  1. This guy make a great point. Just make sure to read his whole post. “Champions miss, the great ones fix it”.
  2. That happened with very competent OC/QB Coaches in Dillingham and Stein. From what I’ve seen this season, Merringer and Ka’ai would just make him worse. Furthermore, why would I want a QB like Underwood when I already have Smith Jr. on my roster?
  3. Let him have the first series. Raiola would technically be coming off the bench after that.
  4. He still needs to start the next game if Dante can’t play. Raiola is much better coming out of the bullpen.
  5. I made mention to a fellow duck fan at work that this was the most 'Helfrich' loss I've seen since Helfrich was coach.
  6. The NFL is filled with teams and players who stink it up on a weekly basis. One good example is a former Duck QB who earns eight figures annually.
  7. Fan confidence is the least of Lanning’s worries. If his players lose confidence they’ll quit playing hard for him and his staff. This week’s Nebraska game is a good litmus test. If they get dominated (which is a huge possibility) then we will know he has lost his team. That’s when he needs to start making wholesale changes. Better to get his big recruits valuable experience than lose them to the portal. As it stands, the vultures are starting to circle above the football facility waiting to pick off the likes of Moore, Lott, Nacho, Jett and McNutt to name a few.
  8. This is going to sound crazy, but I would rather have his understudy, Jerry Neuheisel. He's young, he has some experience with play calling and he's a good QB coach.
  9. Kind of an underwhelming game, but the best one in this time slot.
  10. USC has made a great number of untimely bad hires. I say untimely because Kiffin and Sark have done well since they were dismissed, but weren’t ready for USC at their respective times. USC is only one hire away from being great again, but they will never have a run like they did in the 2000’s. So, they rely in gimmicks like the juice boxes thinking that it’s good enough to prop themselves up until Oregon fades into obscurity. However, Oregon won’t fade like Beavis because they don’t have to rely on other programs to carry them. They will always be a step ahead in facilities, uniforms, marketing, etc. Autzen Stadium is no longer the grassy hill with bleachers carved into it. The old gravel parking lots have been replaced by mausoleums. The Ducks have deep pockets and are a national brand. Kids don’t care about “zero natty’s” because they all feel they can get the first one. If haters think that Phil Knight’s mortality will change the Duck’s fortunes then they don’t have a clue. Oregon is here to stay and will always have one of the biggest stacks of chips on the table.
  11. I’ve seen this type of hit play out in college football for many years. In every instance but this one, the defensive player had a dejected look on his face because he knew he had to go sit on the sidelines and not play football with his teammates. This is the first time I’ve seen a player celebrate and be fine with sitting on the bench for 3 quarters. He acted no different than a man who was going to receive a bounty payment. The only way this jagoff could’ve been more tone deaf is if he wore number 32 and brown leather gloves.
  12. He’s automatically down in the NFL as well. The reason is they don’t want defenders to even think about touching the QB on a slide.
  13. He did end up going for the throat with that 4th down conversion on their last TD drive. Raiola made a great throw to Stewart and we all watched any sense of hope leave the USuC team.
  14. Brian Kelly is expected to be named the new USC head coach.
  15. My concern with Dante is that he has not been very composed when the pocket is collapsing around him. Will this injury exacerbate his lack of poise? It certainly won’t help it and he will likely continue to take the safe outlet pass. I’m quite sure he’s done running upfield. On the other hand, Raiola did well to sling the ball with pressure in his face. On Dakorian Moore’s TD the LT got driven into his lap and he still got the ball off. I have to think Dante bails on that play and throw to a different receiver. It may not matter. Dante suffered what looked like a pretty significant concussion. The lingering effects can last for weeks, if not months. My guess is four to six weeks at a minimum. DL will likely look out for his future (as he already mentioned) knowing he has a guy like Raiola taking the reins.
  16. From the looks of the jersey the theme is Party City.
  17. He explains it in his X post. I always thought diving to the side of the defender would be a safer play, however it could lead to more shoulder injuries if not done correctly. CFB is a little better than the NFL in that once the player is down he can’t be hit.
  18. It has apparently been leaked earlier this year by Dick’s Sporting Goods.
  19. Former Cal QB Nate Longshore brings up an interesting topic. When a QB slides he’s trusting the defense to follow the rules. While most defenders let up, those who don’t seriously injure the QB more often than not. This is the third Duck game I’ve seen where a sliding QB was injured by the defender. One was our DB knocking the opposing QB out and the other was Vernon Adams against EWU.
  20. I love this article. There is something to be said for experience. How well does Chip Kelly do without Aliotti, Campbell, Greatwood, and the rest of his inherited staff? Does Dabo win two natty’s without Venables? Kirby won his championships with Monken as his OC, but hasn’t had great results since he left. Ryan Day needed an injection of Chip Kelly’s offensive play calling to break through. The fact is young head coaches thrive when they have experienced coordinators. I think Tosh helped DL achieve the success Oregon had early in his tenure. DL had actually worked for him at Bama. Guys like Saban and Cignetti were highly experienced before they won their championships. Ed O had been around the block as well. Could DL win it all this year with a young, inexperienced staff? Sure, although I don't think it's likely. I still think they can make the playoff.
  21. Ducks 34-21 1 Turnover 1 Sack 297 Pass Yards.
  22. Exactly! For all of the griping that Notre Dame did last season for being left out of the playoffs, they didn’t have a single win against a team that finished the season ranked in the top 25. Teams need all the ranked wins they can get.
  23. This win against Boise State will likely count as a win against a ranked opponent by season’s end. Looking at Oregon’s schedule, they have only three ranked opponents left on the schedule. Of course, that may change by season’s end. They will want those ranked wins at the end of the season when they’re being measured against other teams for playoff spots.
  24. You can blame The Mouse. They base everything off of Eastern Time. ESPN is carrying the game so they put it in their 12:00 ET window. Disney merged ESPN and ABC Sport into one division and since ESPN produces sports on ABC they didn’t want it to overlap with Bama/UK at 3:30 ET or Texas/Ohio State at 7:30 ET. They consider the 3:30 and 7:30 windows as their prime slots, so they schedule their best matchups there. They did schedule the A&M game at noon on ABC, so they (and ASU) also get an early start in College Station. I guess they don’t mind the overlap in the noon window because it’s not prime viewing time.
