Urgent: Dan Lanning Needs to Protect Dante Moore
For this Mariners fan growing up in the 90s it was sweet Lou Piniella. One thing I love about baseball are the blowups by the managers, it isn't something that should actually be celebrated since it's awful behavior letting an adult act like a 3 year old having a tantrum, but all the great ejections are legendary, from kicking caps, drawing lines on the dirt, to literally stealing first base like Lloyd McClendon did. For what the article was about, it is definitely something to consider, Indiana has been one of the least penalized teams, but if they start pushing off or hitting the QB late, it's something that Lanning should be in the ear of the officials about.

(Former) UW QB Demond Williams Entered the Transfer Portal
This has really gotten me worked up, part of it is the greed by the player, another is the underhanded nature of the program contacting Williams knowing that he has signed a contract, the fact that there are no rules at all against this sort of behavior, this then relates to the stupidity that is involved with the schedule of the playoffs and the portal. It is just so emblematic of all the problems with college sports right now. I really hope that Oregon isn't the program that enticed Williams (I don't think we are). It would make me lose a lot of respect for Lanning. No rules, everyone out for themselves, no loyalty, lying to the fans about how you love them and loved their support, "I have to do what is best for myself," no, you are just selfish and don't care one lick about anyone else but yourself, that goes for coaches as well that do this sort of baloney. All of this has trickled down to youth sports where you have adults manipulating leagues so that you get all the best kids on the same team, club sports are awful, high schools where you have kids transferring 4 times in 4 years. All of this is such a bad example of how we should live our lives as a community. I always thought that European sports were missing out on how great high school and college sports could be, but maybe they have it right by having high level youth sports operated by professional clubs, though knowing quite a bit about European football they have their own set of problems with regards to youth and young players. Depressing.

No, I agree with UW, you signed a contract? Welcome to the real world where you have to honor a contract or you have to pay compensation for breaking said contract. You don't get to sign and then sign with another team after they give you a better deal, that isn't how sports works. If UW and others don't hold players to contracts then the contract isn't really a contract.

Oregon Ducks Receive Rough Transfer News After Jordan Davison Injury
I think Hill and Whittington are good backs but neither of them bring the physicality that Davison does, it's a huge loss. We're also one injury away now from essentially having one RB available. Really hope Limar will stay since he might fit into being the fullback in the 2-1 personnel packages

Oregon Ducks Receive Rough Transfer News After Jordan Davison Injury
Always happens to us, something has to happen to ruin chances. Huge loss since Davison was the RB having the most success against Indiana last time. It also cripples our ability to use the 2 RB formations we've using to great affect. It's always us, Indiana deals with one injury the entire year while we have to deal with injury after injury.

Indiana Boasts Secret Weapon in Peach Bowl Rematch vs Oregon
I just want some Offensive PI calls, Indiana in their game against us was pushing off on those 8-12 yard out patterns all game long, hard to defend when the receiver is blatantly extending their arms in order to get open.

Early Enrollees
I'm not going to say it's impossible for that to have happened in the 1st quarter, but it seems highly unlikely that the medical staff would allow a player to play with a broken collarbone.

Austin Novasad to Transfer
I don't think it says anything about Dante, Novosad has had 3 years, if the coaches were telling him that he would need to fight for his job or that they intend to take a transfer than I'm pretty sure he would be transferring to somewhere where he has more assurance that he's going to play. It's been pretty obvious that this has been his plan all along.

"Poncho" Returning for 2026
I'm very very surprised by this, he's had two years as a starter, he's one of the top 3 centers in the country, he has to believe he would get drafted at least in day 2 of the draft. He must have a pretty good deal in NIL. Really shows that you have no idea who will return nowadays.

Oregon vs. Texas Tech Pregame Discussion
The offense has nothing to be disappointed about from Saturday, the defense should be ashamed about their performance, it was putrid in the second half, and the first half wasn't as good as the score would say. What this means for the Orange Bowl, probably not a whole lot. The defense has been good for most of the year, but it is concerning that they haven't shut down a good offense yet this season. It's a defense that has feasted on bad offenses, Indiana and USC were able to accomplish a lot, I don't think TT is as good as these offenses though. I still think we should win, but we have to be better on defense, we have to get more pressure, the run defense has to stiffen up, we have to better in every facet of the defense if we want to win the lot. I don't think we'll do it since we haven't been able to shut down a good offense yet, the offense is going to have to make up for it.

GAMEDAY! Oregon vs JMU: Let's Discuss!
The defense is simply not good enough, 400+ yards of offense, 26 points, getting confused all over the place, it's not acceptable and it doesn't give me confidence for the future. Looks like Lupoi is too focused on the new job. If I'm Lanning I'm furious at his players, himself, and most importantly the coaches, this is a C- performance at best for the D.

Good response after the trick play.

GAMEDAY! Oregon vs JMU: Let's Discuss!
Would be nice if the defense decided to do their job. How you don't anticipate that double throw is beyond me, completely obvious that it was coming. Way too many yards given up already.

Five Factors that Built Oregon Into a Recruiting Juggernaut
I don't think it was as much that he turned down the job as much as it is that it proved that he's going to stay here for a time. Recruits have known what Oregon is about for a while, but Lanning being very direct that he isn't going anywhere for the near future means that recruits probably feel more comfortable committing. This is especially true after having multiple coaches leave.

Bear Will Be Back in 2026
The magic of NIL, I would think Bear would have a good chance to be drafted in the middle rounds.

Lanning Sends a Strong Message by AVOIDING the Portal
Lanning has done enough to simply trust him on these decisions, if it doesn't work out then it's on him. I'm not that concerned really about Mehringer, I'm sure they all know what sort of coach he is, of course the one thing that is of a little concern is the play-calling, but you have to think he has impact on that this year if he's now being given the keys.

Michigan Fires Moore.
No idea who will take that job, no clue whatsoever. I'm sure the university would have rather this come out mid season than now since this means the recruiting class will be broken up and they don't even get the opportunity to go after the coaches that have now been hired. Kind of a nightmare for Michigan. Campbell would have been very good for them if he was still available.

Spoiled Brats: CFB's Biggest Babies
SEC, always talks about how tough the conference is, how they deserve everything due to record, yet they refuse to acknowledge that the record is sustain due to playing 8 conference games so that everyone gets an extra win on their record. Let's see how that goes when the conference is guaranteed an extra 8 losses. Kirby Smart is soft for saying it will destroy the league, if the league is so great they will be able to survive it and thrive. Notre Dame is a close second for thinking that they are so special that they don't have to be in a conference without suffering consequences at times. If they were in a conference then I would have more sympathy for them.

Rueck Prefers WBB Civil War Pause
I don't think it's a bad idea. Gonzaga is a bad example, they worked themselves into a position where they could take on those challenges, women's basketball is also very different, you see a lot less upsets in women's basketball, there just isn't the distribution of talent. There is a lot of upheaval at OSU, and it would be a good idea to pause the series until the Beavs get their feet under themselves again. I don't want to see that series become a joke like the football game is now. That's just my opinion.

Updated Playoff Bracket Post A&M Loss
I don't think Oregon should be ahead of A&M, A&M has a win over Notre Dame on the road, that alone should put them ahead of the Ducks, which would be fine with me since I want the number 6 slot.

Basketball Tournament Review
The 5 stars never do well in their first year here. Walker, Ware, Bittle, Evans all major disappointments in their first year. Bol Bol is the only one that actually looked like a top 25 freshman in his first year. Amazingly I think we miss Bamba, he was our best perimeter defender, he's tough, he can play bully ball, he took care of the basketball, Simpkins is a better scorer but a much much worse defender, he can't rebound and doesn't get to the rim well against these better teams. Last year's team had a ton of flaws, but they were experienced, Angel, Bamba, Barthelemy, Cook all multiyear starters, we now have a bunch of guys who either haven't played at this level, haven't been starters, or they've never played D1 basketball.

Basketball Tournament Review
Basically the team is very very average at best, a lot of guys who haven't improved and nobody who has come into the program who can be a difference maker. Our two best players can't play defense together on the pick and roll. Bittle isn't athletic enough to hedge out and Shelstad isn't big enough or quick enough to get around the screen. We really struggle to defend when those two are at the point of attack. Opposing guards killed us. I miss Dante.

Yikes! Oregon Beat by San Diego State 97-80
If the team doesn't improve massively this is Altman's worst team since his first season. I don't see them as a top half team in the league. I doubt they get close to a tourney bid, they'll have no good non-conference wins as they will get blow out by Gonzaga if they play even close to what they have shown in the last two games. The thing that I'm most frustrated by is the lack of basketball IQ, they don't look like they know how to play team basketball, they don't look like they know what the scheme is offensively or defensively, that's on the coaches, both in identifying talent and in coaching the team to be ready at the start of the season.

Yikes! Oregon Beat by San Diego State 97-80
I hate to say it, but I think he has nobody but himself to blame, he didn't recruit the right players, they just aren't very good. He's done a horrible job getting them ready. I think he struck out on a number of his targets and panicked when he got Lin, Demir, and the other player from Turkey. He must have struck out on a number of freshman since we don't have a single one that is playing.

Yikes! Oregon Beat by San Diego State 97-80
Down by 10, 51-41. Ugly, bad defense, Shelstad has had a good shooting night but he's given it back on defense as he is not big enough to get around on screens and the Aztecs have abused him there, Auburn did the same thing last night. Not a lot of IQ on this team, they don't know have any feel on offense. They've actually had a good shooting night, but as always too many turnovers. We have very little depth as we don't have any guards that are of any worth on the bench. Stewart is alright as a backup big. This is not a great SDSU team, this isn't the type of team they've had in the past, they're 2-2, and they look vastly better than us right now. We can certainly come back, but Altman has so much to work on with this group.
