OFF TOPICS: For Your Interest (12)
Who are these guys? Up the road apiece, they're having a heck of a season featuring an out-of-nowhere coach, QB, and WR. Do the Beavers have the money to keep these three in Corvallis? Last night, JMU lost to App State in OT. Oregon State's game at Boise State on 11/14 could decide the G6 PO representative. Marsh Duck - Final Thoughts Before Oregon v Illinois
This is at the crux of why I believe there need to be some major changes come the end of the season. There are teams with less talent that are doing more with it than we are and that needs to change. Not trying to get into ANOTHER conversion about coaching changes but it feels like that has become the dominate theme this season.

Evan Stewart Reportedly Booked on DUII Charge
A report emerged Friday from KATU News that prosecutors have declined to file a DUII charge against Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart following his arrest over the weekend. A separate report from Ryan Clark of The Oregonian notes that prosecutors are awaiting delivery of evidence. Clark quoted the Springfield Police Department deputy chief, George Crolly: “The prosecutor has not dismissed charges. The prosecutor has not filed charges as they are awaiting evidence.”

Evan Stewart Reportedly Booked on DUII Charge
Sounds like there will be no DUII charges at all, so no diversion required. Instead he's being charged with driving with a suspended license, a class A traffic violation. That's certainly a break for him.

Evan Stewart Reportedly Booked on DUII Charge
Let's not forget that in Oregon, if it's your first DUII... Oregon’s DUI diversion program is a court-supervised alternative to a conviction. It is designed for certain individuals charged with DUI who are willing to meet a series of requirements over a defined period of time. Diversion is not a dismissal of the charge at the outset. Instead, it is an agreement with the court: if all conditions are successfully completed, the DUI charge may ultimately be dismissed. It's not the end of the world for ES. But IT IS time to get serious about his future. I'm fairly certain DL will want him to successfully go thru diversion.

Sad State of Duck Basketball, Only Three Players on NBA Rosters
I’ll add that if Tony can somehow manage to get this team above 0.500 this year, that would be an amazing coaching job and he might have a shot at the permanent position.

Jackson Shelstad Killing It
Why waste your earning years in a lame Duck situation? Liked him when he was on his game, but his departure makes perfect $ to me.

Marsh Duck - Final Thoughts Before Oregon v Illinois
Good thoughts David. Seeing the O line settle in and be productive is on everybody's wish list. Hope we do see it Saturday. I also want to see Mehringer earn the title of OC this week. A steady diet of up the middle for no gain on first and second down followed by a five yard pass on third and nine has got to stop. Mixing in screen passes that get blown up in the backfield time and time again don't count as variety. There are plenty of teams with far less skilled O lines that figure out how to move the ball and with far less skilled playmakers. If the offense can just become mid, the D can take over the game. Is that too much to ask?

Marsh Duck - Final Thoughts Before Oregon v Illinois
Happy Friday everyone, Here are some of my final thoughts going into the game tomorrow. Sadly the offensive line is still on the list but at least I put an amusing twist on it... Maybe. Final Thoughts Before Oregon v IllinoisAnother week and another game.

Sad State of Duck Basketball, Only Three Players on NBA Rosters
The biggest challenge is they don’t have a high level PG on the roster or a Center. Those are two huge issues. Agree that they have some good players, but if you can’t run the offense or rebound, you are going to have some serious problems in conference play. Payne is an average PG. He has decent handles, but doesn’t shoot it or pass it particularly well. Lin and Easter look to be the backups at that position. I would argue that neither are DI PGs. Lin is more of a SG and Easter looks like he needs a ton of development before he is a major contributor. Compton and Bowen both look very good, but they are going to be giving up size at Center in most conference games. Can Bowen consistently box out guys that are 7 feet and 240 lbs? IMO, the floor is 6 wins this year, similar to the 1991-1992 squad. The ceiling looks to be middle of the pack in the BIG.

Sad State of Duck Basketball, Only Three Players on NBA Rosters
Available information puts Oregon’s NIL budget for hoops around $12M. The top teams in the BIG are north of $20M, so pretty hard to be competitive with that budget.
-
Jackson Shelstad Killing It
Yeah. Rumors are that he received around $4M from Louisville. Oregon’s total budget is around $12M. I suppose you don’t want to spend 33% of your NIL on a PG, but considering the options Oregon currently has at the position right now, it might have been a good idea.

He left for more NIL I suppose.

What NIL resources does the basketball team have? My guess is that many other schools have devoted more to basketball than us, and we have put it pretty much all into football. Football is king, both for fan enthusiasm and income.

Bryce Underwood, An Oregon Transfer Target
I respectfully disagree. Bryce is bringing down an estimated $3 million a year in direct revenue sharing and NIL deals. In 2026, his QBR rating is 53.3, 77th in the nation. In six games, he's thrown 5 TD passes and 6 interceptions. Michigan is 16th in the Big Ten in Points Per Game. What kind of pay cut is he willing to take? Which coach on Oregon's staff could coach him up to perform like the nation's best QB recruit? Does he have what it takes to play QB in the Power 2? I think this would be a B1G and a costly gamble. In 2027, Oregon has to find and pay talented O-line players and replace four starters on the D-line. If a team can't run the ball in the Power 2, no QB will make much of a difference. In 2027, Oregon plays Iowa, Ohio State, and Penn State at home. And plays five B1G games on the road: Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, UCLA, and UW. Not the schedule you want for a QB to learn on the job.
