Lanning Will Need to be B1G in Year 3
Exactly, and I’d add to look at it this way…11 of the final top 12 this year will be in the SEC and B1G next year, and 5 of those teams had 2 losses this year. With them all playing each other more, probably 8 of the top 12 will have an additional loss. I don’t see anyway there are not multiple teams with 3 losses making the field

It Continues For The Beavs
Cracks me up that not increasing the price for an inferior package is a positive. They should be knocking 25% off…not sure how well San Jose State would draw if they’re 2-2 with home losses to Oregon and Purdue.

Lanning Will Need to be B1G in Year 3
Right on, good stuff. I think the number of losses that constitute a playoff worthy year with a 12 team playoff, and 2 super conferences is going to take a recalibration of everyone’s brain. What happens if the top 3-4 teams in the SEC and B1G all have 2-3 losses? Does a 2 loss runner up in the Big12 make it over a 3 loss third place team from the SEC? Will be fun to watch it unfold, but I think there’s a decent chance the winners of the new super conferences have 2 losses, those schedules are seriously upgrading.

Saturday Bowls: Let's Discuss!
Of course, if the top 3 in the new conference all get decapitated by the SEC, it’s moot. No one is hanging their hat on Rutgers.

Good points, bowl records will be marketed.

Why Oregon Needs Their ‘A’ Game for Liberty U.
Turnovers. Liberty can only win if they’re +3 or more. I think Oregon wins by at least 30 if they don’t turn it over.

Saturday Bowls: Let's Discuss!
I think Alabama is gong to crush all it pains me to say. One inconsistency I’m seeing in here and everywhere else is to selectively use bowl results to draw sweeping conclusions. I tend to be leaning towards you can have takeaways at the micro level (OSU depth isn’t up to snuff with the big boys for instance), but you can’t draw conclusions that one conference is better than another because of overall bowl records at the macro. Bowl season has become an individual game depth measurement.

I Don't Think Beavers are Mammals...
Lot of political pressures to play this game and we should hand them their butt when we’re at full strength in good weather…no matter how much they posture they’re a team with MWC level depth that just had their starters gutted. They’ll be lucky to win 8 games next year, I’d predict 7-5. Them getting more money is annoying but doesn’t really impact us at all. Bottom line, are the top 5 donors happy with the leadership or not?

Hawaii Game In Doubt?
Not possible, has to be in Hawaii to have a 13th game exemption

USC Wins 42-28
Will definitely preserve rosters for 12 teams as opposed to 4, which is an improvement. Flip side is it will probably make the remaining bowls even worse
-
USC Wins 42-28
All with a grain of salt since bowl games really are pretty meaningless as overall indicators, these are not the teams they were in November for either side. That being said, I think Louisville was feeling pretty good about being set up for next year and that was a decent representation of their D that played FSU a few weeks ago.

USC Wins 42-28
And that’s the team FSU couldn’t move the ball on

What If...the Huskies Make Oregon Look GOOD?
Texas squeaks by UW, Alabama dominates twice, unfortunately.

What If...the Huskies Make Oregon Look GOOD?
Nope, that’d be a glass-half full scenario if it happened. I want them to lose a heartbreaker to Texas on a controversial replay call.

Dreams or Reality? Can the Pac-2 Become a Power-Six Conference? Paid Like It?
One thing that seems to be a narrative is the OSU fanbase believing they’re calling all the shots once their new conference is formed. They become a singular voting member once it happens, and if they’re complete pricks about how things are initially set up, they may find expansion from 2 more difficult than they think. They really seem to believe that the PAC12 brand will deliver a grant of rights similar to the last offer before things fell apart, delusional. Not sure what a new name and adding these two clown shows to the MWC brings to the table, they’ll be lucky to get $10m per team and will not be considered P4/P5.

The Fiesta Bowl is a Must-Win Game for Lanning
Bowl games mean almost nothing anymore. The bowl standings thing is hilarious now. Look at our idiot bucktoothed cousins matchup. They’ll be trotting out a third string QB, backup HB, almost entirely new o-line, etc. ND has had at least a dozen transfers or declares…yet chalk it up in the conference bowl standings. As to us, it would be a monumental egg in face if we lost, but honestly, I forgot about USC losing to Tulane until this thread. I probably remembered it for a hot minute at the beginning of the season, but embarrassment aside, it had zero impact on anything. Bowl games no longer have any correlation to what your regular season team was, it’s merely an exhibition between two organizations fielding unique bowl teams.

CU Later? Buff Fans INFURIATED with Dan Lanning
I mean, rivalries have to be a two way thing, right? CU who? As relevant as San Jose State at this point.
-
CU Later? Buff Fans INFURIATED with Dan Lanning
Easy to talk big when you know you will never have to cash in the “receipts” you kept. Prime knows there’s almost no chance he’ll ever play the UO again before he leaves CU. I'd also add that anyone clinging to a single, split “natty” by popular vote needs to settle down…that’s as lame as bragging about a “natty” in hoops from 1939. 🙃

Bottom Line: How Oregon WINS B1G in the New Pac-12 Settlement
Every aspect of what has happened has been greatly distorted due to OSU having two good seasons, recency bias is very real. The truth is, OSU and WSU have one Rose Bowl victory between them in over 100 years of football. The one victory was just after Pearl Harbor and was played in North Carolina. They are only relevant at all because of the company they have kept. I think my recent personal tipping point with them is the fanbase attitude that they are somehow doing things “the right way” and playing off that they chose their current path, and when we come back begging to join the new pac12 they’ll turn us down. It’s just so delusional on every front… and then we feed that monster by providing their best home game of the year that they control the TV rights to, inflating their ego even more. Bottom line for me, it’s annoying, but the reality is this is a starter fund and even their best case scenario is probably a rebranded WAC/MWC that doesn’t fool anyone. I think they really believe keeping the PAC name equals keeping an auto-bid, even next year.

The 2024/25 CFB Playoff Format Will NOT Last
Great article! I always thought 12 was a weird number, but have come around to thinking that the bye week is a good incentive…16 is probably better though. Thanks for the thoughts!

Bottom Line: How Oregon WINS B1G in the New Pac-12 Settlement
Well congrats to OSU and WSU on “getting” startup funds to try to cobble together a mid-major conference. It’s still the original WAC no matter how they brand it. This really does make me wish we hadn’t scheduled them.

Harbaugh Reportedly Being Offered $125Mil for 10 Years
I’m sure they wouldn’t regret that at all in 2 years 🙄 They’re going to get hammered if he stays.
