  1. I'm so disappointed in the line play, both of them are just not very good. We don't pressure the QB, we don't shut down the run, and on the offensive side they simply can't run block, protection has been okay, but they aren't very athletic either. Huge props on that last throw, stood in and gave his receiver a chance.
  2. LBs have played much better so far. DL is obviously a part of that, but the LBs have been attacking
  3. Good stop, love the way Jackson read that fake reverse, then a good rush, and good DISCIPLINE to not hit the QB!
  4. Some good...some bad on that drive, I hope we can get the run game going, looks like we're committed to it.
  5. Sigh......I long for the day we play a clean game, the penalties are ridiculous.
  6. He looked like he might be more athletic, and I think that's something that we could really use with the struggles we have with the O-line. Everyone though needs to slow down since it was against a team that might have it's hands full against the best high school teams in Texas or Florida.
  7. Nice! Happy for you and the young women hoping to build her portfolio!
  8. Getting real tired with these penalties and dancing, it's undisciplined, and who cares that you're scoring, you're beating a team that's winless and is a bad FCS team, stop acting like you're back. Lanning should be lighting them up over this, could you imagine Cignetti or Saban allowing this.
  9. Yes, you can tell they're excited to play football. I was thinking one of the biggest things I want to see in this game is no penalties, play with purpose, play with discipline, play with energy.
  10. This could get very very very ugly. If I'm Lanning unfortunately for PSU I'm running up the score as much as I can. I'm not slowing down at all until half way into the 4th.
  11. That's who started, they've included some jumbo packages a couple times. PSU QB is limited to say the least from what it looks like.
  12. Of course, good start. A little frustrated that Dante didn't see the seam route again, but that's nitpicking to the extreme.
  13. I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to be the one to start this one, but I didn't see one, so I thought I would start it.
  14. Yeah, I would love to dream it into existence. I think the frustration is really comes from this program being the best program in America that has yet to win a national title, we've come so close...so many times...and every year the program hypes itself up, and then the fall flat on their face at some point. It doesn't help (at least for me) that Indiana just basically comes in and wins a title within 2 years of being relevant. Lanning's losses have been absolutely abysmal. Either he's getting blown out in games where he isn't even competitive, he's losing to a rival making bone headed coaching decisions, or now losing to a team that hasn't beaten a FBS team in 21 tries. There are ways to lose, and he's falling way short of them. I think the one loss where I felt okay was the Pac-12 championship game, at least there we showed some heart to try to come back, just got outplayed there. I appreciate the humor though Charles.
  15. I think you're right about MC, but with Lanning I wonder how involved he is with the defense, how much is he controlling what the game plan is, how much input does he give for play calls on defense. The defense has been the weaker link in all his teams, it should be his trading card. I wonder if he should have more direct control over it. I'm a bit concerned as well that LBs which should be the position that Lanning knows the most about have consistently been our worst unit on the team each year, this year of course it looks like the O-line. Our LBs are not near what they need to be to play this type of defense, you look at the LBs at Georgia during their championship years and they were 1st round talent, we haven't come near a first round talent...basically ever.
  16. I think it's a little of column A, a little of column B, you're right, the whole operation failed today, and it does start at the top. I do think the players need to be held accountable.
  17. He's had 4 years to learn when to go for it on 4th down, he still consistently gets it wrong, we haven't completed one I believe this year, that's atrocious, he isn't going to learn. I do think he still is the best guy for the job, because I don't think we can get better. I don't think anybody is advocating for Lanning to be looked at the end of this season, but it would be nice to see him realize he can't always be this aggressive, and I would also like to see him take over some responsibilities when it comes to defensive play-calling. He needs to own that side of the ball.
  18. I liked a few of them when they were new, but I don't watch a single one at this point, it's all fluff, it would be nice to actually care about the whole "bring a lunchpail". If I was Lanning I would strip the players this week of every perk they get. Have the meetings in some cafeteria on campus using the little school seats with the desks attached to them, make them change in the visiting locker room or even better make them go to student rec center, make them actually have to earn those perks back, but I'm sure it'll be business as usual, there won't be any consequences for this, they'll just complain that it was hot and it was early start.
  19. I don't care about the playoffs, I really don't at this point, I just want a winning season, that's how bad we look. I have so little confidence in the coaches at this point, they are consistently awful in preparation. We get by with talent, not with scheme or coaching.
  20. I'm sorry to say this, but I don't think Lanning is capable of winning the big one, he doesn't have a ruthless streak with his players or coaches. He doesn't hold players accountable for mental errors, he doesn't go after the best coordinators possible, he doesn't prepare for games like the best coaches do. He recruits very well, and he looks good on a hype video, but he continues to have his teams unprepared, he continues to make terrible in game decisions, and he continues to rely on talent instead of getting the best out of his players.
  21. Running all over us, this is horrible. Commentator is right, we're just sleep walking out there. How many yards are we going give up? 500? Ducks should be embarrassed right now.
  22. No, it was a lucky play, doesn't mean that the team is not ready to play AGAIN!
