I totally thought the same thing, Kiffin set this up. They talked about taking heads off. Whole team acted like it they knew it before it happened. The only thing missing is the thick gold chain transfer to the 🥇 winner. 🏆

This may be the element that matters most in a deep post-season run. Playing better defenses like Georgia and Texas, we need a QB who can scan the field whether under pressure or not. We have the play makers to go up and bring down the passes. Raiola seams to understand this already. He looks like he is seeing the mis-matches on the field either pre-snap or on the roll-out and distributing the ball well. I do see mounting issues (last season included) with Dante dumping out to guys in the flat rather than throwing a down-field receiver open. I'm sure with more tape on Raiola there will be issues we see with some of his decision making (maybe throwing off the back foot too much). But at this point I have been pleasantly surprised by his vision on the field.

I am not so sure about that. Dante is missing open receivers downfield that can extend drives, score points, and win games. We saw that against Indiana last year, against Boise State this year, as well as many, many times against Oklahoma State. As bad as the team played in Stillwater....if Dante hits just a few open receivers downfield in that game--we win. But again--I do not know if he is tunnel-visioned toward the receivers in the flat, or if the coaches are telling him to do this. But we have receivers breaking open downfield often when Dante is in the throwing motion to the flat-WR, and he is not being pressured in the pocket. Raiola's pocket presence is much better at this point, IMHO. In the end? This is a GREAT problem to have; two QBs who can play!

Riley has proven that he is a superb QB coach, and OC, but he is not HC material. He is the "Mark Helfrich" of USC...

Dylan is a good player. Maybe even great. His style of play will create highlights and "C'mon mans". Donte is still the better QB. Not by much though. Donte has earned his role. Probably the #1 arm talent in the college game. He is possibly the #1 draft pick next year. He took this team to the semi last year then came back to finish what he started. The O line is starting to come along. Receivers aren't dropping balls. RB are getting better at pass pro. Donte is starting to use his feet a little better. Make no mistake, Donte is the QB. And there are a lot more reason he should be than not. Oregons struggles early aren't on Donte but most of the burden is. The QB room at Oregon is amazing and the future is set up as good as ever. I wonder who the next stud QB transfer will be.

Great take Jon!!!! You're spot on about the SEC bias. I have seen a good portion of the conference now. I, like you see slightly above average teams getting hype they can't deliver on. And they are padding each others' reputations.

I am not sure this is a Riley problem. USC seems to have issues much deeper than LR. Riley is just the face in front of the sports world. Sark was at USC, fired, now has Texas sitting at #1. Kiffen, fired, built Ole Miss and will take LSU to the top. OK Kiffen is a bad example of character but has teams winning is my point. Riley had Okie in the PO multiple years and was loved across the sport. I think this goes way deeper than the coach. Unfortunately for Riley, he got that sUc cancer on him. LR should get on the next train out of town. No matter the cost. Rebuild his name and never look back. sUc is a trash school. They are desperate and in that desperation they will destroy everyone and everything around them.

He pointed out plays by Raiola that were not as successful, and I personally saw a number of receivers open downfield that he did not see and throw to. But he is looking downfield more than Dante Moore does, and as Max said...."this was an unbelievable performance coming in as a backup." I will be watching the game closely later this week, and will give some feedback. I will be looking very closely at the offensive line, as there is upside, but I do not know if that upside can materialize in time before our date in Columbus. How do you like the background photo of Jamari Johnson with a catch downfield?

Mike, thanks for posting that video. It was eye opening and worth the view. My takes from the video. Those dig and crossing routes take time to develope. The Duck O line blocked as a unit and gave DR the time he needed for the routes to come open. Good job O Line...... The Duck QB cannot get happy feet and bail. DR did not bail. He bounced on his toes, ran thru his progressions and let the routes develope. He thru to where the receivers were going to come open. Nice work DR...... The relentless dig, crossing and out routes had the usuck defenders confused and out of place. It also wore them out, resulting in the Ducks 4 quarter dominance The usuck defensive confusion set up the 60 yard screen play for Hill. Get NFL talent in space and great things happen. As you mentioned, the Duck D has the same problem. The difference maker was the 2 early sacks. The usuck QB was trying to go thru his progressions and Duck pressure nailed him. After that he was comitted to a specific receiver for his targets. His top level talent made that work. Until the 4th quarter. He had no running game and no time. Ducks tightened coverage and usuck could not score late in the 4th. Kudos to the Duck defense. They stopped usuck on 4th and 7 in usuck territory. Thats progress....... Go Ducks......

Thats the part that bothers me the most.

I could not help but think that if I had been the one who intentionally hit Dante leaving him damaged on the field my reaction would have been to feel guilty, concerned for his health, disappointment in myself, and shame, even disgust for what I had done to him. The fact that some players on that team found that hit a cause for celebration speaks volumes about character and should be used as a teaching moment for everyone who suits up to play. We don't need a book of rules or a bunch of game officials to tell us what constitutes good sportsmanship. A sense of fair play and our conscience would be enough.

I like the new uniforms. And not to be a Debbie Downer, but has the uniform reveal thing gotten a bit old and maybe even stale? It definitely doesn't seem remotely edgy to me anymore, like it did 15 or 20 years ago. Then again, maybe that's just because I'm old. If it's still cool to the kids, then I'm more than happy with it. But frankly, I'd prefer to see the reveal for the first time when they come running out of the tunnel.
