I agree with the above. Kelly Graves decided a one year rental driving off a promising underclassman isn't a good way to build a cohesive, consistent program and I believe the same holds true for football.

If we go to the B1G...then the travel sucks, we won't win as many games, but we will have more prestige and money to stay relevant for the top recruits. Aren't "we won't win as many games" and "stay relevant for the top recruits" diametrically opposed?

Fight fire with fire. Move to completely revamp the college football landscape by forming a new Division 1-A. Accept the fact that only 10-12 institutions currently have a realistic shot at the Natty and let them go play with themselves. Raid the B1G and the SEC, take Northwestern, take Nebraska, Ole Miss, Missouri, Minnesota, etc. and set up leagues based on geography. Put them in a position to actually contend for a title. Carving off the “also-ran” schools from the B1G and the SEC will basically destroy their media rights value while enhancing the D-1A members income. Division 1-A can set their own rules governing pay to play and transfers, all the ills we foresee leading to the demise of college football. Simple rough format, ten leagues with ten members each. 100 of the 125 D-1 schools. You still have a possible Clemson-Oregon championship match up, maybe a Baylor-Florida State. A much wider range than the current Alabama vs ?. Some will decry that it isn't football at the highest level. So what? The excitement of college football is the 'any given Saturday' aspect. Going back to a level playing field would be a welcome relief. As a wise poster stated in another thread bring back history and tradition.

Traveling across multiple time zones every other week makes winning much more difficult. We didn't make the playoffs very often as it was, in the B1G it will be less.

"while always putting our student-athletes first" is why they more than doubled the flight time for away games, gives them more time to study. Nothing says your important more than 8-10 hours on a plane every other week.

I guess I don't understand the new math. Reports put the B1G potential media rights at $1 billion, the same reports ballpark each of the existing 14 members will receive $100 million. Not sure how that works. Even more confusing is by adding at least two and possibly four (or more) institutions the distribution will remain the same $100 million. Will Fox suddenly decide to pay $2 billion for an expanded advertising base? Wouldn't that indicate another entity (say a PAC-12/Big12 merger) might also have access to that additional billion dollars? If Fox doesn't double their payout how does a billion dollars split 18 ways equal $100 million each?

I quit reading in the first paragraph when he referenced the West Coast Conference is in a frenzy looking to expand. Isn't it the Pac-12 talking about expansion, not the WCC? If you can't get the basics right........

If so the number of eyeballs is skewed by the pathetic arrangement network engineered by Larry Scott. For example in 2020 the Pac-12 network had 14.8 million subscribers, the SEC and B1G reportedly had over 50 million. Didn't find numbers for the Big 12 but I'm certain they are better than the Pac.

Games will need to be 4-5 hours long to allow for all the commercials. I will set the DVR and quit watching live. Not sure it is a financially sustainable model.

Echo's of the breakup of the Pacific Coast Conference. Oregon became independent and actually did fairly well until it rejoined what became the Pac-8 in the mid-60's.

Initial guess is this is a power move to change revenue sharing in the Pac. They have the best location so of course they should get the most money, at least that is what their selfish little minds think. If they can't dominate a weakened Pac-12 how will they fare against THE OSU, Michigan, etc.
