I'm Really Excited to Play UCLA
Couldn't agree more. Ducks will be healthy and UCLA's just not that good. Moore or not the Ducks are not losing at home to UCLA.

Second Viewing of USC Game: "Oregon is in Flux....Badly So."
Geoff is being polite. The USC game highlights were inescapable showing just how bad Perich was at diagnosing and taking good angles to the ball. It's hard to believe he's the best we have for that position. I'm expecting Jett Washington or Woodyard to take his starting spot against UCLA.

I'm Really Excited to Play UCLA
I know a lot of folks are nervous about us playing UCLA next weekend, but I'm not for 3 reasons: UCLA is good, but not as scary as some think. They have had the easiest schedule in the B1G so far. Cal is probably the worst team in the ACC, SDSU may be the worst team in the PAC12, Maryland and Purdue are the worst teams in the B1G. Granted, some of that observation is UCLA making the look bad in one of their 4 games, but still. We play at home likely in some more traditional fall weather. We've had our bye week to assess and implement the most significant changes we'll be able to make all season. Lanning's defense is built to contain running QBs like Lameava Obviously UCLA is on their bye week,is already comfortable that most things are working, and is therefore simply focusing for 2 straight weeks on beating us at our weaknesses. But I don't think that trumps the 3 points above. I'm looking for us to beat the two touchdown spread and seeing some notable changes in players and execution.

Is It Time to Bring Back Chip?
Chip coaches outside and inside zone well, but I'm not ready for a retread....

Is It Time to Bring Back Chip?
It’s not the worst idea. The last few years the most common thread behind OBD’s losses have been opposing coaches that were long in experience.

Is It Time to Bring Back Chip?
If we determine we can't win the big one with our OC at some point, then sure, Riley or Kelly are great options if available. We are only a quarter of a season through with our new OC who is showing a promising amount improvement though.

UW with a Winning Season This Year?
.500 team at best. Especially poetic given their QB’s off-season situation.

Lanning v Cristobal
I don't understand why Miami doesn't have the best odds to win a Natty. Mario will always have an OL advantage over us, he appears to have good talent evaluators in place and coordinators that he trust to win games their way, something he was incapable of doing with us and his first few years at Miami. Dan is younger than Mario, with less head coaching experience than Mario. If Mario could figure it out eventually, then so can Dan. If you gave me the opportunity to switch head coaches right now Mario vs. Dan, I would stick with Dan. He's much more personable and has a similar to higher ceiling than Mario as a HC.

How does this happen? Missouri absolutely throttled Florida. Very hard to take any of these ranking seriously. They are a joke!

UW with a Winning Season This Year?
While little can compare to the fun of Washington's 0-12 season in 2008, even 5-7 would be enjoyable. The Huskies are 3- 2, with their three wins against non-conference cupcakes, including a 16-14 win at home against Utah State. Their loss at USC might have been their best-played game of the year so far. Looking ahead on their schedule, they have Iowa, Oregon, and Indiana still on the schedule. An improved Nebraska team on the road is not a gimme. They should be underdogs in those games. They should be favored at Purdue and Michigan State, but Purdue has improved a bit. The Husky run offense is currently hampered by its three top running backs out with injuries. Had even one been available, they likely would have beaten USC. As they become available, I assume their run offense will improve. Here is a summary of their unenviable situation at running back: AI Overview: University of Washington running backs Quaid Carr and Jayden Limar are sidelined until at least November 1, 2026, with potential for longer or late-season absences. Head coach Jedd Fisch announced that the top running backs will not be re-evaluated until November 1, keeping them out for multiple key games. Running Back Injury Status Player Name Position / Status Injury & TimelineQuaid Carr Sophomore / Out Hand surgery; targeted for a late-season return or re-evaluation on November 1Jayden Limar Senior / Out Elbow injury; won't be re-evaluated until November 1 with an uncertain exact time-line. Julian McMahan Sophomore / Out Season-ending ankle injury sustained in practice Jordan Washington Junior / Status Undetermined Sidelined with a lingering preseason neck injury.

Is It Time to Bring Back Chip?
Mehringer had a rough start, but I thought he called pretty good games the last two weeks. As long as he keeps improving, Oregon will be fine.

If I recall correctly the Chipster was not particularly fond of living in Eugene. Does anyone remember otherwise? It would surprise me if Coach Lanning replaces Coach Mehringer or supersedes Mehringer’s role.

Worth considering. Example…Texas DC is Will Muschamp, former HC. Will Venables at Oklahoma is a great DC. Hemay be available. Lots of folks over their skis as head coached but are great assistants.

Is It Time to Bring Back Chip?
It's been over fourteen years since Chip left to coach in the NFL. After a few unsuccessful head coaching stops he went back to what has always been his natural calling as an Offensive Coordinator. After a few years back at OC, it looks like this is what he wants to do at this point. Up until now I always scoffed at the idea of bringing him back both because I thought he'd bolt at the first chance to move up to head coach and also the power struggle he could create being one of the most successful coaches in UO history. But as he seems to be settling in with OC contentment, these concerns have faded with me. Also after so many years of coaching different teams with different personnel types, he seems comfortable with changing his plan to match his players rather than forcing the players to match his plan. Watching Northwestern's offense come to life with him in charge, has been highly entertaining. Chip always talks fondly of his time with the Ducks. His lack of enthusiasm for recruiting could be off set by the emergence of GMs and NIL. It seems like this would be a win win type of situation. Probably will never happen but it also kind of seems like it should. Thoughts?

BIG Tier List Week Five
Thanks, Log. My tears are for the all-time winning coaches at their former programs: Matt Campbell, Pat Fitzgerald, and Kyle Whittingham (can you bench a QB making 4 Mill a year?). Cheers for David Braun, who now has a better winning percentage at Northwestern than Fitz in his first three seasons. And for OC Chip Kelly and QB coach Jerry Neuheisel. Who is that guy disguised as Aiden Chiles? And avant-garde coach Kelly brings back the Southwest Conference Veer offense. Wow! Mega-cheers for the new Ryan Field design team and for the team heading directly to the Standing Room Only student section at the game's conclusion. Cheers for PJ Fleck, who reclaimed a jug while his defense mugged Bryce Underwood and Michigan's offensive offense. Cig? Two RBs over 100 yards and two WRs over 100 yards in what a beatdown of Rutgers should look like. SC and UW? SC is a waste of talent. Other than QB, UW has no talent. Does Fisch have the $ to compete at the B1G top? Bob Chesney - Great start, but Incomplete. Grade coming on 10/11/26. Ditto for Matt Ruhle, with Indiana coming for a visit; also Incomplete. Luke Fickell - It is alive! On the other hand, Mike Locksley? DMV? No! DMW. Yes! Barry Odom off the B1G schnid. Brett Bielema, go to your room! I - Ohio State, Indiana - B1G game of the year, Week 7, Ohio State at Indiana. II - Oregon - Scheme? Important. Attitude? More important. Does Oregon have the chops to shut down UCLA's run game? Northwestern: Should have beaten Indiana? Another game where Oregon better buckle the chin strap. III - Iowa: bad loss to Ohio State. Minnesota: terrible loss to Miss State. UCLA & Nebraska: Legit? Wisconsin: Bouncing back and jumping around. IV - A B1G mess. Blackout the Whiteout game? Ruin the Bruins!

Amen brother. All coaches must step up their crafts.
