Watched the first offensive series... Turning it off for now. I have little kids and it's Halloween so I'll try and make it a special and good day for them rather than curse under my breath at the tv.

Yep, more bad offensive football

Initial thought after the first possession. Autzen finally has a good offense on the field... too bad it's not ours.

Humbled

I'm wondering if we are seeing a seismic shift in the college football landscape: With the transfer portal, NIL and expanded college football playoffs, there will be more parity than ever before. Utah, UCLA, Kentucky, BYU, etc. are all in the college football playoff conversation at the midway point. Oregon is out. Texas, Alabama and LSU are hanging on by a thread. Traditional blue bloods can no longer pay under the table and stock talent on their roster, preventing other programs from getting top talent. Although he'll never admit it, it's probably the main reason that Coach Saban retired - he knew that he would not be able to roll out a roster that was superior to anyone else he would face in a given season. With more party, coaching and QB play (like the NFL) becomes even more important to the success of a college football program. Indiana won the national championship last year because they had the best overall coaching staff in college football, not because they had the most talented roster. Given the above, it's imperative that Coach Lanning hires the best possible coaching staff possible. We need to focus more on player evaluation, development, play calling and execution.

An observation. DL over the last several weeks has looked worried/concerned/a little lost when they show him on the sideline. I'm not a psychologist. But I am used to seeing him looking intense and eager....it hasn't been that way lately.

I cme in specifically to say this is the game I want to measure Hamps ability. You ar 7 games in now. I want to se where h is and if we need another DC

Hampton has had a week to get ready for Chip, is he up to the task?

I didn't know Yogi was calling the game. Sweet, I really like Yogi Roth.

Oregon 24-22 2 to 2 SKS 222 YDS pass

DM or DR aren't doing zone/read, and they for sure aren't running QB draw/power/counter RPO out of an empty set. Cam Newton ran for over 1400 yards. If you put KJ in you might just get your zone running game going again and for sure the defense didn't game plan to defend him.

In other words we're getting our rear ends kicked today.

I'm sure that the coaching staff can get Akili Smith, Jr. in the game with a limited playbook based on what he is capable of executing. Again, I'm not calling for him to be the starter but I really hope the coaches give him an opportunity to show what he can do sometime this season. They need some game tape to evaluate.

TT scores a long rushing TD on 3rd and short. Game over.

Texas Tech forced a 3-and-out. Arizona is going to have to hope they can stop them on defense and quickly score on offense.

I just took a look and Youtube is broadcasting this game. I have Peacock streaming so I am just fine.

Yep. Even the poorest of college kids make bad decisions. They just make them in crappy cars while drinking the cheap stuff. I’ve been there. I went to college in a dry county in the south. We had to drive 30 miles to get to the nearest liquor/beer store. You can probably guess how we passed the time on the long drive back. Keep in mind that we were usually bootlegging because we would collect money and bring back several cases/kegs, etc. across county lines. I think the limit per person was 48 beers and a fifth of spirits. When you’re buying for a party, that limit gets busted pretty easily. However, the key to not getting busted was driving an inconspicuous vehicle (not a black Trans-Am) and driving the speed limit.

Smith Jr warming up with the 2's?

Arizona getting the ball back down by 4 with 4:29 remaining in the game.

I highly doubt Akili sees the field. Lanning is fighting for his coaching life right now. He is fighting to keep his kids in Eugene schools. DL is not going to put a kid out there that has no idea what he is doing. If DM and DR can't play the position with a combined 12,000 career passing yard, what makes anyone think this coaching staff has Akili, who is somewhere around zero career passing yards, can get the job done. Not sure how this is even a consideration at this point.

Maybe you can find a YouTube feed

YTTV has it on NBCSC 4K

Agreed. If your freaken 4/5 star QBs are no where near field ready by year two in the system then fire the guy who wasted the team's time and resources on that player. The Ducks have brought in a galaxy of stars QB recruits and yet can't seem to find one in the last ten years that's field ready. Meanwhile just up the road the Beavers are becoming a playoff dark horse behind an FCS quarterback, a no star receiver and a first year coach.

Lanning said they've had some packages for him, I don't think KJ would be getting fed to the wolves if he sees the field. The kid is built like Cam Newton with the big arm as well, and I'd use him in ways like they did Cam. Gus Malzhan would go empty and spread the WR's out, then run power and counter for Cam. He had Jet Motion Sweep zone/read with RB Dyer they ran. I'd run that with Dak as the jet in full sprint and teams would be caught off guard.

Throwing to the edge has been an issue the last couple weeks...
