Yesterday at 02:20 AM1 day No. This disaster took years to put together. It kinda makes you wonder just how much better the offense could have been last year with different support pieces to this offensive staff.

Yesterday at 05:01 AM1 day No. At least this guy has some experience. I'll be first to predict that the Ducks start getting it back together. With that many 4 and 5 stars, you almost have to try to mess up. The first order of the day is to figure who is going to play what positions on the O line. Then stop swapping it around every week. Find some plays that the other teams don't know about. Figure out what plays Raiola can run. Then stop being so obvious. Make the defense guess a little.

Yesterday at 12:20 PM1 day Moderator No. Lanning locked himself in with a weak plan A for offensive coaching with an even weaker plan B. It just is what it is. The good news is that he seems genuinely humbled by it all and is growing a lot as a coach. He had a great interview with the Portland Sports Radio show acknowledging it himself.Next year expect this team to be back on track and returning to the top 10. For now just jump in the Delorean with Doc and Marty and buckle up as we head back to the 80's. Young Duck fans will get to experience for a year what we went through for decades of rooting hard for a struggling team. It was tough being a fan all the way up to when Kenny Wheaton finally scored. 0-0 meant you weren't behind yet and you still had a chance. Yes it looks awful this year but there's also something more compelling about going into each game hoping rather than expecting to win. Go Ducks!
Yesterday at 12:23 PM1 day No. So all of a sudden, after decades of success as a program, nobody can coach and 4/5 star players cant play?So Lanning, all of a sudden, forgot what talent was? Or how to recognize talent? All of a sudden, after highly successful seasons, Lanning true talent as a coach "shines" through. This season is bazaar to say the least Edited yesterday at 12:24 PM1 day by Log Haulin

I’d rather have a really good college QB (or any other position) than a 5-star future NFL lottery draft pick. Watching Northwestern’s offense and execution this past week has been fun. If Oregon’s offense is not able to stay on the field this weekend, we are going to get destroyed. Good luck defending that offense for 30+ minutes in a game. Yesterday at 02:55 PM1 day No. While the train has definitely come off the tracks, this Duck honk, homer doesnt feel that it has plunged off the cliff. We, as Duck fans have and are spoiled. Since Kenny W's pick six, in 1995, the Ducks have had just 2 losing seasons! And a few 7-6 seasons.Just like some of this year's players, many Duck fans cannot handle adversity. It appears that some on this Forum fall in that category, too. And that is okay. This season has been difficult to watch and very dissapointing. As fans we carry hearts, hopes, dreams and passion on our sleeves. At least we have this great Forum to vent on.And there are many reasons for that. Coaching and players come at the top of the list.BIG 10 scheduling doesn't help either. Some teams have easy paths (UCLA, Penn State and NW to this point) Others have difficult paths.Northwestern opponents have a combined record of 25-28. Take IU and South Dakota State out of that mix and NW has played opponents with a 12-25 record. They have played some soft teams, 4 with losing schedules. No wonder they have inflated rushing numbers. Just 1 ranked team on that schedule (P-4)However, Chip, made some exceptional play calls to keep NW in the IU game. Almost pulling off the upset. IU is not the full team juggernaut of last season. And the Duck D will have to play at their best. The Ducks have played a much more difficult schedule with a combined record 37-16. Take PSU out and that opponent record is 35-10, with 4 ranked teams on that schedule. Let that simmer for a bit....If the Duck O can have a few sustained scoring drives, play field position, then the Duck D will handle Chips offense. If not, OBD's will lose a close game. This team has lost 3 games by a combined 21 points. I remember a number of games we lost by 21 points or more. 2-2 without their starting QB. And with 2 back up QB's that couldn't hit wide open receivers on short passes. The line blocked, the receivers got open, the play call was correct. The QB's did not execute. That is fixable with this talent level.Just have some perspective, realistic expections, and if you are not driving, drown your sorrows in the brew of your choice. I sure miss my Grandfather's moonshine wine, he brewed in his hidden cellar.Johnson and the Offense are playing with the house's money. They should be loose and just have fun. Be the spoiler and get better as a unit.Have faith Forum members. The worst think that can happen is OBD's lose the game. There really are worst things that can happen.Try, as others have posted, to take 30 years of losing or being mediocre........DL and his staff will not let that happen!Go Ducks...

Yesterday at 07:15 PM1 day Moderator No. Heading into Week 9, Northwestern is ranked 17th in Strength of Record (SOR).NW's strength of schedule is ranked 53rd; the remaining SOS is ranked 12th. NW is ranked 20th in game control.Yes, the Wildcats' schedule has not been difficult to date, but NW has taken care of business. The one loss was on the road at No. 4 Indiana, where NW lost by two points. Oregon's SOS is ranked 18th, SOR 31. OBD has not taken care of business. Oregon is ranked 83rd in performance compared to predicted performance.AP No. 1 Miami's SOS is ranked No. 60. AP No. 6 Utah's SOS is ranked 88th. AP No. 7 UCLA's SOS is ranked 64th. AP No. 5 Notre Dame has played one top-25 opponent, No. 8 BYU, and lost. Pollsters and PO committee members may tout their use of statistics, but what matters is wins and losses and the Eye Test. Coach Pepper Rodgers: Two things matter in college football: the quality of your roster and your schedule. Oregon -3.5 vs. NW reflects Oregon's home record under Dan Lanning and the comparative difficulty in SOS to date.I expect NW will show up with the will to win a game it was given no chance to win in the preseason, behind a revitalized QB who is playing as well as any QB in the country. NW was down 17-0 in Bloomington. Aiden Chiles carved up the Hoosiers D in the second half and almost pulled off the win. NW played as well as Ohio State against Indiana, and Chiles didn't have Jeremiah Smith to pass the ball to.If Oregon doesn't come out with a desire to win, this could be Drew Mestemaker and OK State redux. A superior roster, if not coupled with a will to win, means zip. It's CFB. NW's QB is better than Oregon's QB. Will the Ducks' D win the game?

Is the Apocalypse here? 🤪I'm wondering if we are seeing a seismic shift in the college football landscape:With the transfer portal, NIL and expanded college football playoffs, there will be more parity than ever before. Utah, UCLA, Kentucky, BYU, etc. are all in the college football playoff conversation at the midway point. Oregon is out. Texas, Alabama and LSU are hanging on by a thread. Traditional blue bloods can no longer pay under the table and stock talent on their roster, preventing other programs from getting top talent. Although he'll never admit it, it's probably the main reason that Coach Saban retired - he knew that he would not be able to roll out a roster that was superior to anyone else he would face in a given season. With more party, coaching and QB play (like the NFL) becomes even more important to the success of a college football program. Indiana won the national championship last year because they had the best overall coaching staff in college football, not because they had the most talented roster. Given the above, it's imperative that Coach Lanning hires the best possible coaching staff possible. We need to focus more on player evaluation, development, play calling and execution.
