Move the Goalpost: Who Changed Your Opinion Most?
Rich Brooks had the vision for improving the facilities and he sold it. Back then our only chance at 4-5* athletes was to pull them out of California and he lobbied hard for better facilities to impress the recruits. If I'm remembering correctly, the weight room back then was stuck in Mac Court. Uggh. That said Bellotti was the first coach to make the Ducks competitive on a national level, so he would get my vote. He was robbed of championship appearances twice and during the Joey years the program achieved its highest ever ranking at #2 after throttling Colorado. Chip had the flash to be sure, but he got the keys to an Indy car ready to race. Love the Chip years, but he didn't ELEVATE the program (except national attention) to the extent thay MB did. Helfie is a tough one, you can't ignore the Heisman Trophy or an appearnace in the very first CFP natty. He'll get a lot of the blame for the program's tumble but part of that is on Mullens for not paying for a top level DC when we desperately needed one. Love Don Pellum, but he wasn't the guy sorry and Hoke was a joke as a DC. Slick Willie and Mario helped the program somewhat inadvertently IMHO. They took our recruiting chops to another level then left the progum to someone who's the whole package, albeit still learning game-day coaching. When it's said and done I think DL will be the most successful coach in Oregon history.

Canzano: Oregon Harmed Oregon State in a Consequential Way
This is a ridiculous take. "Harm" infers malice and UO has made a significant effort (at substantial cost I might add) to soften the blow by rearranging the schedule to include the rodents for the next two years. Are they collateral damage? Sure, but they bear a significant amount of the blame for their own lack of marketability since both schools reside in the same media market. The current realignment phase is just plain ugly to be sure, but sorry little brother it's time to sink or swim on the merits of your own program, not the national brand down the road.

Report: College Football Rosters Could Be Trimmed to 85-95 Players Under New Proposal
I guess this was bound to happen, everything about the sport as we know it is changing. One of the more cherished aspects of the sport is the "feel good" story of a walk-on being awarded a scholarship. It's too bad, but you can't expect the bean counters to pay extra revenue shares if they don't have to.

College Football - Is Another B1G (and SEC) Change on the Way?
I concur. It's a bit of a cliche, but the cream always does rise to the top. Free market adjustments are rarely "equitable" and those relegated to lower tiers and consequent reduced income can scream all they want, but the B1G/SEC (and their broadcast partners) are calling the shots going forward. I still hate the way this all came down, but as predicted the OBD have landed on our webbed feet. The remaining blue bloods in the ACC are in the process of leaving (the Big 12 is already bereft of same) and even ND will most likely have to give up their exhalted independence to stay relevant. In addition it's only a matter of time before a highly ranked B1G or SEC team gets bumped by a Liberty or UTSA for a spot in the playoff and the next axe will fall.

Should Oregon Play Osu Every Season?
Well Jon, I'm no lawyer but it does seem to me that the "settlement" goes beyond the terms of separation as laid out in the contract. This leads me to believe that the 10 ex-pats just wanted a clean out without further litigation. Another consideratioin may be to assuage the consciences of the institutions that collectively buried a century's worth of tradtion in favor of the almighty dollar. Regardless, what's done is done, it's not going to change and the future for OMD is very bright.

Should Oregon Play Osu Every Season?
Call me old school, I've lived in this state my whole life and I feel the Civil War still means something. Do we have anything to gain by playing the barkrats? Hell yes, bragging rights for a year! We'll get plenty of recruiting exposure with our B1G schedule and whomever we schedule for our "premier" out-of-conference opponent. We currently play a mid-major annually and it might as well be the rodents because that's what they're now relegated to. I get it, there's a lot of P2 bitterness right now, 5 years from now no one will care. We'll be established in a Power 2 conference and our annual take will dwarf whatever the Biebers can come up with in the new MWC or whatever becomes of the P2. The P12 contract was written to include harsh penalties for those who leave the conference. We left, we're paying the penalty, but we're in a great spot for the long game. As my late father said when I was going through my divorce, "Keep your mouth shut and take the win". Some of the best advice I ever got.

ESPN Extends Exclusive Playoff Broadcast Rights
What a laugher, no way ESPN pulls out of the CFP. I wish they would though, I'd love to see the ESPN stranglehold broken up and it's not like there won't be other suitors.

Please: End the Wave at Autzen
Yep should be banned, along with "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Sweet Caroline".🤮

SEC, Big Ten Set Up Joint Advisory Group to Tackle Mounting Issues in College Football
Shot across the bow? More like an armed nuclear warhead.

If You Ain't Cheatin' You Ain't Tryin'!
I'm sure the SEC honks got a real chuckle when Chip paid Willie Lyles with a check.🤣

The Survey for Possible Upgrades at Autzen
I agree, a reasonable increase would be acceptable to me, but $1000-$3000 per ticket for some of these premiums? Not happening.

3 Oregon Football Players Who Should Be Replaced In 2024
First of all terrible analysis, secondly why even go this route? These are not professional athletes, they shouldn't be held to the same standard. Boettcher is a walk-on for criminy sakes, he's an overachiever and he gets dissed? Lame.
-
The Survey for Possible Upgrades at Autzen
Yeah Annie I filled it out, most of the options were way more than I'm willing to pay. We're on the north end and restrooms/concessions are pretty bad. As I responded, I don't feel like we should have to pay extra for facilities comparable to the south end. I guess we all know (or at least suspect) that prices are going up again at some point, I just hope long-time rank and file season ticket holders don't get priced out.

BREAKING: Oregon Cornerbacks Coach Demetrice Martin to Take Job at Michigan State
This one's a bit of a head-scratcher to me. Sure a DC job with MSU would make career sense, but a lateral move as CB coach? I can't imagine the draw of his alma mater is that strong, especially since we're loaded and MSU is in rebuild mode. Could this possibly be Lanning giving him the nudge?
-
Nick Saban is Retiring!
Well the good news is that if he doesn't take this job we can feel pretty secure about his loyalty going forward. Here I though it was going to be a boring off-season and we still haven't heard what Harbaugh is doing.
-
Nick Saban is Retiring!
I think this has legs. I'm sure Nicky wanted to go out with another natty, but regardless he's still the GOAT. The timing fits, he's getting older and NIL and the portal are completely changing the game. Not saying he can't rebrand himself, but he really doesn't have anything left to prove at this point. I guess we'll see soon enough if DL was blowing smoke regarding his longevity in Eugene. Hoping for the best, but he's obviously on the short list, probably the main target. That's what Vegas says anyway and they do their homework, although I'm a bit surprised that Kiffen and Sark aren't listed on the current odds sheet.

Putting Lanning’s Second Year into Perspective
First of all, I'm a DL fan and I absolutely think we've got the right guy, but to quote Bill Parcels, "Let's put away the annointing oil". We routinely bad mouth Cristobal (myself included), but he had a winning record in rivalry games, won the conference, the Rose Bowl and beat tOSU in the Shoe. What's DL's biggest win? Sure 2-0 in bowl games but against an unranked UNC team and a badly overmatched Liberty. Yes we've beaten up on some decent teams including USC, Utah and the rodents, but where's the big win? The best team we've played we lost to twice. Next season we play Michigan, tOSU and the fuskies, not to mention a few teams that can trip us up if we let our guard down. We'll find out soon enough if he can win the big one.

CFP National Championship Postgame Discussion
Always warms my cockles to see the fuskies lose!🤣

I Am Rooting for the Huskies
A fusky win just makes us little brother of the NW. Frick that. Won't do a thing to change East Coast/SEC bias (well Georgia would have beaten them both blah blah blah). Grudging respect for Penix and Deboer, at least they're not Huard or New-Weasel or Lame-Fright. Still wouldn't make me pull for them if you put a gun to my head. Now ask me how I really feel ha ha.
-
Michigan vs. Washington CFP Championship Pre-game Discussion
Yeah that. Never ever ever root for the fuskies unless a win somehow benefits us. In this case it clearly doesn't. Sure I feel a little bile coming up pulling for a cheater like Harbaugh, but not nearly as much as a fusky fanbase with a real natty under their belt.

Canzano Has Gone Completely Wacko: 'Pac-12 Fans AGREE OSU & WSU Should Be in Control'
I was pretty shocked when I read that. This really hurts his credibility in my book, I wonder where he finds these supposed Pac-12 "fans" that feel this way. Controlling the direction of the conference is one thing, taking all the proceeds earned by the 10 departing teams is another. Seems to me he's just making stuff up, either that or he's just completely tone deaf. I never would pay for his content anyway but I just unsubscribed to his free stuff.

Bitter Beaver: Oregon is to Blame for Oregon State's Decline
Personally I'm glad it's still on. Granted it won't be the same as before, but what is in college football going forward? As for the money grab, we would have done the same thing in their shoes. Besides, this isn't going to fly once you get it out of an eastern Washington courtroom IMHO. At some point cooler heads will prevail and a negotiated settlement for the distribution of P12 assets will be reached and we can all move on.

NCAA Proposes New Top-Tier Subdivision for Football
Bit of a disagreement here Jon, as I understand it third-party NIL deals cannot make the player contractually obligated to play for a specific school. There's all kinds of gray area in the current NIL environment; players have had their deals revoked and conversely there is no real protection for the schools if a player bails. Why not get it all out into the open and let the schools negotiate directly with the athletes for NIL deals tied to playing? If a player can negotiate another side deal with Dr. Pepper or Google Shop, then more power to them.
