Too early to compare! Do we compare the current Dante Moore, or the finished product after being a starter for two years? Do we compare him to a Bo Nix after one year, or after his huge leap in the second year? I think we need to let Dante Moore perform his second year at starter before we place a rating for comparison upon him...IMHO.

I am in agreement about the settling of the offensive line, and how starting with Boise State makes it tougher to figure things out. I believe we will be "OK" in the first three games on the OL, and things really jell in time for our big game in LA...

To me, it is consistency which is helpful when comparing to the past. The data going back with 247 comes from their purchase of Scout.com, and that group of sites was owned by a Husky. It was more than suspicious when a 3-Star player committed to Washington...and suddenly was elevated to 4-Star. It went the other way with Duck recruits; those who were 4-Star were often mysteriously dropped to 3-Star when they verballed to Oregon. It happened so often that it was no longer a discussion point--it was assumed; Washington's ranking was overvalued, and Oregon's was undervalued. Thus the historical data of 247 is corrupted, IMHO. And both 247 and ESPN toss out 5-Stars as if a dime-a-dozen, especially when going to the SEC. Rivals is tougher and consistent, IMHO. No cheating with Rivals!

Hello my Duck-Buddies, I was slack-jawed at two recruiting surprises today, as first....Dakota Guerrant was elevated from 4-Star to 5-Star by Rivals, which is fantastic. As you know, I favor the Rivals ratings because, 1) they are tougher with their rankings, which ultimately becomes more accurate over time, and 2) because they are consistent. I can go back 20 years and trust their rankings and it helps when comparing recruiting results of the present to the past. But the other surprise was how he was the ONLY 5-Star recruit with Rivals! You can see it right here, and it is astounding the Xavier Sabb is not a Rivals 5-Star, nor Rashad Streets? But I have to remember something; the Duck football staff is superb at recruiting players with upside, and it is common that every season we have many players elevated in star status. Last year I recall how Jordon Davison was elevated to 5-Star on Rivals, and was also named the Max-Prep Player of the Year for the entire state of California at the end of the year, and it was largely unnoticed. I was blown away, since it is so darn hard to get that fifth star from Rivals. I was shouting from the rooftops to "watch out for this guy," and we know how well it turned out. (One of my 50% of the predictions that turns out right) It is my belief that we will have one, if not two 4-Stars get elevated to 5-Stars over the course of the upcoming high school football season. In particular, we have EIGHT players who are 3-Stars with Rivals, and we routinely have multiple players get elevated to 4-Star over the course of the season in the past. My thoughts? I am thinking that three get elevated, and hope for four. (Most rational observers would say that asking for three to be elevated is a stretch, but then--I am not a rational Duck fan.) Right now, we are No. 4 in the National Recruiting Rankings right here, and we will add a few more before December. However if my wish-list above with star elevation occurs--Oregon could move up the rankings on simply our players with upside rising in the rankings. How many do YOU think will get elevated, and where will we end up in the HS recruiting rankings after the signing in December? I LIKEY....Dakota Guerrant

Yep, they wrote...an article about an article, and they don't even extend the courtesy of linking the referenced article--even after using it as a topic. Again...our Duck News Hunters, NJDuck, Steven A., Smith72, and Jon Joseph, are already sorting out duplicates among articles and posting the best ones that deliver the news about Oregon sports. They put in a ton of time on our behalf, and I am very grateful for their volunteer time given. They know that we do not need redundant articles that concludes with, "what Oregon needs to watch out for."

After looking over about 15 articles published today--I am realizing that the "new" FishDuck site is just a regurgitation of prior articles that our Duck News Hunters have posted. Their articles are, "articles about articles" and the one above is from an article from Addicted to Quack that we already posted. We don't need redundant articles, so I am asking the volunteers who post articles for us to delete FishDuck articles that are a reference to another article with "blah-blah" added to it. I never thought I'd be recommending against articles from FishDuck! I will not refer to the site as "new" FishDuck anymore, as new implies better. They are "AI FishDuck" now, and I'd rather have real writers in a heartbeat!

I see the value of the "hot-hand" at crucial junctures in the game, but those games we have in hand--I'd like to see the depth chart utilized to get the young-guns reps and experience. A massively overlooked aspect of the offense going into this fall is the how the emphasis on the passing game could open up many one-on-one matches in the flat between Dierre Hill and a linebacker. I believe he will have his jukes refined this year after seeing what game-speed at the highest level is. Explosion Plays Coming!

Rivals National Analyst Greg Biggins is High on Sabb. “Sabb has one of the best athletic profiles in the country when you look at the multi-sport background, two-way snaps and his athletic traits. He’s a three year starter on the hoops team and plays above the rim. As a sophomore, he had personal best times of 10.69-100m, 22.01-200m and a 6’2″ high jump. He’s a legit high major prospect at receiver and safety and could conceivably get snaps on both sides of the ball. “Wide receiver has always been his favorite position and he had a solid junior season with 59 catches for 896 yards and 13 touchdowns. Shows dynamic playmaking ability after the catch and has the juice to score from anywhere on the field. Can go up and win 50-50 balls and contested catches and has high end body control. Shows big play ability as a return man as well and has a natural feel for making guys miss and picking up chunks of yards where it looks like there’s not much there. “A high ceiling prospect with an NFL upside.”
