duck - Final Thoughts Before Oregon vs PSU
I'd like to see the defensive scheme make more sense. I saw on some replays where Amari Washington was being dropped back into coverage...a DT in coverage?? That just blew my mind and not in a good way. That particular play was one where the other 3 linemen were blocked and the QB was able to run through a gap for a first down (that gap would've been covered by Amari).

Marsh Duck - Final Thoughts Before Oregon vs PSU
I think basically everyone is waiting to see what things were fixed over the short week. For me, I want to see if anything's changed on the OL. If both the tackles don't show improvement the offense is doomed for the rest of the season.

Taking a Moment to Give Devon Jackson Props
That play reminded me of DK Metcalf chasing down Buddha Baker. Another big dude who is alarmingly fast. https://youtu.be/9ImdWvuzsCY?is=zi8OJNEnoz9wdX8v

Offensive Line Play Was Really THAT Bad...
Pretty good analysis video dissecting the OL play over the weekend. The interior was generally ok since they were manned by experienced guys (Iuli, Pancho, Rodgers) but the tackle spots and additional linemen (like Tofi) in 6 man front plays were absolutely terrible and consistently compromised the front. The youth and inexperience really shows. Pretty eye-opening.

Marsh Duck - Where's the Team?
One thing that occurred to me yesterday about Dante: we keep expecting him to play like Bo Nix or Dillon Gabriel when it comes to reading the field and making decisions. I think we need to stop that. Bo and Dillon were 5th and 6th year QBs when they came to Oregon with multiple years of starting experience in other offensive systems. Plenty of coaching there that taught them to read defenses and look for open receivers down field. Then in Eugene they combined that with the high efficiency offense that Dilly and Will Stein ran, getting the best of both worlds. It's what made both these guys dangerous to defend. Dante does not have that background. He had a single year at UCLA where he learned very little because that team was terrible and Chip Kelly had one foot out the door. Afterward he came to Oregon where he sat for a year soaking up primarily high efficiency concepts and then started a year with basically just that background. Given that the "bird bomb" aspect of the offense has been minimal to non-existent since Gabriel's time, it makes me think that the offense is actually hampering his development. That might help explain why he keeps rushing his decisions to make a quick play and routinely miss open receivers 30-40 yards out. These are the thoughts of a fan and not a coach obviously but it feels like it makes sense.

Marsh Duck - Where's the Team?
This kid posted a 40 minute video doing nothing but reviewing a slew of offensive plays from the game. It allows you to see a lot of what's happening in detail: bad play calls, poor execution, head scratching decisions, etc. I found it pretty enlightening.

Overheating in Stillwater Isn't Just an Excuse
I recall Chip Kelly changing conditions within the indoor practice facilities in the days before a road game where he knew the climate would be different. Wonder if DL has done anything like that.

Oregon Falls 12 Spots to No. 18 in Latest Coaches Poll
Agree with the potential road ahead. But that hinges on a ton of stuff being fixed very quickly. Biggest obstacle right now is whether the coordinators grow up in 2 weeks. Right now it feels like a really tall order for them.
