We have all been repulsed by the excessive amounts of NIL being paid to college players. Frankly--when you are paid that much....it has to take a bit of the edge or bite you may have going into the game.

Well now things at Oregon have changed....

So Dante Moore missed open receivers downfield on plays that could have won the game, and he showed the opponent defenses what the plays were in advance between pass-or-run with his feet placement? The stuff being written about him across the US is very damaging...

His NFL Draft status just went WAY DOWN.

So now, the NIL doesn't matter, because if he wants to become a high first-round NFL Draft pick....he has to improve his game enormously over the season. He not only has to show his superior talent as before, but demonstrate with each game that he is past the prior issues.

Oh! What benefits him going forward, (fixing his issues and winning games) benefits the team, and the fans. Cool!

Now...duplicate that across the team, as a ton of players planning to go to the NFL after this season just saw their draft stock take a hit as well. So all that I wrote about Dante applies to the all of them as well.

Pull yourself out of this mess to benefit you, which helps the team, and makes us fans happy. All our objectives are now in alignment!

This will get the very emotions needed to scratch-kick-claw-and-fight to rescue their career, and this team. The edge that NIL took off, will now return to fulfill the player objectives, and perhaps they will play as they did during the true "scholarship" days?

Absolutely Mr. OBD! Following OBD is literally watching a bunch of millionaires playing games nowadays. That's why it's extra frustrating when they lose games that they should have won handily and make stupid mistakes even high school players don't make.

Let's hope they get their acts together. If not, nobody will feel sorry for them. It will just suck to be a fan...

Being paid means you better take the heat from fans and media. The IV excuse was pathetic. I am pretty down on the Ducks right now.

Huge money ruined the NFL and I stopped watching in Early 2k. I really hope college football turns it around. I know they don't need my viewership but I won't support the trash if that's what college football becomes.

Charles - For the NFL prospects, I think you make very good point that I hadn't thought of yet. And for the guys who are non-starters, hopefully, they see the poor performance last week as an opportunity for them to work even harder for a shot at maybe moving up in the depth chart.

I also just can't imagine what it's like for these kids who are playing positions such as safety, edge, wide receiver, DT, & corner, who are suddenly getting paid $1M to $4M on an annual basis, to manage that instant wealth.

To from $0 to $2M+ overnight (and that's just for 1 year) without any stipulations or protections on that money, can be a challenge regardless of age, but only more so when your brain is 18 or 19 years old.

I'm guessing many of them had to open a bank account for the first time so the check could be deposited. And I'm guessing that most of them are having a lot of fun with that money as well, which is a huge distraction.

Not to mention all of the family members and long lost cousins, aunts and uncles, suddenly hitting them up for money. It is a hell of a lot of responsibility, and distraction, for anybody, let alone a teenager.
