It Should Be Bombs Away for the Ducks
Early in his tenure here, Stein said that he likes to go deep twice a quarter. Though 2 (no more, no less) is not a hard and fast rule, we've come real close to seeing that through 2 games. 8 deep shots in a game is more than the average bear puts up. (Yogi reference) 1st and 10 and 2nd and short are the most likely times to see such shots.

Tough Decisions for Wilner and Canzano...and Us?
Wilner has already said that he is and always has reported on the West Coast teams (west of the Rockies). He said that he only recently took on the PAC 12 name, and that he will be back to reporting on the West.

Game Day Games of Interest
I didn´t think it was defensive pass interference because it looked to me like the offensive player initiated the contact. After that, they were both just going for the ball.

Oregon State, Washington State File Complaint Against Pac-12 and George Kliavkoff
"One option has always been to use the financial assets, infrastructure and strong brand of the Pac-12 as a lure to invite the 12 Mountain West schools into the league for some type of amicable merger." This, to me, seems the best option for OSU and WSU.

Thoughts on Ty Thompson
No pressure on him just because his team is up by 60??? I'd say he had all kinds of pressure. The fans have been talking down on him for two years. If he can't even perform against a team that is down 60 points he is totally done. That's pressure. There are 50,000 people in the stands and over a million more on TV - that's pressure. If he wasn't feeling any pressure it is because of far superior coaching from Will Stein - which I believe he got. Certainly after his first run - and hit - TT was looking comfortable. He did well. I think WS will continue to keep him on a good path.

Thoughts on Ty Thompson
Count me as a Will Stein fan also... as QB coach. Not only did we see improvement in TT, but Novosad was night and day better than what we saw in the Spring Game. Granted Novosad only had the spring back then, but still, he looked confident and put the ball where it needed to be last Saturday. If TT and AN continue to improve throughout the season, with several opportunities to contribute, and if Will Stein stays with the Ducks for a few years, then we can put to rest the idea that the Ducks will need to continue to poach the Portal for its starting QBs. We want to recruit good QBs out of high school and develop them into D1 superstars.

Wowsa: Why Jerry Allen is NOT Retiring from Broadcasting the Ducks...
Husky fans visiting Autzen will have to listen to that voice as long as Autzen is standing: "Wheaton's gonna score! Kenny Wheaton's gonna score!" --- Poor Husky fans.

What Can We Learn From a Game Against PSU?
Yes, I want to see a dominant Defense. Besides that I want to see the O-line jelling. While I expect to see a lot of substitutions, I expect to see fewer on the O-line through the first 3 quarters because one week later they will need to be good, especially in communication and working as a unit. This will also be the only reason we may well see BOdacious in the second half. This will be the last "scrimmage" before going up against a real challenge. Things have to be clicking.

Colorado's Travis Hunter Responses to Lanning's Comment
I don´t think conference matters to him. Look at what conference Prime recruited him to as the #1 in his class. I imagine that Prime got him to commit by promising him to personally coach him everything he knows about being a shutdown corner. You don't have to be on TV to get to the NFL. You only have to be good. The NFL will find you. Prime must have kept that promise because DH followed him to Colorado. And, as Tandaian pointed out above, Prime got another 5* CB to commit to him in the '23 class... probably with the same promise. "We comin"? He didn't say when. They are starting that journey this year. We will see how far they come.

Flowe at Arizona: A Struggle to Play Under Control
Flowe suffered a HUGE setback in his first two years at Oregon. Their true freshmen year, while Sewell was showing great promise, but overrunning a lot of plays (making a bunch of freshman mistakes), Flowe was sitting on the sideline all year, injured in the first game. Their true sophomore year, while Sewell had mostly learned his lesson the year before and was having a breakout performance, Flowe was again sitting on the sideline all year, injured in the first game. In their true Junior year, while Sewell was cementing his draft stock, Flowe finally could play all year, but was making all the stupid freshman mistakes that Sewell did in his freshman year. Learn from your mistakes, settle down, and have a great year at Arizona... And thank you for investing three years of your life at Oregon. Hopefully, it helped you grow.

Why Does Week 0 Have to Suck this Bad???
There is a reason they call it "0".

How does Oregon's Recruiting Prowess Compare to Best of the Best in Big Ten?
People have been pumping this idea, but I think we are somewhat mistaken here. Fox still needs to cover the late night slot with a game. With 4 teams on the pacific coast, the games between them (and some people are hoping for 3 a year), those teams naturally will fit into the latest slot - unless it becomes a big important game to the rest of the country and Fox (or whoever) has another game they can schedule into the late spot. Hence we we may still have 2 games a year in the "After Dark" category -- probably more if we have a couple of perceived patsies OOC. I hope I am wrong.

Fall Camp: Day 16 Practice
The second part of a proverb says, "He swears to tell the truth, but reveals nothing." I think that's hilarious. It's true in so many areas of life. It's amazing how much a person can say, without lying, and still reveal nothing. Coach speech is an art, and practice makes perfect.
