I love that McNutt was mentioned. I remember the buzz on him before he broke his leg. Super high ceiling for this dude. McNutts injury was not connective tissue or joints. He should be able to get back to pre-injury form. Devon Jackson. 22' blue chip recruit, top 100 guy. Can he meet the moment and live up to his potential? I think he will. I think you can throw Bryce in the Roosevelt slot. Hometown kid that overcame adversity of a walk on to the NFL Draft. He was the heart of the Duck D last year. He wasn't the best LB Ducks have had but as a total pkg on and off the field, he meant so much to that team

I would love for USC to become a rival. They have played some dirty pool in the conf realignment. Their shenanigans trying to crush Oregon in smokey back room deals is disgusting. I just don't see them as a rivalry game at this point. Trojan has spent the better part of 2 decades whining about Oregon. And Duck fans have spent the the time laughing at Trojan. The B1G should stoke the flames and schedule them every year late. Until then, for me, it falls short of a rivalry

Hopefully the B1G will recognize the opportunity here. To be true rival requires an annual match-up imo. It's hard to get the juices flowing playing every third year. I have a ton of hate for Trojan. Especially after they tried to stick it to Oregon in the reshuffle. Cowards! This fued is ripe to be a full blown "kick'em when they are down" rivalry. Hopefully the B1G powers will recognize this and schedule yearly. I would love to stomp Trojan into the ground every November for sure.

Koi Perich comes across to me as a mercenary. Seems to want exposure to get into the league as the primary reason to be here. I don't think he cares about Oregon outside of a means to an end. Hope I am wrong.

Agree. Recruiting at such a high level year to year is a huge advantage. The tp will thin depth for sure. But I think the teams that recruit top 5, perhaps 10, will still dominate the sport most years. We will still have outlier making/winning the NC. Oregon had 2 teams play for the NC, should have been 3 (2001), with lesser talent from a recruiting standpoint across the board. IU did it last year. The beauty of today's cfb is that more talent will spread out and we will get better football. No longer are a handfull of team able to hoard talent.

I think Lupoi got exposed and embarrassed by Chip. And then again by Shanahan. Lupoi is a good coach when it comes to recruiting and player development, maybe great. I am suspect of his play calling and adjustments when the heat is on. Lupoi seemed predictable imo. We will see this year.

Teams like UGA, tOSU, Bama... tend to be younger (20 yo and younger). They get the most high 4 and 5 star guys. Elite talent jumps to the NFL at 3 years. Oregon has stacked 4 classes in a row that fit this trend. Top 5 classes. The 26 starting units are not the norm and the 25 team was one of the youngest in all of college football. Per Rivals IU recruited somewhere around 50th in 2025 and around 30th for 2026 and 27 class. Cig has to rely on the TP pretty heavy to remain at a high level. IU are the national champs. I am jealous of that for sure. I am not sure that staying near the top of CFB is sustainable recruiting outside the top 10. We will see

5 for 5? This will advantage teams that are proven to develope guys into NFL draft picks at a high level. Lanning and his staff are near the top of this list. I'd say top 3. Very few teams are capable of managing a roster at the level Lanning has proven over the past few years. Dan has aced all three levels. HS recruitment, TP and retaining those currently on the roster. The gap between the haves and have-nots will get wider. It ages cfb another year (kinda) allowing more time for the cream to seperate. Does this open the door for a reshift of cfb again? Seems so but who knows?

Can Smith play LB? Dude looks tough as nails. He has the athleticism and knows offenses. Probably a silly thought but it would be fun watching Smith knock back RBs at the LOS.

I don't know, it doesn't quite land the same as it does with Lanning's Oregon. Maybe you have to be a Kentucky fan to get the vib? Sorry Will, Kentucky isn't Oregon and you aren't Lanning. Hope you prove otherwise though. Would love to see you tear up Bama, Texas and Okie along the way for sure.

Your recognition of Lanning and this staffs ability to recognize talent and develope that talent, imo, is spot on. Mariø, while at Oregon anyhow, not so much.

I am excited for this defense. Most of these guys have been in the system multiple years. The base should be set in stone at this point. Multiple years of practice, film study, game play, strength/conditioning and what not should create a cohesion and understanding not seen at Oregon in a long time. Hopefully Lanning and Hampton open it up and let this defense eat. There is no reason not too. If this D cant play well into the playbook, cant play above base defense, there is a problem. A problem only Lanning can address. This defense, on paper, looks nasty. Let them fly and live with the results.

Also, congrats on the health changes. It's hard to do all the things necessary, especially when you get above 50. I am also on a health journey at 57 years old. Lost 40lbs of body fat and gained 12 lbs lean muscle bringing my fat down to 15%. Off all meds and feel 35 again. Stay with it brother. It's super hard but worth it.

Oregon has been the high water mark for USC for 20 years. Nice to see they have finally come to terms with that fact.

Wasn't Oregon #1 in the nation in recruiting average. I remember it being a thing due to the smaller class size. Could be wrong though. The quality of the talent Oregon brings in is outstanding. Dudes who can play winning football year one.

70-30 to 60-40ish. I don't know how you limit Hill. The guy flashed "elite" as a true freshman. When the game is still in Question, imo, you gotta thin the heard to Hill and Davison. Hopefully Mehringer can recognize the hot hand quicker than Stein showed. Or risk simply being known as Meh'. I feel pretty comfortable knowing Davison is in the backfield early. He can alleviate a ton of pressure of this young O line as they work some kinks out. The concerns fans have about this team are really good problems to have. It is good to be a Duck.

I think Lupoi coached his career best last year. He played a huge role in the recruitment and development of the talent. There is a lot of criticism of Lupoi from many fans. I ingnor game chat critics, out side of game chat some make good arguments. It will be interesting to see how the next few years play out. I am grateful that Lupoi spent this time with the Ducks. He is a big reason, not the only reason, Oregon is at the elite level they are.

Yea, Lanning didn't hit the portal for O line or LB. Ducks can pull top talent in the portal. A reputation well earned by proven development at every position group. It seems Lanning is comfortable with the talent on the team.
