Lanning did gamble and fail in the first two games, with 0-6 4th down conversion record. Worst one by far was the 4th-and-8 at the our own 33-yard line in Q4 of the OSU game which arguably cost us the chance to win. But I see that he cleaned things up in the Nebeska game, going for it only when it makes sense, with a 3 for 3 record on 4th downs. He clearly was a much more conservative coach in that game. Glad he listened to criticisms. The only coaching flaw in that game was changing QB late, but fortunately not too late for us to beat the sleepy cornhusks.

7th punts and still 3 minutes left in Q1. I am going to do something else. Please try in-game adjustments, DL, it can be fun!

All very encouraging. At this point, we don't have anything to lose (except for Civil War in a nobody-cares bowl), so why not try everything. In fact, let's do it in game and adjust quickly when things stop working! That would be real progress.

The offense lacks good skill coaching and looks unmotivated. Both can be blamed on the coaches. It's much harder in this NIL age to motivate players that are making millions already. So the quickest solution is having smart game plan and management, which is easier said than done. Sorry but I am not very encouraged by the 2 losses so far. I just don't see us realistically winning more than 7 games this year at this point. So maybe Idaho Potato Bowl vs the Beavs?

Gambling Dan needs to change. If he didn't go for two in the first TD, he would've needed to go for 2 in the end of the game and we would have gone to OT. If you take out the PSU game, our O probably won't even crack top 20... D is a really disgrace IMHO, with all the NFL-level talent. Something'd better change soon, starting with the next game against a ranked UCLA.

Sure, OBD was up by 14 and had 99% chance of winning. But with 1:30 left and USC driving, did anyone find it strange that they didn't call timeout or even try to get out of bounds. Did they just give up? With the way Jayden Maiava had been throwing the ball against Oregon D all night, I would've expected them to be able to quickly score and try an onside kick. What am I missing?

Our D needs to improve dramatically for us to contend for the B1G and go to CFP. But the O will be more than fine with Raiola!

Everyone is pertty much spot on here. That's why this is a great forum - OBD have smart fans! One thing I want to say is that we are not Clemson because we have never won a Natty yet. If we are talking about the trojectry - I don't think we are in that dire of a shape yet coz we still can recruit. We just need better coaching, mostly at the assistant level.

I only watched maybe a quarter of the game Friday night because it just wasn't that interesting. But the final score did show the D played perfect. Of course that game was just a gloried practice for the whole team, so we don't really know until they play next week again. Hopefully they got some good practice out of it and are not feeling cocky because of that one game. They did fail pretty badly in the first two games and need to focus on fixing the scheme and putting in more effort.

LOL about the emoji, but I am rooting for the Irish now that they are my best hope of my family's teams for the CFP :) I think OBD fans should move past ND anyway coz we are really the richer, more entitled and possibly the more hated team in America now, right? Congrats?

Absolutely Mr. OBD! Following OBD is literally watching a bunch of millionaires playing games nowadays. That's why it's extra frustrating when they lose games that they should have won handily and make stupid mistakes even high school players don't make. Let's hope they get their acts together. If not, nobody will feel sorry for them. It will just suck to be a fan...

At least we are sticking to green and yellow, that's all I care to comment about this topic. Just focus on playing ball and minimize distractions!
