  1. The problem with Boise State is that they pretty consistently have a very good football team. We've played them 5 times in the last 18 years with an average point differential of 7: 2008 - UO loss. BSU ends season ranked #11 2009 - UO loss. BSU ends season ranked #4 2017 - UO loss (because it was the Taggert year). BSU ends season ranked #22 2024 - UO wins. BSU ends season ranked #8 2026 - UO wins. My prediction is that BSU ends the season ranked Top-10. Those Broncos were tackling machines this past Saturday. I expect BSU to run the table through their regular season schedule and end up being ranked in the Top-10 again by the end of the season. Our 7-point win will only look better and better as the season progresses.
  2. Yikes! What a great reminder. That was just such a fabulous game. It was such a great game that I remember that me and Mrs Desert Duck watched the second half in a bar in Sedona.
  3. Excellent article. Thank you. If our O Line figures it out and can give DM a little time, we will be making a lot of teams pay with 25+ yard strikes downfield this season.
  4. Money & exposure are always good things... but not so wonderful unless you win. Hopefully, in the next few days, our defense can figure it out, and our O line can protect DM better. And I'm still betting that BSU is a Top-15 team.
  5. "To the fan, does the start time really matter?" As a fan, of course I couldn't care less what time the game starts. But I'm not the one down on the field playing football. And I could be making a issue out of a molehill. Perhaps a 9:00 AM body clock start time doesn't impact players. But I remember the last year when we had a 9:00 AM start against an average at best Northwestern, and if I recall correctly, we struggled. I realize that is completely anecdotal, but I'm curious. When I get a little time, I'll do some research and look at teams over the last 10 years that played 1) On the road, 2) Games that started at 9 AM according to their body clock, and then I'll share the data.
  6. I'm guessing that this subject has been discussed at length, but does anyone know who the braintrust is who schedules these start times... and why a consistently Top-10 team tolerates it?
  7. That is one of the more spectacular screw jobs I have seen in quite some time.
  8. This guy is one dumb son of biscuit. "The same Boise State that two years ago arrived in Eugene for the season opener..." -- and he basically said that we sucked in that game. For some reason, this schmuck forgot to mention that BSU ended the 2024 season ranked #8 in the nation. Bottom-line is that I won't be remotely surprised if BSU ends up in the Top 10 again by the end of the season.
  9. In 2024, we played an unranked BSU team at home and beat them by what looked like, at the time, an embarrassing 3 points. By the end of the season, BSU finished ranked #8 in the nation. While we played less than stellar today, that BSU team we saw out there is the real deal. I'm guessing BSU might already actually be a Top-10 team, but once again, we just don't know it yet.
  10. We were ranked #2. BSU was ranked #28. How far do we fall, and how high will BSU rise?
  11. Dante is having a Heisman day. 28/37. 378 yards. 3 TDs.
  12. My only hope is that Boise State is actually a Top-5 team in disguise. Excellent edit, and I appreciate how you felt. But on that last drive, DM looked pretty great. His stat line so far looks excellent as well.
  13. You know... I'm thinking my 'all-in' prediction of 57-23 might have been "just a bit outside."
  14. I'm rooting for you to win today's score contest!
  15. Good Opening Oregon Football Day, Everybody! I think OBD are due to just open a big 'ol can of whoop butt on the Shetland's... kind of like what we did to Colorado a couple years ago. BSU... Nemesis no more. It's time to go big, or go home. Oregon 57-23 3 3 321
  16. I will forever be grateful to Chip Kelly and what he did/brought to Oregon, including a 46-7 / 87% winning record, and 4 years and 4 BCS games -- including playing and nearly winning the NCG. Yes, he walked into a program that was primed and ready, but he also did some rather revolutionary things to college football, which elevated the talent he had to rather exceptional heights. I couldn't care less what Chip's done, or perhaps more arguably, hasn't done since leaving Oregon. Chip was an insane ride like we had never-ever seen at Oregon. And now, Coach Lanning is delivering insane winning numbers, and so far holds the exact same winning percentage as Chip at 87%. But I think the difference is that Dan is building a program that is sustainable at a crazy-high level, that can compete year in and year out with the big dogs of college football. Finally, Dante was at UCLA for one year in 2023. That was Chip's last year at UCLA as well. I'd like to think that maybe Chip sucking it at UCLA so badly indirectly helped push Dante out of UCLA and up to Eugene ;-) . Regardless, how fortunate are we that the kid chose to come our way!
  17. What was the reason for raising the railing?
  18. "We're from the government, and we're here to help." Always words of comfort.
  19. Thanks so much, Charles. And I hope got a great premium for fishduck.com. See you at the new forum domain.
  20. Dear SantaRosaDuck -- 80 years old and crushing it! Way to go and way to take as much control of your health as possible. Your comments and experience are truly inspiring & just so encouraging. And your 5 keys/points to longevity absolutely nail it. I think the one aspect out of the five that especially surprises people is how critical sleep is to our overall health. It's only been in the last 5 years that I've come to learn this. I used to view sleep as an inconvenience as I just had no idea regarding the healing powers that take place when we consistently get 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night. And that is something that doesn't cost us a penny and the return is off the charts amazing. For those interested in learning more, Stanford's Andrew Huberman has an fabulous podcast and has done a few episodes on sleep. One of my favorites is with sleep expert Matthew Walker, PhD, who has an excellent book out titled, "Why We Sleep." Best wishes to all for a long and healthy Duck life! GO DUCKS!!
  21. Dr. EastBayDuckDad -- Thanks so much for your excellent comments that come from direct experience not only as a person, but as a surgeon. Yes to everything you shared. I will say, however, that my calcium score came out pretty healthy, even though I had major league problems going on. But most people I know who've had the calcium test done, have had a very accurate score. And, as you pointed out, the test is quite affordable. But, that non-invasive, 60 minute, cardiac stress test is awfully thorough, even though it's more expensive. I just cannot recommend it enough, if a person has the resources to pay for it. About 3 years ago, my super health younger brother had a massive Widowmaker and immediately died. I know you would agree that especially if cardiac disease runs in a person's family, don't screw around. Do yourself, your wife, your family, and your friends a favor and get tested, and get healthy again. As Charles is also pointing out, we have way more control regarding being healthy than most of us choose to believe.
  22. Thanks Charles for a beautiful and heartfelt tribute to 30Duck. I never knew why '30Duck' was his moniker until today. Knowing that great Ronnie Lee was the impetus behind it, for me, only makes his name all the better. Charles -- You mentioned that you thought his passing may likely be due to a heart issue. As someone who out of nowhere found himself having triple-bypass open-heart surgery about 15 months ago, I've kind of become a major league evangelist in encouraging those of us over 50 (men & women), to get a simple, non-invasive, cardiac stress test -- especially if cardiac issues run in your family. Prior to my cardiac stress test, I had absolutely no idea that I had any sort of a heart issue. Then I found out I had 90% blockage in two of the three main arteries to the heart, and 70% in the other one. At that time, I was truly a dead man walking. And while it is still, of course, major surgery, the medical industry really has this stuff down. I got a new lease on life and I'm probably good to go for another 30 years (well... that would put me at 94, so something else will probably get me before then 😅). Sorry to go off on this, but there's so much that can be done today, if we find out we have a problem. Thanks again, Charles, for sharing. My condolences to you, to his family, and other friends.
