Just read on Oregonlive that apparently Indiana exploited it in the blowout win against OBD also last season and there is now a book on it. I think too much of the analysis of this loss has been to lay blame on OBD and how WE LOST a game that WE should've won. Of course that's what we do on an OBD fan forum. But I think the Cowboys deserve a ton of credit for playing hard and not letting up. THEY DID WIN against a top-10 team and their QB was IMO much more heisman-worthy than ours, for example...

Very informative and shocking in a way, but not a complete surprise how much OBD spends on the players. While "on-field success generally follows the money", it has unfortunately not been the case for us so far this year. Hope we get back to the general trend soon, by beating Portland State soundly this Friday night!

This. The business of college football is beyond wild west now. It's not entirely DL's fault for not being the top dog. Indiana succeeded last year because of the brilliant coaching mind and philosophy of Cig. But we will see how they fare this year. Mario is having success in Miami because he seems to be able to recruit not just great players, but also good assistants. Again, we will see how they do this year... Everyone is trying to figure out the right formula in this crazy time. It's not just assembling the best players any more, like Kirby Smart whispered to DL after that first beatdown...

Definitely more disappointed than sad. After all, we have multiple millionaire "students athletes" playing ball, just killing time like a typical NFL game. This wasn't and won't be first such performance, unfortunately. At this point, I hate to admit, but Mario was probably the coach who could best get us that elusive natty. DL is good, but being too young limits his ceiling. He gambles too much, is not wise picking staff, fails at motivating players for big games (and small) or making halftime adjustments. It sucks that last week's USA Today piece was proven right...
