  2. Second and 10 all day long was troublesome but they managed do deal with more times than not.
  3. JJ has been great as an unexpected surprise. I think he has also benefitted from the O line maturing as a group and settle in to finally provide some protection. That's allowed the passing game to finally be able to go down field and get the ball to our dangerous playmakers. I'm loving the ride we have been taking on the last couple games. When the season is over, they still need to go out and bring in an A tier OC. I'd be down with keeping JJ on staff in whatever capacity that keeps another adult in the room.
  4. No sacks given up to Ohio State is great, but run-blocking has a checkered result. Some great, some awful.... They are continuing to improve, but we are not "there" yet, IMHO. But they could be by postseason time!
  5. I'm no expert on O line play and will listen to the more knowledgeable experts on the subject like Charles. I can only talk about what I observe and what I saw this week was a line that finally looked comfortable doing it's job. With a QB more comfortable in the pocket the offense finally looked comfortable doing what it sets out to do. The Buckeyes worst performance of the year had been in a 30 point defeat to USC last year. Before that was 24 to Texas. No one else had even cracked 20 including Indiana. If the line continues this trajectory, the Ducks will be a dangerous team. If the seas manage to part and a path to the playoffs develops, things could get interesting.
  6. I just witnessed JJ rip apart a 2 time superbowl champion DC.. put some respect on JJ name. Lets go back to one sequence that set up a future TD by Oregon. JJ on a goal line play purposely shifted Raiola out to WR hoping to get Ohio St to call timeout due to the formation. Their last of the quarter.. then comes back to the funky formation where Ohio St needed to call timeout and couldn't. Jamari runs up the middle for a TD.
  7. Some Lanning perspective. BIG road record: 11-1 (5-0, 4-0, 2-1) Regular season head to head with tOSU, Michigan, Penn St, USC: 6-0 Road games with above four: 4-0 BIG record total: 21-3 (9-0, 8-1, 4-2)

  10. Today

  11. The Ducks are undefeated in the regular season against Ohio State since the turn of the millennium. Unfortunately, Ohio State is undefeated in the post-season against Oregon during the same time period.
  12. What have you done for us lately? 🤬 Maybe the Day is coming when Ryan will be an OC candidate. 😁 Larry Brown SportsOhio State fans are all saying the same thing about Ryan DayThe Ohio State Buckeyes' season appears to be spiraling down the drain, and the knives are once again out for head coach Ryan Day. The Buckeyes were blown
  13. Wow. Dude literally pursues correctly the whole quarter. Later zooms in on a TFL. So now he needs to tackle better. But if he pursues like that from now on, do you realize how much that shores up the run defense? Oh, and that catch by Jeremiah Smith? Ohio State WRs have scored TDs with that much separation the past three years. Koi recovered and defended the pass. And if I recall correctly, it wasn't thrown behind Smith. I WANT THAT FROM KOI. No TDs given up, proper pursuit angles. Dude is very fast. And if this is an indication, he is using his speed to his advantage. Tackling can be cleaned up in practice. You see a negative. I see a positive. All due respect, I have no problem with Koi's performance today.
  14. Next year, the SEC gets to prove if they are the superior conference. I believe it is why so many fans are complaining. SEC bias is real, or they are truly superior. Next year we will see what the conference is really about.
  15. Lanning said the players didn't execute. Said the same last week. This is the part of coaching that is getting better. Coaches are getting directly involved and getting buy in from the players. I suspect it is two way communication. Notice how Koi's pursuit has been more effective? Now they need to work on tackling. I have to look at the film more, but I am seeing signs of improvement. If they keep this up, and play like they have the past two weeks, a USC win next week helps them out tremendously. IF.
  16. And you need to recognize weaknesses and adjust accordingly.

  18. Tuioti to Uiagalelei? The guy’s got some Chip in him.
  19. I have to admit there’s been some ‘whoa!’ moments this season when I’ve questioned if this guy is who I believe he is. But, every time that doubt arose, I knew in my heart it was wrong, that he is legit. You just know it. For a young coach still learning the ropes to go through the gauntlet he has and get his team to do what they did today? That’s living proof that adversity builds character. And, that’s what I put my trust in.
  20. This Ohio St win on the road is worthy of some hype. The passing attack and shut down defense finally looks good.
  21. I just hope Dan Lanning learned 2 valuable lessons this year. You need the best coaches money can buy, and you need to scheme to YOUR player's strengths and weaknesses.
  22. I cant remember ever seeing that in the past. I was actually surprised the telecast actually focused on the exodus. Until the Ducks pulled a significant portion of the D, tOSU had completely stopped focusing on JSmith. Not sure what was up with that...
  23. He's good. I don't know why anyone has wanted him to leave.
  24. I think he's shown more ability to adapt to an offensive game plan than Tosh. Now if he can just figure out how to start the game. I think he's doing a great job for a first year guy and will get better the more his guys believe in him. For continuity sakes alone I'd say bring him back for next year.
  25. 'Tis said that one learns more from loss than from any win.
  26. Speaking of back-to-back, the wins against Northwestern and Ohio State were both ranked teams. The last time Oregon beat ranked teams back-to-back in the regular season was 2018: Cal and Washington. It's happened post-regular-season since.
