Tom Brady is Coming Back to Tampa Bay Next Season
Much like the stupid money being thrown about with NIL deals this didn't turn out to be a good investment. The football Brady used to throw his final touchdown pass was auctioned off for $518,000, ESPN’s Jenna Laine reports. The starting bid was $100,000 and a total of 23 people put bids in for the ball.

Rumored $8 Million NIL Deal for 5-Star QB Recruit
Anybody believe this? 11. What is prohibited under the new policy? Subject to state law, the following is prohibited under the new interim policy: • NIL agreement without quid pro quo (e.g., compensation for work not performed). • NIL compensation contingent upon enrollment at a particular school. • Compensation for athletic participation or achievement. Athletic performance may enhance a student-athlete’s NIL value, but athletic performance may not be the “consideration” for NIL compensation. • Institutions providing compensation in exchange for the use of a student-athlete’s name, image or likeness.

Rumored $8 Million NIL Deal for 5-Star QB Recruit
Another Pac-12 assistant said he’s worried about the future of college football. “Disheartening, really,” the coach said. “College football will never be the same, and I believe you will see some good men get out of the profession if it isn’t cleaned up or regulated.” Reported multimillion NIL deal rocks college football recruiting world WWW.ON3.COM A report says a five-star recruit has signed a multimillion NIL deal. Coaches say the deal would be a game-changer, and not in a good way.

Rumored $8 Million NIL Deal for 5-Star QB Recruit
Stuart Mandel in The Atlantic. The article is behind a paywall but the first few paragraphs are available and worth reading. Speculation is Nico Iamalelva Jr, who recruiting services had trending towards the Ducks, will be heading to Knoxvill, TN rather than Eugene. All conjecture at this point in time but indicative of the disaster facing college football. Five-star recruit in Class of 2023 signs agreement with... THEATHLETIC.COM Two NIL experts The Athletic spoke to believe this deal is the largest individual NIL deal signed by a non-professional athlete.

Oregon Football Opens Spring Practice (Pictures!)
No pictures including Jay Butterfield, he must be paired up with the walk on. Thought I saw a comment he didn't throw well yesterday, not a good sign.

Add a Blue Chip LB to the Weekend Slate
No. 5 LB, top 50 overall on 247 rankings. Jaiden Ausberry from Louisiana.

Add Jayden Wayne to the List
My guess is the start of spring practice. The second session is scheduled for Saturday which means the visitors will be around the entire team and coaching staff.

Canzano Leaves Oregonian
I decided to sign up for his free newsletter. For what it is worth the excerpt below relates to OBD's I'm buying what Jonathan Smith is selling at OSU. Also, I disagree with those who think Lanning is a hired gun who might ditch Eugene at the first sign of an SEC job. After talking with him recently I believe we may get to watch Lanning's three young sons grow up in Oregon.

Canzano Leaves Oregonian
I wonder what happened behind the scenes. A remarkably terse statement that a nationally known twenty year employee has already left implies friction somewhere. Inquiring minds want to know.

Red Flags are Flying on Kayvon Thibodeaux
No question his future earnings will probably be negatively impacted, the question is does it matter to him and what he wants out of life? Decades ago I worked for a Fortune 100 company with an office in Eugene. With the office scheduled for closure I was offered a traveling auditor position (I'm an operations guy) which would have led to basically writing my own ticket after a couple years on the road. I declined and have never regretted that decision for a moment. True, my retirement is a fraction of what it could have been but I'm content and comfortable. My impression is KT has aspirations beyond football, that it is just a means to an end. I hope at the end of the day he considers himself successful.

Red Flags are Flying on Kayvon Thibodeaux
Does he really? Reportedly he made well into six figures from NIL this past year. A top 20 draft pick will get him another $12+ million. Even if he washes out he walks away (pain free) with a sizable bank account and most of his brain cells still intact.

Wow...Dana Said WHAT?
Maybe when your background is promoting women's tennis a network with 10-15 million subscribers is deemed a smash hit. Probably good enough to think you should be paid millions per year while you spend your days in an expensive office patting yourself on the back. I'm not sure the stain of Larry Scott can ever be completely erased.

Moorhead Took a Massive Pay Cut to Leave Oregon.
Interesting move. Akron: Sources tell FootballScoop Tim Tibesar is expected to be named defensive coordinator at Akron. Tibesar served as defensive coordinator at Oregon State the past four seasons. Pete Thamel has reported the same.

MBB: WSU has a Great Seniors Day, Routs Oregon 94-74
Not watching the game but I checked the box score, down 20, less than 5 minutes to go, and only eight players have stats? I understand Richardson is out but 14 players have logged minutes this year. Shades of Mario, don't play the reserves. Five players haven't seen the floor this game---why?

Graves: "I Did a Terrible Job of Coaching"
I can't be sure but I think Kelly Graves is upset with the officials. Random quotes from the article... Obviously lost my cool late. I can't comment, of course, on the reasons why because some people are protected. I didn't say anything. Didn't say a thing. There you go. That gets you a T these days. Well, you and I can talk off the record. I, of course, can't say anything because of the rules. So I can't say anything. But you and I, we live in the same hometown. We can have a beer sometime and talk about it. You watched the game. I guess I gestured in the wrong way, breathed in the wrong way, something to that extent. And they made us pay. They got the -- I think the 3 from the 3-point shot. They made all those. One of the technicals. And then their basketball.

No, this group is not enjoyable to watch. Maybe next year there will be a team.

Mens Basketball: Should They Accept an NIT Bid?
As much as I would like to see the underclassmen get minutes I think accepting post season and then benching the starters is probably bad for team moral and chemistry.
