A bit melancholy about the entire situation. Absolutely Loved me some Altman Basketball teams. Enjoyed being a fan while getting an average of 24 Victories a season. Granted the last few years were "rough" but always thought Dana would turn it around. Coaching at this level in Any sport is hard, time consuming, life absorbing. I applaud Dana self reflection in knowing the "energy through passion" has wained and thus knowing he could no longer provide his best. That is called integrity. Like most previous positive experiences I have had, but are now memories because "time waits for no one", I will be able to look back at the Altman years with the same warm, nostalgic, uplifting memories that such experiences foster. Thank you Dana Altman for all you brought to Oregon Basketball and the young men you helped on their way in life. I for one will always be grateful for the quality of basketball you helped provide, and the quality of humanity you reflected in the way you carried yourself, OBD teams, and a solid representative for our state and university. Greybeard here, but I remember the time that ANY mention or eluding to O/U, PT. Spread, or gambling references of ANY kind was grounds for being Fired by the respective broadcasting entity. Now there are "gambling/investing(lol, yeah right) shows on ALL broadcast entities, tv, radio, internet. dedicated and instructing on how to bet this weeks games. Great Breakdown by Max Browne. I am sure the same is done on a weekly basis from game and practice film. Sooo much evaluation going on, all the time, that us fans are not privy to. Each QB has their strengths and challenges. I don't think we will see Dante on the field for at least three to four weeks. Concussion protocols are Not to be messed with and any doubt extends the time for a player to be cleared. D Lanning has always made it clear that every position is up for competition. Dante and Dylan both admitted to be pushed by each other earlier this year. In the NIL, 5 to play 5, Transfer portal era, teams can afford to be less "loyal?" to their upperclassmen players and actually focus on hot hands or best situational football. Whatever happens at the QB position over the course of the rest of this year, I for one feel very confident and comfortable with the one QB that the OR coaching staff believes gives OBD the Best opportunity to achieve the goals they set out for this team before the season began. If both of our QB's continue to successfully address their challenges; then either one can help OBD succeed like we want to see them succeed. That's a GREAT position to be in. 🦆🏈🪨's

Very nice "scout team" scrimmage tonight. Depth of OBD really was on display. Ordinarily I am not crazy about these FCS noncon games but this one came at the right time to help get the Duckies outa their heads and back to playing with purpose and efficiency. Now is the time to focus on the upcoming USC trip. We will learn a lot more about the character and leadership of this team with our trip to LA next week. Hope to continue on an upward trajectory. What has been said, has been said. The talking heads have had their field day deconstructing the Ducks. Fans have done the fan(atics) thing. Friday night lights against a local non con "whippinghorse" will fade ALL of this last weeks "trauma" as this weeks storylines give everyone something else to talk/fret about. Polls are meaningless except for talking points for talking heads or conference "pimps", to justify their positions regarding said conferences. True, at the end of the season "one particular poll" DOES in fact have meaning and as we have seen in the playoff era, they don't really care or adhere to the other "ole timey" polls rankings. (The super secret, star chamberish processes that they do adhere to is still one of the universes greatest unsolved mysteries....but that's a topic for another thread!) If Boise St. Runs the table in the "new' PAC, then this win will only be viewed as a positive for OBD's SOS. But, don't be surprised when Boise St. Once again visits Autzen in November as the G-6 representative. (Those star chamber mofo's love to "setup" conflicts in the playoffs as this.) Anyway. Rather have a contested win like this one was, than a contested (controversial) win against vastly inferior opponent ala Michigan/W. Michigan.
