Lanning Plays With Fire, Duck Fans Get Burned
Good article. On the flip side, oregons 8 game run was, in part, due to Nix ability to be a running threat. Nix was injured because a Fusky lowered his head and launched himself into Bo's legs with the crown of the helmet. No flag? It was dirty and cheap, typical Fusky move. Doesn't discount your point though. This staff takes unnecessary risk. But I like the overall performance of this staff offensively. Fingers crossed Bo gets to 90% this week. It's an ankle so probably not

Dan Lanning Calling the Plays?
Duck D will need a repeat performance friday. Points offensively will be hard to come by. Oregon D gave up 10 to Utes, impressive. Nix might or might not play. It's his ankle, ankles take a long time to heal. Hope he can go but I am less optimistic than I was last week.

Boy, the Experts Sure Had Oregon Pegged...
We didn't do much better here though. But we atleast went with a Duck victory

Talk About an Ugly Win
Bo Nix left a mark on Oregon football Saturday night. The toughness at the QB position from Nix will be legendary. Every Duck and Tiger fan should be proud. No matter what happens in Cornburg this friday, Dan Lanning has done a spectacular job his first year. Says a lot concerning the loss to Fusky last Saturday. The future looks good for Lannings Ducks. Ugly or not.

Beat the Beavs and the Rose Bowl is Ours?
Oregon is almost a lock win or lose. It would require UCLA to lose to Cal and a Oregon loss to Beavus, Fusky loss to Cougs. I think. Strange year.

I Learned Some Things
Thorntons adjustments at full speed to catch that ball was the best catch I have seen all year. Dudes 6'5", what athleticism. He is going to be special next season. To Bad Nix threw the pick on the next play. Kinda took the sizzle out of DT's catch. Oregon has a ton of grit. They showed it against Cougs and again here v. Utes. Super proud of this team. This Utes game will be talked about for decades. Nix will forever be a Duck great. Tough as nails.

Oregon Football: Let’s Pump the Brakes on Trick Plays
Blaming Ty? The coaches made the call. It's on the staff 100%. Ty hasn't shown he has what it takes to play at a high level. He might be able to help the 2-7 Raiders though.

Oregon Football: Let’s Pump the Brakes on Trick Plays
Any play, trickery or not, that involves TT should be put on the shelf. I am looking for TT to transfer out and open up room for others. The guy is a Bust. I know a lot of us have pulled hard for the kid. But TT hasn't shown he is a football player. Sadly, the guy can't play.

Oregon's Path to the Playoffs Is Not Far Fetched
Wow! Thats needing the ball to bounce in the right direction a ton. But hey, I will bang that drum. Go Ducks!

Figure Bo's Condition?
They weren't running Bo. Utes were able to key up on the backs. My guess is Bo 2as about 80%.

So...Bo, Other Injured are a GO for the Game?
Bo warmed up with the ones. Be surprised if he isn't starting

Cota was receiving punts in warm ups.

OBD Prediction Contest vs. Utah!
With Bo (official prediction)? Ducks 33-27 2 2 285 W/O Bo? Utes 27-20 2 2 216

Hoping for a Great Game (and a Ute Victory)
With Bo you have a qb that can manage the offense from LOS. Thats a huge loss of advantage. Something only experience brings. Bo is a tuff dude. He will play if he can give 75% or better. Ducks by seven if Bo plays.

Can the Oregon Ducks Beat Utah Without Nix?
If it is Ty, we will know early in the first quarter. Without Nix? I don't see Ducks scoring more that 20. Going to take a lot more than that to get a win. Hope Fusky safety chokes on a grape! Crown of the helmet to Bo's legs. Lowered the head, shows intent. No laundry thrown. WT...

Tough Question: Are These the Right Defensive Coaches?
Ducks have one DB that can play man. One true corner starting in Gonzo. Bridges is a converted safety. The LB are not good in pass coverage. They are slow east to west. Oregon runs a 4-2-5. You need speed for that. Ducks don't have it. Lanning is installing a defense that took Kirby a few years to get fully implemented. Have to have the right personnel. Oregon has the same woes in pass coverage they had last year under MC. This time without a legitimate pass rusher. This is a player personnel problem imo. The Ducks are also super young. 85% underclassmen with a new, very complex scheme defensively. Defense is hard and will take a sec to get implemented. This won't be the same D next year. Ducks are 8-2 right now. Pretty good considering the past 12 months and all I mentioned above. I think they are right on track. I view any "dump the coach" mantra as a knee-jerk reaction to losing to fusky at home. Understandable, it's horrible. We gave MC 4 years, might have been longer is he didn't dump the Ducks. Lanning is the right guy. Losing sucks! Lanning will win a lot more than he loses. Who knows, Lanning just might bring Oregon a national championship. Something the previous 31 have failed to do.

Two Cents Worth .... Nix Injury
It happened at the 4:04 mark in the 4th. I think Lanning needs an explanation from the Pac-12 and the Washington staff. I think where most of us have a hard time focusing in on this one play is the fact that so many areas of this game were incredibly flawed. From coaching to execution. Probably the worst defensive play I have ever seen from a Duck team. Absolutely horrible. No excuse for it, thats why Lanning didn't give one. But this play was also a turning point and could have ended Bo's season and possibly career. Unacceptable.

Two Cents Worth .... Nix Injury
Rules 1. Spearing is the deliberate use of the helmet (including the face mask) in an attempt to punish an opponent. 2. No player intentionally shall strike a runner with the crown or top of the helmet. I posted this rule earlier. Nix immediately knew. Thats why he looked at the LB who speared him the way he did. No flag, seems to be a non issue to most. To me it was an illegal tackle. I am Not sure if it was intentional but Bo appeared to think so. Dude did lower his head and spear Nix in the legs. Lowering the head shows intent. The history between these two teams is heated.

Something to Ponder...Bo Nix Returns?
The 4:04 mark of the 4th overshadows any other "what if". Nix is gone next year for that one play alone.
-
The Penalty and the Botched Snap
I looked at the 4:04 mark of the 4th several times. It's not why we lost this game. Plenty of poor coaching decisions did that. But... Rules 1. Spearing is the deliberate use of the helmet (including the face mask) in an attempt to punish an opponent. 2. No player intentionally shall strike a runner with the crown or top of the helmet.

WATCH: Dan Lanning Postgame Press Conference | Washington
Taking the loss will have no effect on recruiting. The atmosphere will and it was electric

I Am Too SHOCKED to Be Angry...
A second loss doesn't bother me as much, being that it is DL first year. What sucks is that it was to Fusky in Autzen. Painful Lanning made some mistakes. Dudes smart, he will learn. Hope this team comes out angry next week and destroys Utes. As for Nix...🤞🤞🤞 took crown of the helmet to lower leg. Targeting? I don't know. It was one of a few game changing moments.

WATCH: Dan Lanning Postgame Press Conference | Washington
8-2 and a shot at the conf championship. Lanning is a first year HC. I am not going to run him over for taking a second loss. His biggest mistake was not calling timeout to get Nix back in on that fourth down. Lanning will learn from it. Man that D was horrible. At this point of the season it ain't getting any better. It's still a great season. Lanning will get Ducks highly competitive for years to come. Just sucks that loss two came from fusky in Autzen.
