  3. After all the preseason hype, this year has been an embarrassment. Big changes need to happen before next season.

  6. Wow, It is almost impressive how absolutely abysmal that spectacle was. This morning as we all try to process what we just witnessed, I think there is a convergence of factors that need to be addressed separately and then added together to understand what is so wrong with the Ducks offense. Starting at the top, Lanning's gambling addiction needs to be addressed. It stopped being fun pedal to the metal go big or go home stuff years ago. Why in the world does he take so many potentially game changing risks so early in so many games? Last year in the first game with Indiana, on the first drive, he decides to go for it on fourth down on the short side of the field. Why? After failing, the Hoosiers kick a field goal and settle in and control the game the rest of the way. This week it's going for two in the first quarter. Both times it's high risk low reward decisions that set a negative tone for the rest of the game. Not only is it poor strategy, I think gambling shows a lack of confidence in the team that sets the negative tone mentioned earlier. It needs to stop like with an intervention, counseling or a life changing moment. Whatever the answer is, it needs to happen soon. The OC promotion has been a disaster. Mehringer seems like a good tight end coach but nothing on his resume screamed OC potential. His results as OC at Rutgers were bad and we're now seeing why. This team has been assembled with some of the best skill position players in the country which gets negated by some of the worst play calling in the country. The simplistic route tree the receivers run negates their physical advantage. Running up the middle has been this teams most glaring weakness and yet continues to be their favorite play. With the game and playoff hopes on the line, with a last chance opportunity to escape with a win in OT with a successful two point conversion what gets called? Yes the Ducks worst and least successful play all year. Right up the middle. Inexcusable. One of the few successful drives the team had was self destroyed with a way too cute wildcat hand off fumble. When it ain't broke, don't fix it. It also needs to be asked how can the offensive line be so terrible? A quick look at the OL two deep shows ten players rated 4-5 stars. How in the world in year five with that much talent can the Ducks have one of the worst O lines in the country. Since everything starts up front, everything gets derailed at step one. Something is appallingly wrong and someone needs to deal with this ASAP. To summarize an inexplicably bad OL with great talent is setting up plays doomed to fail by an OC in over his skies. All this is setting up a delicate chess match that needs to be strategically navigated by a river boat gambler who never wants to be told the odds. Welcome to Oregon Duck football 2026. Buckle up.
  7. I watched that game and Nebraska shot themselves in the foot over and over again. I think this game will come down to who makes the least number of mistakes.
  8. One bright spot from the game. Defense kept the Ducks in the game. Despite being on the field twice as long as the offense, they held UCLA to 17 points. Oregon Ducks On SIOne Bright Spot in Oregon's Upset Loss to UCLAThe Oregon defense showed up to Autzen Stadium on Saturday ready to play. Unfortunately for the No. 13 Ducks (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten), their offense was nowhere to be

  12. I am a what’s next fan. Can we win 8 or 9 games? Not without Donte. What will a nothing bowl game look like. How many leave the program for playing time, who and how many get poached by other schools. This was not just an ugly loss, it was a blow to the program. We are hated because of our flash. You may laugh but other teams doing shout in our house as an in your face, do something about it, and we don’t? Our bowl game roster will be completely different if we make a bowl game. I don’t know if Dan knows how to fix this. But now I am an observant fan but that is it. likely Nebraska wins next week, no line and a rusty Donte. No pretty. Interesting time.
  13. guys (gals), we are going to be ok. Lanning and company have hit an extraordinary speed bump. He has already proven he can adjust under duress. This is a project that he will grow from, and he has shown me he has incredible poise despite the massive pressure he faces to perform at the highest elite level against some pretty damn good coaches and their staffs. He has achieved so much in so little time we have been spoiled. Whomever he starts, and however he attacks this challenge, know that this crises will pass and time will tell how far we climb as a program. We may not reach the pinnacle this year, or any other. Being in the elite circle of contenders is fine for me. It takes an incredible amount of luck and fortune to win a title. Look at Cristobal. He is only a few years ahead in terms of experience( and he doesn't have a title either despite some "natural" advantages we have to overcome). It takes time. It took Rich Brooks 20 years. Remember that. We went from an Indiana universe to an Oregon Universe with a blend of different styles and approaches. And we are in the group despite our current challenges. This year is a lesson we must be patient and thankful. We have been able to talk about earning our first title for nearly 20 years. Dozens of programs will never have the opportunity we have. No reason to panic. It will all work out the way it is supposed to,
  14. I was thinking Brock Thomas halfway through the second quarter.
  15. If Dante is not going to return... Or until, I'd like to see Akili Smith play. He is big, strong arm and an athlete. I think if he d played second half maybe we win. He would have added the run element... I doubt we could have played worse or had more turnover had he played. I am not at all comfortable with Railoa for next yr for obvious reasons...
  16. I saw much of the Nebraska game and was very impressed with their O line. Even if Oregon gets it QB situation under control, it will still be hard to win.
  17. I don't blame you. Since I live in Northern California (not Cali) I am still able to wear my gear to show my fandome without too much ridicule.
  18. Nebraska dominated them for 3 quarters and gave up 2 huge plays in the 4th.
  19. Watching Georgia against Alabama tonight was like watching another level of football after watching today's Duck game.
  20. Time to re-open the QB competition?
  21. Not wearing my Oregon bling around this Washington town until we win again.
  22. Next week at Nebraska should be interesting. The Huskers came rather close to beating a very good Indiana team today.
  23. Heck of a Win! That game was PHYSICAL! Tomorrow, your Dawgs will deservedly be ranked Numero Uno!
  24. AMEN Charles, AMEN! What is the mood tonight on the Texas, Bama, LSU, Florida, Texas A&M, and Bama boards? Heading into Week 7, the B1G has two undefeated teams: 6-0 Indiana and 5-0 UCLA. Six B1G teams have one loss: Ohio State, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. The SEC has one undefeated team, 6-0 Georgia. Seven SEC Teams have one loss: Alabama, Kentucky, Ole Miss, MS State, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas. Having a big budget does not mean a team will be great. Ask Michigan and Texas A&M fans. For whatever reason(s), a veteran team has been dysfunctional since the opening game. After Dante went down, there was unity and purpose in LA, and a will to win that disappeared during the bye week. A will to win that has been missing this season. Entropy infects every system. Complacency allows chaos to come through the door. Exhibit A is the behemoth IBM that was almost taken down by two college dropouts with a better idea. Faulty evaluations were made in the off-season that have come home to roost. It's terribly disappointing to go from a team ranked 2nd in the preseason to this. But keep on supporting the team and hope that Dan will not allow a disappointing season to morph into the situations at Clemson and Penn State. Back against the wall, do the best to win seven straight. A nasty Nebraska team is headed to Eugene in Week 7, a team that played its guts out against Indiana and is every bit as talented as UCLA, including at QB. Fans of every team in every sport will suffer depression. It's the nature of competition. Teams lose, which is OK; playing without a will to win is inexcusable. HUSK the Huskers!
  25. Man, I was absolutely wrung out by the time the clock hit 0.00 in Autzen today. I immediately was cast in to another hand wringing contest in Tuscaloosa that, fortunately and thankfully, turned out better for me. As I have matured (I turned 80 this year), I have slowly learned to take defeat with disappointment rather than bitterness or anger. It is part of becoming a true fan rather than a sour critic. Hang in there Duck fans.
  26. Last year, Lanning could have brought in nearly any QB coach and or OC he wanted. His last two other OCs had both gotten head coaching gigs after only one and two years with the Ducks. So yes, ANY coaches he wanted. We were told to trust the process and Lanning's track record to that point gave him the benefit of the doubt. This feels way to similar to Helfrich's in house DC hire that brought upon his downfall a couple years later. Also, how can the O line be this bad? I mean THIS BAD! The freaking Beavers offense is looking great. They moved the ball much better against Texas Tech than OBD did against UCLA. How? Nearly every play the offense makes looks like an epic struggle. Every yard up the middle, every third down conversion, every pass play. Bubble screens to nowhere. No hitting receivers in stride. Every play seems like hoping. Never attacking. We had two great back to back runs to the outside and were moving the chains. Had the Bruins on there heals. Finally taking control of the game with a nice drive. So what now? Some wildcat trickeration, a fumble and drive over. A successful drive is not the time to get cute. Coaching malpractice. This offense looks worse than Mario's. The scope of regression by this years offense has been unbelievable.
