April 7Apr 7 No. Given who won last night (5 transfers starting) roster retention is no longer in style. Being good at identifying and paying talent is where it’s at, and apparently we have room for improvement on both of those fronts. Our activity level is starting to get embarrassing imo. Ready for some big moves given the portal opens, uh, today.

April 8Apr 8 Author No. Demir just entered the portal. Down to Stewart, Vatan, and Phillips. I am shocked that Phillips has not entered yet.
April 9Apr 9 Author No. Is this is really one of Oregon’s targets to fill the PG position?5’10” and shoots 39% from the floor and 31% from three? If that is true, then I have to continue to assume there is a major NIL issue with men’s hoops. Edited April 9Apr 9 by GeotechDuck
April 9Apr 9 No. I do believe this is speaking with wallets, not a reflection of being happy with being irrelevant.2 years to go I guess. Edited April 9Apr 9 by JabbaNoBargain
April 9Apr 9 Author No. Vatan is in the portal now, so down to one holdover. This is not ideal:"It wasn't unexpected," Altman said. "There were three guys we really wanted back — Sean and KJ and Jackson, three starters. We did not pull anybody scholarship. Everybody had their scholarship would have been renewed, but we are working with the budget, and some guys are going to lose their NIL. Most of them are taking a reduction, big reduction."Link to article:https://247sports.com/college/oregon/article/oregon-basketball-faces-defining-offseason-as-dana-altman-navigates-new-era-of-rebuilding-280962517/
April 9Apr 9 Moderator No. The Michigan model of ‘Win Now’ not only requires a fat transfer wallet, but also suggests coaching may now be moving away from player development, and towards utilizing the already formed skill-sets of veteran top talent into more or less straight forward offensive and defensive schemes that focus on advantageous match-ups. It’s one-on-one at both ends of the floor with a vengeance. For Dana, this model represents a big shift away from what has been his strengths: recruiting good to excellent high school talent that he can then gradually shape into ‘his team’ over the course of a season.Where Dana exemplifies the college value of teaching, Dusty May has brought off-the-shelf pro moneyball squarely into the NCAA limelight.
April 10Apr 10 No. A Duck football fan here, but a VCU Rams basketball fan. That said, the Ducks are talking with Terrence Hill Jr. a VCU player (from Portland) in the portal. We'd love to keep Terrence, but if he goes somewhere else I really hope it's Oregon. Oh, and don't sell Jayden Reid short (even at 5'10") he's a baller. If you get him, you'll love watching him play.

It won't just be Altman who will have to conduct a meet and greet to start every practice.

April 11Apr 11 Author No. There we go! 6’6” double figure scorer that shoots almost 50% from the floor and 37% from three? That seems very, very solid start. Go get them Altman!! Edited April 11Apr 11 by GeotechDuck
April 12Apr 12 No. "Fortunately, we've got some people who want to see us get back to where we've been. And we've got to make those figures match and get guys we need". - Coach Dana AltmanThis is a promising start. Besides Stewart and Riley IV, the Ducks have Ariza, Harrison (basketball and football) and Seven Spurlock. According to ESPN, these are four **** players. The most sought after player is Tyran Stokes. He has narrowed his choices to Kansas, Kentucky and Oregon. I don't believe the Ducks can afford him unless they get into a bidding war.
April 12Apr 12 No. I believe Oregon is out on stokes at this point, just KU and UK bidding for him now
April 12Apr 12 Author No. They should take a hard look at Aristode from Arizona. He was injured for part of the year, but he is a 6’8” wing that is long and athletic and shot 47% from three last year. Edited April 12Apr 12 by GeotechDuck
